Comfort Books
What are your...

What are your comfort books? Books that you've read so many times that always make you feel better, or that are your go-to when you're upset or have nothing to read. I'm curious what other people's are!

My comfort books are any of the Ranger's Apprentice books, they always cheer me up. Little Women is another, definitely, it's my favorite. Bookishly Ever After- it's a little cheesy (it's a YA romcom), but I've read it a dozen times and I love it. My comfort book when I was younger was Spilling Ink, which is a book about writing. I read it so often that it got to the point where I could quote it basically word for word. Trumpet of the Swan was another one when I was younger (I still love these books)!

I love Calvin and Hobbes and Phoebe and her Unicorn!! They're basically what I read whenever I don't want to use my brain very much and feel like relaxing. My other favorite comic strip is Get Fuzzy.

My comfort book is The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster. I just love its crazy, harebrained way of looking at the world. When children start out at the height they will be when they are adults, with their feet floating 3 feet above the ground, and grow down, I am knocked into uprorious laughter. When Tock, the 'literal watchdog' jumps into Milo's toy car after severely reprimanding him, claiming he just loves automobile rides, it is a moment of such sweetness my heart melts. The Doldrums, the banish of Rhyme and Reason, and the feuding towns of Dictionopolis and Digitopolis- I love it all. Just a silly world of nonsensicalities I can escape to when my own world is rather predictable and dreary.

Ooohhhh I love Raina Telgemeier's Smile, something really cosy about it...I also like Margaret Petersen Haddix's Running Out Of Time. It's not her best — structure could do with a nice edit and a little clearing-up — but overall I like it. Katharine Rundell's Rooftoppers is BRILLIANT. It has such a feeling of autumn, exactly like our autumn here. Please try out!

My favorite comfort books are the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. They are hilarious, so if I'm ever sad or mad, they calm me down.

I know I'm kind of late, but I love the Penderwick series. (dunno if anyone's read it?)

but it is one of those books that you can read again and again and it doesn't get old.

Really recomend for anyone who hasn't read it!
