. When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead
. Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech

That's all for now! You can recommend as many books as you want, and please include the author of your book so it's easier to find. Thanks!

Wondeful idea, Linnea! I'll have a go:
The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien.
The Silmarillion by J.R.R Tolkien.
The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien.
And everything else by Tolkien. There's a vast library of his works to choose from. :)
It would spoil the stories to give detailed summaries, but I will say a few things-
These books are deep, detailed, and epic. They were written to be a mythology for England, and they are easily that. They are a marvelous mixture of serious, funny, and inspiring, and seem to be both ancient and brand-new at the same time. If you like to be really drawn into another world, Tolkien's rich landscapes and lavish detail will do just that. If you start them and they bore you, I'd advise you to give yourself a few more years before trying them again. Start with either the Hobbit or the Lord of the Rings- the Silmarillion is very deep.
I'd like to say more, but that would take pages and pages. Go on and discover them for yourself! :)

Thanks Esthelle! I have read The Hobbit and I love it! I have not read the Lord of the Rings yet, but I plan to soon. I actually started reading The Hobbit when I was littler, about 8 or 9 maybe, and I didn't quite understand it at that age, so I had to come back a few years later. That time I couldn't put it down!!

First of all, I totally agree with Esthelle, Tolkien for the win!
Here's a few suggestions, mainly for fantasy lovers:
- The Redwall series by Brian Jacques
The Redwall series follows the animals living at Redwall Abbey through the ages. It is set in a medieval times and has many great adventures, some of the most notable being the adventures of Martin the Warrior, a mouse.
- The Rangers Apprentice series by John Flanagan
Rangers Apprentice follows Will Treaty as he grows up and is trained to be a Ranger for the kingdom of Araluen. Will gets in some pretty tight fixes, and the way of the Rangers is definitely not what he expected!
- The Brother Band Chronicles series by John Flanagan
Set in the same world as the Rangers Apprentice, these books follow the adventures of a Skandian Brother Band crew, the Herons, headed by Hal. This crew of boys are the misfits. But when danger threatens Skandia who will step up to the task against all odds?
That's aIl I've got time for now, I'll certainly put in some more later!

I love all three of those series! They're all very good books, in case anyone wants to read them.

Isn't this kind of the exact same thing as Bibliophile's thread?
(February 8, 2016 - 7:19 am)
We can have more than one thread about the same thing, can't we? The more the merrier!
(February 8, 2016 - 10:40 am)
Linnea, I completely, utterly, whole-heartedly agree with you :)

@ all CBer's YAY FOR ALL THE BOOK RECOMMENDATION THREADS THAT HAVE BEEN, ARE, AND WILL EVER BE!!!
@hotairballon Thanks for the thought! I think it's alright to have more than one book recommendation thread.
@Linnea: Welcome to the Chatterbox! I like the thread!
@Esthelle: Book recommendation threads rock! Welcome to the Chatterbox!
Sorry, I get really excited about books.
HRH Queen Lavender Agatha Louisia the 67th of Riverdale ( my CAPATCHA, the automatic span tester) says ongf. I searched it, it stands for Ocular Nerve Growth Factor.

Same!!!
(February 20, 2016 - 7:37 pm)
@Linnea: Yes, we can have multiple threads, but it's unnessecary. There's nothing wrong with Biblophile's thread and by making another you're just taking up more space in the Chatterbox and subtracting from the validity from Biblophile's idea.

I would also recommend The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander.
Set in the medevial fantasy world of, you guessed it, Prydain, these 5 volumes follow the adventures of Taran, Assistant-Pig-Keeper.
Full of colorful characters that leap off the pages, engaging plotlines and good writing, these book can also boast to have their roots in ancient myth and legend.
When you're not feeling up for Middle-Earth (it can happen to the best of us) this lighter series make a perfect substitute. Check out the first one, "The Book of Three" from a library near you and discover them for yourself! :D

Okay, these ones just occured to me now, and I forgot to put them on my original list.
. Time of the Fireflies by Kimberly Griffiths Little
. The Girl Who Could Fly by Victoria Forester
(February 9, 2016 - 8:09 pm)
I love the girl who could fly!
I reccomend The Apothocary by Malie Meloy and the Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage.
(February 14, 2016 - 9:49 am)
YEEEEEEEEES LOVE THOSE BOOKS
(February 20, 2016 - 7:39 pm)
Aargh! This is hilarious! All the books I was going to put on this thread already have been! Including Prydain! And almost nobody has read this series! Well, I've got one.
