You got closer than most, it was Antonin Dolohov. He killed Fabian and Gideon, yeah, and escaped Azkaban in Book 5. Nice.

Hermione gave out false galleons that had the dates on the side instead of the serial number. Harry was able to alter all the other galleons by altering his own. It’s called a Protean charm. “But that’s a NEWT level charm, that is.” Hermione was inspired by the Death Eaters’ marks.
