@Cockleburr- I'm pretty sure that snake wasn't Nagini... If she was, then she was basically Voldemort - in a zoo.. doesn't really make sense. Sorry if this came across rudely or anything. :)

No, I'm serious! JK Rowling said it! And I think Nagini probably just came across Voldy while he was still 'less than the meanest ghost' and he possesed her. He mentioned doing that to snakes when he gave that big speech to the Death Eaters on the night he returned.
