Hey everyone !
Chatterbox: Blab About Books
Hey everyone !
I don't think I've ever done this before , I think I've suggested it , but always been rejected .. anyway , does anyone want to start a book club ? Or is there already one ?
I think that we should discuss it in this thread ( if we do decide to start one , or don't ) &we'll start it in a different thread . Sound aighht ?
Well , if we do decide to do one , I think that we need to pick a certain genre ? Or maybe just rule a certain genre out ? ( i really dunno what I'm doing , lol ) . Well for example , I'm all for a book club w. different types of books and genres , there are just certain types of books I refuse to read .
Like anything w. sorcery ( Harry Potter for example .. ) I am not going to read . I'm Christian , and in the Bible it specifically says not too engage w. that sort of stuff .. ( sorry , not trying to turn this into a religous debate .... )
So , if we start one , please no sorcery (:
That's all . Now you may comment (:
( Oh yea , please keep in mind that it's a book club , not school so no really big books .. or expensive ones )

A couple of months ago we had one, I think we only read one or two books before the thread died.
I'd be interested in doing another one. Anyone else?

I am a Christian too. I think a book club is a good idea.

I'll try! Though I've got to warn, I have trouble getting my hands on specific books.
@ Vida:
I'm a Christian too, so I totally get that.

Soo what kinds of books are you all interested in ?

I'd like to join. Does anyone have any suggestions for books?
(August 1, 2013 - 2:44 pm)
I'm in!
I recommend we read Sidekicked! Heh, no. Well, I'm just throwing it out there. If you don't have a library that has it, we shouldn't do it. It's not out in softcover yet.

I suggest Anne of Green Gables, because it has no sorcery, and there are several people on the CB who are obsessed with it, and the majority of us haven't read it, but I think it might not appeal to modern tastes.

That sounds like a good idea to me!
Another idea would be 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'. C.S. Lewis was a christian writer and his books were written to sort of symbolize parts of the Gospels.

Yeah but see that's what I don't like about that book.

Yes!

I'm joining. I suggest we read The Underneath by Kathi Appelt. The Underneath is good for all ages and is very well written. Another suggestion would be The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. The Westing Game is a mystery, so it's fun to figure out and it's a very funny book. It's also quite good for quoting randomly.

I've read all the Anne of Green Gables books (:

I'm in! I'll read any sort of book, but I can't think of any suggestions off the top of my head.
