Hi! 
My name is Monica and I'm new to Chatterbox, but I've gotten Cricket for a year and I LOVE IT!!!!  
I like to read, draw, and listen to music. I like to write, but I rarely actually get around to it. Some of my favorite series/books are: Keeper of the lost cities, Harry Potter, Narnia, Lord of the Rings, Fablehaven, and the Penderwicks. There are more, but those are a few. I can't wait to explore more of the Chatterbox and the Kyngdom. Can you just make up a name to use? That seems to be what a lot of people do.  
Welcome, Monica. We're pleased to meet you! Most Chatterboxers do make up a name to use here, but your own first name is fine, too. I suggest you look around to see what names others use. Then if you want to assume a different name for Chatterbox, try to pick one you don't see anyone else using. It gets confusing if two different people post comments under the same name.

Your AE is a character you make up to go along with your name, right?

Not exactly. An AE stands for alter-ego. So basically... hmm. Well, have you ever felt really, really shy or scared or excited all of a sudden? Like a whole different you had just *snaps fingers* appeared? That's what people like to think of as an AE. People create them to act the way they're embodying a part of yourself, like this:

 

Ughh. This is so boring.

 

That could be the side of you that feels bored sometimes! That AE would act bored all the time, whereas you wouldn't. It's like a character to represent an emotion you have and the way you have it. Here's another example:

 

**Aah! This is scary! Can we just go home, please?**

 

Which would be a scared side. If it helps, try looking at people's posts about their AEs. I reccomend looking at "AE Store! Hi!" Along with any thread along the lines of "New AE" or "Yay, New AE!"

Hi Changeling! I'm MoonKitten. I love Keeper of the Lost Cities!! And the Penderwicks, and Harry Potter, and... well, I could go on, but I'll leave it at that. :D Anyway, welcome! We're glad you're here. Also, what songs by Andrew Peterson do you like? I like his music too :)

I'm kind of late, but it's nice to meet you Changeling Child!!

Hope to see you around! I love Harry Potter as well. (I almost wrote it as Hairy Potter!! XD) I also love Cricket magazine!! The stories and letterbox are so much fun to read.
