Marus, Leo, Anna, and Sylvia all ran beside me through the city streets, the wind hitting my face as we went. We weaved around the people standing on the road, and towards the manor where my cousins and I lived with Uncle Richie. (Richie isn't related to any of them, but he grew up w/ their fathers.) Anna slowed to catch her breath, but the rest of us ran on. We could run farther and faster than her, and there was a good reason for that. But Anna could never know why my cousins and I could run so fast, or jump so high, or why we refused to go anywhere after dark on the night of the full moon. I stopped to wait for Anna while the others kept going. They reached the gate and climbed all 15 feet of it in almost no time at all. Anna and I came after them, and I climbed up as quickly as my cousins had. Anna climbed a little slower, but made it to the mansion about the same time as the rest of us. Sylvia glared at me for inviting Anna to run with us, tonight was Purnima, or full moon. I looked away to avoid meeting Sylvia's eyes, but I knew she was right: Anna had to go, before the pack arrived, and before the moon rose.

"Anna, thanks for coming, but I think you'd better go now." I told her.

"Why?" she asked.

"Because...." I faltered, not knowing what to say.

"Because Richie is having guests over tonight, and we have to be there. It's going to be pretty boring," Marus finished for me. I smiled gratefully at him as Anna said goodbye and left. We went into the house and locked the door, then ran to the back of the house and went out the back door. Richie was already there, welcoming the rest of our pack. Many of them had already changed, not waiting for Purnima's calling. I did the same, and ran out to meet them alongside my cousins.

Yes, I guess so. I'm developing her past as I write, I guess! :)

Halia-

The girl led me quietly to the kitchen. It was large with a granite table in the middle, including a good amount of stools. The cabinets looked newly furnished and the sink gleamed.

“Here.” The girl handed me a glass with water. I took it in my shaking hands and slowly drank.

“Sorry about Marus…” she told me and glanced nervously at my face with her bright green eyes.

I nodded quietly, but as hard as I tried, my thoughts still wandered back to my dreams. A shiver went down my back; a tear crept into my eye.

“Well, good night.” She dumped out her untouched water in the sink and tried to smile; then she left.

I sipped from the glass. My hands still quivered slightly. I wanted to forget my past, the gash on my side, the pain in my shoulder and be able to be free, but no matter how hard I tried, memories loomed in my mind.

I finished off the glass started to pace around the kitchen absentmindedly.

The knob of the door turned, making me drop the glass with a crash. I dove down, piercing my knees with shards. I didn’t gasp; I was used to pain.

A man, the one who had spoken with the English accent, Uncle Richie, walked in.

“Did I scare you?” He had soft brown eyes and was about fortyor older.

“No, I… I didn’t mean…” What was I doing? I was never scared, never nervous, never… A tear rolled down my cheek. I wasn’t crying, was I? Not because a little accident. I wasn’t myself at all.

“I’m sorry,” I told the man.

“Now, don’t worry. Let me help you…” He grabbed a towel and started to lightly wipe up the shards.

That’s when he noticed my bloody hands and knees. “What did you do?” he demanded, in a tone that seemed to be anger.

“I’m so sorry. I-“ My voice broke and I started to sob inlarge gushes of tears.
“I’m not angry! Don’t cry, little one.” He rested his large hands on my shoulders and pulled me up. “Come here.”

He embraced me in a fatherly way that I had never known. I only had scars to remember my Father. Uncle Richie was warm and large and I felt safe. I kept on crying and bleeding, but he didn’t seem to notice. He lifted me up in his big arms and carried me off.

This is the morning after Halia's post:

Tala--

I woke up the next morning, got dressed in a black T-shirt and jeans, and jumped out the window. (Nice morning routine, huh? Jumping out of a second story window first thing will really wake you up! :) I ran around from my window on the side of the house to the back, where I could see the forest.

I ran in wolf form, and howled loudly as I came to the river that separated Richie's property from the untamed woods beyond. I jumped over the rushing water in one bound, and kept running. As I slowed to rest, I heard a small sound on my left, and turned toward it. A growl started in my throat. I cautiously moved toward where I had heard the sound, and saw, about twenty feet away, the barrel of a hunting rifle sticking out of the foliage, and it was pointed straight at me. I ran, back towards the river. I heard the gun being cocked behind me, and pushed myself to run faster. I heard heavy footsteps approaching fast, and realized that I was slowing down.

I veered off to the right, running now in the general direction of Richie's front gate. But I couldn't go to Richie's with a hunter behind me! A shot rang out, and I saw something go by my ear and embed itself in the side of a tree up ahead. I paused for a moment when I saw it. It wasn't a bullet. It was a tranquilizer dart! I realized that whoever was behind me was probably part of some animal rescue/relocation thing. If I had been in human form I would have cursed, but my wolf mouth wasn't made for words. Suddenly I got an idea. I veered to the right again, but this time kept going in a circle, ending up behind the gunman. He was young, he looked barely older than me! I snarled and pounced, landing straight on his back and knocking him over. He somehow managed to roll over onto his back before he hit the ground, but before he could stand up I pinned him down with my front paws.

I growled at him, then went over to his tranquilizer gun, crushing it in my jaws and throwing it away from him. He backed up, still on his back, then began to stand up. He held his hand out as if to pet me, (which is like the dumbest thing you can do w/ wild animals) and I decided to humor him. I made my eyes big and child-like, like a sad pup does. Then I went over to him slowly, and placed my head under his hand. He gasped, surprised, then started to pet me. Stupid human boy. I thought. I looked up at his eyes, seeing for the first time that they were light brown. The boy kept petting me, and I just let him. Then he started to stand up, and I let him. Then he started toward where I had thrown his gun, and I growled loudly. He stopped, looking at me scared. I glared at him, then ran off. I ran back to the river, jumped over, and didn't stop running until I reached the manor.

Then I realized that the boy had followed me! I saw him right before I was about to change back to human form. I had led a human to our pack's home, and he now thought that I was just a tame wolf or something! He would probably talk to Richie now, saying that Richie should get professional help to rid his property of wolves. What had I done?

Halia-

Ding dong. The sound of a door bell sounded. I felt tired, but didn’t have the nerve to go back to sleep. A pile of clothes lay next to me.They surprisingly fit. I looked at myself in a mirror that I noticed for the first time.

I was wearing quite dark skinny jeans and a purple tank-top with a kind of low neck and five buttons. I left the top two open.

I felt surprisingly better this morning. I ran down the stairs and decided to find something to eat.

Uncle Richie was leading a young guy with sandy blonde hair into the living room. I wanted to turn around when I noticed Uncle Richie beckoning to me.

“You say a wolf? How big?” he asked.

“Um… Small and white with green eyes. I’ve never seen a wolf with green eyes before.”

“Aha. And you say it went into my house? You must have been dreaming!”

“I wasn’t, Sir! I swear!”

“Oh, now, don’t get excited. Sit down, I’ll get you a glass of water!” Uncle Richie exited the room. I shyly stood near the door.

Uncle Richie appeared again with a glass of sparkling water.

“Should I ask the kids?”

“You have kids?”

“My nieces and nephews.”

“Why are they with you?”

“Their parents were all in a sad accident…” He looked at his hands as if very sad.

“I’m sorry, sir.”

“Thank you. I’ll call the kids.” But there was no need. A girl and two boys entered as if on cue. But hadn’t there been two girls. Tala. Yes, that was her name. What was wrong with her?

“This is my niece Sylvia and the twins Marus and Leo. And, Halia? Don’t be shy. Come over…”

I stepped over. Marus gave me a look, so I sidled up to Sylvia. I felt proud, being included in the family.

“And, my niece Tala…” Tala ran in breathlessly. Seeing the boy on the couch, she quickly made an excuse.

“I got your foot fungus cream, Marus. It’s stronger than last time. You don’t want all of us with green feet.” Marus glared.

“Have any of you seen a wolf around?” He looked at each of us as if reading our thoughts. He stopped on Tala and wrinkled his brow; then he turned around.

“No one in our family has seen a wolf, but I’ll call if I do.”

The boy looked very confused, but didn’t say anything. He started to go and then looked at Tala. “Wow, your eyes are just like that wolf’s…” He turned to Uncle Richie. “Thank you.” Then he left.

After he was gone, Uncle Richie turned on Tala.

Tala--

"I'm sorry!" I told Uncle Richie. He glowered at me angrily. "I didn't mean to! I was kinda too busy running away to notice him following me!"

"Why were you even out there? You know I've told you never to go past the river!" Richie yelled, changing to wolf form as he finished his sentence. Rarely did Richie shift other than on Purnima. His chestnut-colored fur bristled. Then he got ahold of his anger and transformed back. He sighed as he plopped down on the couch. He uttered some choice curses before going over to the stairs that led to the cellar. He went down the stairs, and came back a few moments later with a bottle of wine. He then proceeded to disappear into his study, where he would most likely stay for the next few hours.

"Well, now you've really done it, Tala," Marus said gruffly.

"I'm sorry!" I said again. Marus shifted to wolf form as Richie had, but I knew that he wasn't about to change back anytime soon. I jumped up as he pounced, barely missing being shredded to bits. Marus was the violent one of our family. I shifted as I ran away, and as we barreled into the backyard, I could distantly hear Sylvia yelling something at us. Leo joined her, both of them screaming at Marus to stop. We rolled toward the river, Marus and I scratching and clawing at each other. I sprang up and ran back to the house, leaping up the trunk of the oak that stood in the yard. I climbed it faster than any normal human or wolf could have, and I bounded up onto the roof as I shifted back to human form. Marus stopped at the bottom of the tree to catch his breath, and as he did I slipped into the attic through a skylight. I ran down the stairs and into the living room again as the others came in the back door.

"I'm sorry." I told them for the third time, this time less loudly. My cousins went upstairs, Marus out of breath, Sylvia and Leo glaring at me. Throughout the whole thing, Halia had remained in her chair, silent.

"Now you have experienced a typical day in our house," I told her jokingly. She smiled slightly.

Then a crash echoes through the house. We both jump up; then I realize that it came from Richie's study. I sit back down, and say, "Remember how he took that big bottle of wine in there?" Halia nods.

"And you know he's a werewolf," I tell her. She nods again.

"Wine plus angry werewolf equals a really drunk, really angry werewolf behind those study doors, right?" Halia nods for a third time, and I finish my sentence:

"I wouldn't go in there for a while."

I'll join!

Name: Neoma

Age: 15

Human appearance: Long dark brown hair that is always in a pony tail. Medium/dark brown skin, dark brown eyes.

Wolf apearance: Medium size, dark brown fur & eyes.

Other: Does it work if I'm from another pack, not Tala's? And I come to Richie's house as a spy kind of, because Oberon, the leader of my pack, wants to pretty much conquer Tala/Richie's pack. That all right with everyone? :D

@ Neoma: Sure you can join! :) I'll let you introduce your character.

Ok, here is my first post:

Neoma:

"Oberon! We have located the home of the Eastern pack. Someone named Richard is leader now that Helios is dead. I am ready to lead a spy there to gather information on their strength and numbers." Finn told the king. I waited in the shadows for Oberon to call me.

"Neoma! Go with Finn to this Richard man's house and find out how large their pack is." I nodded toward the king. Then I looked at Finn and said,

"Lead the way." Finn nodded, his sandy brown hair bobbing up and down a little as he did. Then he transformed, his light brown eyes shining. I ran after him, and as we reached the edge of our territory, we changed back to human form. We caught a bus, and rode for miles. This Richard lived too long for even us to run. We got off somewhere near the Eastern Pack's southern territory line, in front of a large manor.

"Here it is. I saw the youngest of Richard's nieces in wolf form, past the river, and I went into their house to see if the wolf I saw was just a wolf, or one of us. It was her. They had no idea that I'm from the Northern Pack. They thought I was a human." Finn laughed scornfully as he said this. It hadn't taken much to make his pack scent disappear, and the Eastern Pack leader had bought it! I had washed away my pack scent before Finn had gotten back, he had used our telepathy to let me know that I would need to.

"I'll keep you informed once I get in." I told him. Then I ran to the gate and climbed it in no time flat, as all us wolves could. I wondered what Richard would be like as I rang the front doorbell.

The End.

There's my post. Do what you wish with my character now, and if you don't like that the boy from the forest is w/ me, then tell me and i'll change it.

Halia-

The doorbell rang. No one seemed like they would get it so Igot up from the empty living room, and went to the door.

The girl standing on the doorstep had long dark brown hair, dark eyes and glistening brown skin. She had a hitchhiker’s backpack on herback.

“May I help you?” I kept the door only open a crack.

“Is someone home with you? I really need something to drink.I’ve been out all day…” The girl told me. Her brown eyes seemed truly helplessso I gave in. I hadn’t been around enough wolves to recognize the scent; thatwas the mistake I made.

“Take a seat in there.” I showed the girl to the living roomwhere she took a seat on the couch. “Let me get,” I paused hesitantly, “UncleRichie… Umm… Yes, one sec.”

I had forgotten Tala’s warning, and walked up the stairs toUncle Richie’s office.

“Hello,” I asked as I knocked on the door. Nobody answered.

Maybe he fell asleep, Ithought.

I decided it would be best just to go in.

Uncle Richie was sitting in a big chair, his eyes gazed over.I started to back out, but then he looked at me.

“Michaela? Come ‘ere.” I continued tip toeing out, but hestood up and started to hobble toward me.

“Uncle Richie, there’s a guest downstairs. I just wanted tosee-“

“Kaela! Don’t you bother. Come sit with me.” He kept walkingtowards me. My mind whirled, and fear rose in my chest.

“Oh, there’s the telephone. I’ll be back,” my excuse was soawful, that I could imagine Uncle Richie understanding it in his state.

“Come to daddy.” His arms reached out for me.

“No, I really have to-“ I turned and stepped away.

“DON’T YOU DARE GO AWAY!” He bellowed and changed formimmeadiately.

I spun on my heal, starting to run.

The wolf pounced, ripping open the delicate skin along myright arm. I screamed as pain pulsed through my vains. I screamed again as thewolf/Uncle Richie staggered back into human form, and began to come towards me.

“Michaela, why are you on the ground?” Who was Michaela? I gulpedas blood ran over my arm.

Tala ran into the room. Her cheeks were slightly red fromcrying (she was still upset about her mistake). When she saw me on the floorwith my bleeding arm, and Uncle Richie advancing, she took a stance in front ofme.

“Back.” Tala held out her hand and stared at the werewolfhard. Uncle Richie slowly went back to his chair and slunk down.

“What were you thinking?” She demanded.

“I-I forgot and there’s a girl in the living room downstairs.I just wanted to tell him and…” I looked at my arm in deep pain.

“You need help. Okay, I need to get Marus. You stay here… I’lltell Sophie about the girl… She’ll talk with her. Stay put.” Tala turned aroundand ran down the hall.

Tala--

"Marus! Get down here!"  I yelled at my cousin. Marus opened his bedroom door slightly.

"What do you want?" He asked, grumbling.

"Halia's bleeding. Uncle Richie's drunk and talking about Michaela again, and Halia did something to make him mad."

Marus immediately ran downstairs to help Halia. I ran to Sylvia's room.

"Sylvia! There's someone downstairs in the living room, can you go make sure whoever it is doesn't see Halia?"

"Why wouldn't we want someone to see Halia?" Sylvia asked, poking her head out.

"'Cause she's bleeding! We can't let some stranger see Uncle Richie drunk and Halia bleeding!" I told her. She ran down the stairs as Marus had. I followed, hearing Sylvia say something along the lines of, 'Hi! What's your name? You need something? Let's go into the kitchen..."

I ran back to Richie's study, where Marus was helping Halia up, and Richie was crying hysterically. I helped Marus get Halia out, then I locked the door of the study from the inside before leaving, so no one else could disturb Richie and potentially be shredded to bits.

Marus helped Halia get upstairs and into the bathroom so he could bandage her wounds. I ran into the kitchen to keep the stranger occupied with Sylvia.

"Tala, this is Neoma." Sylvia said. "She says she's traveled a long way and needs somewhere to stay."

"Well we'd be more than happy to point you in the direction of a hotel, there's a really nice one about six blocks away." I told the stranger; Neoma.

"The problem is," Neoma said, sounding kind of sad, "I don't have much money."

"Well there are plenty of nice people around here, I'm afraid we don't have any room for house guests." What I was thinking was: No humans aloud in this house. But I couldn't very well say that.

"I am ready to try and get a job, and earn some money to pay rent with, so I would be a paying guest." Neoma said.

"In that case, stay as long as you want." Sylvia said. I turned to her.

'Bad idea. BAD IDEA!!!!!!!' I told Sylvia with telepathy.

'She'll be gone before Purnima, if that's what you're worried about.' Sylvia said.

'No, I'm just worried about the fact that she'll be a human in a house full of were-wolves!!!' I thought to her.

'Oh relax. Nothing will happen as long as Uncle Richie stays sober.' Sylvia smiled when she thought this.

'Hmm......six were-wolves and one human in a big empty house all alone. What could possibly go wrong?' I thought. Sylvia rolled her eyes.

Throughout the whole thing, Neoma had sat there drinking from the glass of water Sylvia had given her, oblivious. "I suppose you can stay for a few nights...." I told her reluctantly.

"Oh, thank you!" she said. "Thanks a million!"

"Sylvia, show her to an empty room, and don't forget to let EVERYONE know that we have a.... guest. Let them know so they don't do anything stupid and make us look bad in front of our guest." I said, glaring at Sylvia as she led Neoma upstairs.

@Tala- Oh, sorry! I got the names mixed up! They both begin with S and I somehow got confused! Sorry! Michaela is a pretty name. Are you new? I haven't seen a Michaela around here before!

Halia-

Marus studied the wound closely. “What did you do to make him do this?” He glared at me as if I had done something.

“I didn’t do anything…” I told him and winced in pain as he touched the wound.

“That hurts?”

“Wounds like this normally don’t hurt,” I mumbled.

“What do you mean?” Marus demanded.

How stupid could I be?! I had just given price to my history.

“Nothing… I mean… I… uh,” I stuttered, which moved me into a worse position.

“Are you used to these wounds?” I wanted to say, Yes, look at my back, but I just bared my teeth, and stayed quiet while Marus slowly sewed my skin. His eyes kept moving over to me in a concentrated way.

“Halia,” he addressed me kindly for the first time. “Where are you from?”

“Um? This country?”

“No, I mean, your history.” He looked at me again.

I said nothing.

“Halia, what are you hiding from us?”

“Nothing.”

“You are, what are you hiding?”

“Nothing! I told you already! There’s nothing wrong with me. I don’t have to tell you anything at all! I have the right to stay quiet, and NOTHING and NOBODY will make me tell ANYONE about myself. Isn’t knowing that I’ma fourteen year old named Halia enough?!” I jumped up as the wave of anger hit me. Marus stared confused. My arm had been half wrapped with gauze.

“I didn’t mean you had to tell me.”

“Excuses! I hate excuses! I hate lies! I hate this stupid scar that will stay on my arm forever just because some drunk wolf scratched me. AND I hate everything that has to do with the monster I am! So, leave me alone and let me forget!” I stormed out of the bathroom and down the stairs in a huff of anger.

I ran down the stairs, passing Sylvia and the stranger. Then I ran outside. I wanted to change into my real self, but-no-I wouldn’t do that now. No. Why had I blown up at Marus? Why had that anger all of a sudden hit me?

I sunk down on the step with my head in my hands.

@ E.M: No, I just go by a different name on Chatterbox. I'm Kim A. :D My real name is Mikaela, but on Chatterbox I go by Kim A, Tala, and a few other character names in the other RPs. :)

Tala--

I heard crying, and crept up toward the house from where I was in the forest. I was in human form; no one could change form until the stranger left. I saw Halia sitting on the back steps, sobbing. I was surprised to see her crying, she hadn't shed a tear since she had come to Richie's house. Not that I had seen, anyway. Maybe she cried at night, when I was asleep. I wondered if I should go to comfort her, but I couldn't bring myself to disturb her. When she went back inside, I turned away from the mansion and walked to the river. I leapt over it easily, as I always did, but found today that I had an audience. I was glad I wasn't in wolf form just then, because out from behind a tree came Anna. I hadn't given a second thought to her, our lives had been so hectic lately that hanging out with Anna seemed like distant history.

"Haven't seen you around lately," she said. "Where you been?"

"Places," I said dumbly. "I should go. I'll see you soon."

"Sure you will," Anna said doubtfully.

I turned and ran back to the manor without looking back once.

@Tala- Oh, I should have known! I think you mentioned your name on another thread!

Halia-

I dried my eyes and got up from the step. Crying made me feelweak and useless, like one of those lifeless dolls in a store window.

Tala entered the gate to the manor. She’s out of breath, looksannoyed, and worried at the same time.

“What’s wrong?” I tried to make my voice sound level andstrong.

Tala studied me with her bright green eyes and said: “Nothing,I mean, yes, there is something wrong.”

“What?” I felt a sudden trust between us. Tala then looked aroundnervously, and came closer. “Do you think that girl, Neoma, is suspicious?”

“Hm… Are hitchhikers not normal here?”

“No, I don’t mean that… I just think…”

“What do you think?”

“There’s something odd about this whole thing.”

My sixth sense started to tingle. She’d seen something in theforest.

“What’s out there?” My hand gestured to the overgrown wood.

Silence.

“What did you meet there?”

“Anna.”

“Who’s Anna?”

“A friend of our’s…”

“Why is that making you nervous?”

“She doesn’t walk around the forest alone… Normally.”

“Maybe she wanted to try something new.”

“You don’t know Anna.”

“Do you?”

“Ever since…”

“Ever since what?”

Tala searched my face as if looking for something that sheshouldn’t trust, something suspicious.

“Ever since Michaela died. Uncle Richie, he thought we shouldlearn more about humans so he had us meet up with Anna. She’s okay, but…”

“Uncle Richie’s daughter died?”

“She’d be twenty three now.”

“What happened?”

We were interrupted by Marus who came running out of the door.
