Percy Jackson/Harry Potte

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Percy Jackson/Harry Potte

Percy Jackson/Harry Potter similarities

This probably should be in BaB, but it doesn't seem like many people go there. Anyway, there are a ton of similarities in PJ and HP, mostly characters, which I would like to share. I couldn't really match up Luke from PJ, but if you have any ideas, please tell me.

Percy Jackson=Harry Potter

Grover=Ron

Annabeth (daughter of the goddess of wisdom)=super-smart Hermione

Chiron=Dumbledore

Mr. D=Snape

Kronos=Voldemort

Clarisse=Draco (although she's a little nicer than him)

Ares=Lucious Malfoy

Travis and Connor Stoll (twin sons of the god of thieves)= Fred and George (duh)

Camp Half-Blood=Hogwarts

Thalia's Pine Tree=Whomping Willow

The sky at camp=Ceiling of Great Hall

The Gods=Ministry of Magic

Even if they are kinda alike, I still enjoy Percy Jackson.

...We then scream "Hey! HP, PJ, Eragon, LotR, and Star Wars are all the exact same thing with different names!"

Using HP as a basis (I know that best) although LotR is really the original.

Harry = Percy, Bilbo, Frodo, Eragon, Luke (SW Luke, not PJ)

Ron = Grover, whatshisface from LotR I think it was Sam?, Han Solo

Hermione = Annabeth, Saphira

Ginny = Arya, Leia

Dumbly = Yoda, Brom, Chiron

Draco = Luke (from PJ)

Kronos = Voldy, Darth, the Emperor, the villain who debateably does or does not exist in Eragon and whose name I can't remember

Order of the Phoenix = the Varden

Sorcerer's Stone/Horcruxes = dragon eggs, the Ring, any number of objects from PJatO

Founders = gods from PJ, the Force

Hogwarts = Camp Halfblood, certain places in Star Wars

Fudge = Galbatorix, Jabba, Mr. D, Gollum

And on and on the list goes.

In my opinion Leia would go under Hermione, rather then Ginny. For she is Luke's sister, and ends up with Han Solo. Harry thinks of Hermione as a sister, and she ends up with Ron.

Well, the only problem I have with Draco=Luke from PJ, is that Luke was nice to Percy before he turned bad, and Draco was always mean. That's why I think Draco and Clarisse go together better.

Alternatively, Zeus' lightning bolt = ancient mythological weapon that predates the HP-verse philosopher's stone by about 2,000 years.

Hmmm your right!!! It's funny the way you find similarity between different stories/movies isn't it? I'm sure the writers don't mean it to be like that though. :)

@ Kendra's first post: Good point.

@ Kendra's second post: Well, a lot of contemporary fantasy is the same plot reused over and over again...

@ MJ: True. I put Luke (PJ) with Draco because they were both sort of used by the real villain. Umm... Annikan kinda falls under that category too, when he was younger.

I <3 Annikan.

@Kendra: Oh, but they do. It's all part of a global plot. You see, it has been prophesied that someday soon, a great threat will come to the earth, and it has been seen more or less what will happen. Our governments know it will be important for us to know this, so that we know what to do when the time comes. But not enough people would believe in it if they told us it was a prophecy. So they are getting it to us in the only way they can: by planting it in our fantasy literature.
