Vi's Embroidery Threa

Vi's Embroidery Thread! (pun unintended)

I've been looking for a place to post my embroidery for a while now and remembered the CB, so here I am :D I started stitching when I was 10-11, took a break for a couple of years, and only just started back up again in January. My mom introduced me to the art, but mostly she just got the ball rolling-- almost all of what I know now is self-taught (with ample help from the internet, of course). My favorite stitches are French knots and split stitch, and I usually use three- or six-strand floss.

That's all I can think of to say for now! I'm planning to finish a piece tomorrow, which I'll probably post soon, but if this thread is up before then I might send in an older piece first :)

omg doing lightsabers in those odd little spots is genius!! I need to try doing that. I'm not too great at free embroidery (I prefer cross stitch, when I finish doing all the Bad Batch helmets I'll post them here :>) but this looks kinda easy-ish. plus I have TONS of scrap thread that I could use :0

Finally finished with this, I’m really happy with how the floral details came out! Graduation is on Monday-- I just need to get through two finals and a chorus performance first :'0

Wow! Your braver than me! I've thought about doing something similar, the pixar UP house and the balloons could be knots, but I thought I may or may not go insane. On one hand I think it would be satisfying (as I'm sure it is for you.) but on the other hand it's probably a lot of hard work. Either way you inspired me to maybe give it a try! ;3 Awesome work Vi!

Oh that's really creative!! It is hard work, but worth it in the end-- you should definitely give it a try, I bet it would look great :D

French knots are easier than people claim they are!! You pretty much just wrap the working thread around the needle, push the needle partially into the fabric, pull the working thread so that the wraps are tight around the needle and right up against the fabric, then pull the needle all the way through.

WOW impressive! I can imagine you are in pain after that adventure. But it looks so worth it!

Another update + sneak peek of the rest of the piece (because there was no way to get both mini-bees without the big bee too!) Unfortunately I can't share the lettering as it's in another language, which is a shame because for my first time trying couching I’m fairly proud of it.
