Vi's Embroidery Thread! (pun unintended)
I've been looking for a place to post my embroidery for a while now and remembered the CB, so here I am :D I started stitching when I was 10-11, took a break for a couple of years, and only just started back up again in January. My mom introduced me to the art, but mostly she just got the ball rolling-- almost all of what I know now is self-taught (with ample help from the internet, of course). My favorite stitches are French knots and split stitch, and I usually use three- or six-strand floss.
That's all I can think of to say for now! I'm planning to finish a piece tomorrow, which I'll probably post soon, but if this thread is up before then I might send in an older piece first :)

Got a hand-me-down hoodie from my sister today-- what should I embroider on it? It's light blue, and I’m thinking I want to do something on the left of the chest (i.e. where the pocket might be on a shirt). I’m thinking a raccoon, opossum, pigeon, or a similar sort of creature. Any thoughts?

Maybe a raccoon?

A raccoon would be super cute! Or a bunny rabbit amongst some flowers. I love bunny rabbits :) Or perhaps a squirrel looking all cute and perky and standing on its hind legs :)

an opossum would be really fun! but since it's blue, maybe something flying like in the sky or a fish? You could do a shark! You could even do a tide pool scene with an epaulette shark or something if you were up for something bigger. or a hammerhead or blacktipped reef shark or something. or a whale. if it was darker maybe a bat!
is it different embroidering on knit fabrics? will the fabric pucker? I've only ever done woven fabrics.
also i actually found something i embroidered but literally everything about it is rushed because i was doing it in like 2 days before Halloween to make a treat bag for one of my stuffies. also i'm just not great at embroidering XD maybe i'll post it though idk... a lot of the french knots in particular are messy. thanks for this thread though it's been getting me back into embroidery

@admins - I'm not sure if this is how things work but I accidentally submitted the last comment with my real name, is there anyway that could be removed? Thank you so much, and I understand if that's not possible!
I hope I changed the right comment. It's better if you specify the beginning words of the comment.

That's the one, thank you again! I'll keep that in mind in case it happens again (although hopefully it won't). So sorry for the inconvenience.

I really liked the idea of the blue being the sky so I decided to go with the pigeon because I thought it would be easiest (+ I just really like birds haha).

Oops, did not realize how terrible that picture was. Here's a slightly better one!
Next up: graduation gift for my sister!

It's adorable! And the stitches are beautiful :D
I don't do embroidery myself, but I agree that it would be great to see other people's stitches too! I'm really enjoying seeing yours, though, they're so creative and pretty.

Awwwww! That's sooo cute!

Little WIP! I love how the strings look (although the picture doesn't really do it justice), but I don’t think I’ll ever work with metallic threads again-- it's so much worse than all the horror stories I've heard :'0
I do believe the pegs are supposed to be asymmetrical, but the head being crooked is 100% my own doing oops

Beautiful embroidery Vi! I've got some projects that I want to share but I don't have them with me right now. \:" also does anyone know the difference between a violin and a viola? I can never figure it out.
(June 1, 2024 - 6:27 pm)
This is a great violin, Vi! It's actually really acurate, so much more so than many art works of violins out there. I've been enjoying seeing all your beautiful embroidery creations!
@Tea'n'Tacos: The difference between a violin and viola is that a violin's strings are tuned E, A, D, and G; whereas a viola's are A, D, G, and C. The viola's pitch register is lower than a violin's, and violas are generally bigger in size.
