"Mine's been busier than I'd expected - I've been going for a lot of hikes with some of Poinsettia's other AEs, and Stormi (one of the AEs) persuaded me to help with directing this play she's putting on, which has taken up a lot of time, but been really fun. And I've signed up for some chess lessons which I'm looking forward to. So far it's been a great summer." I look around the room. The snack table is piled high with appetizing-looking stuff, and I realize that I'm actually sort of hungry (I skipped lunch because I was so caught up in Stormi's play). "Want to go check out the snack table?" I ask.\

~"^Yeah, same," says Cyrus, and I immediately feel relieved. It's sort of comforting to have someone who feels the same way about social gatherings as I do. "It's just so...overwhelming. Amarillis says it's a good social opportunity, but--I'd much rather stay at home or go do something with just one or two people. Uh..do you want some tiramisu? Maybe we could go outside for a little...^~
~"~I'd love some tiramisu,~" I say, and help myself to some. "~Going outside is a good idea. This isn’t exactly my type of music,~" I add, nodding in the direction the loud, upbeat music is coming from.~
~I take a bite of the tiramisu as we make our way towards the back door. “~Oh, wow, this is amazing!~” I say. “~Do you do a lot of baking, then?~”

^"^Yeah! I really like it...it's just really relaxing and it helps me unwind. I didn't really know what "ocean themed" food to make, so I went with coconut, which I guess is a tropical flavor?^" I finish, taking a seat on a patio chair. "^I also love puzzles..which, maybe it's kinda silly? But it also makes me feel relaxed and safe. What about you? Other than baking, what do you like to do?^"

~"~Oh, I agree! Baking can be really relaxing. Well, unless your sibling insists on helping you,~" I add, "~and then you have to make sure they don't burn the house down, or get eggs in their hair, or anything.~" I laugh, somewhat nervously, and take a seat beside Cyrus. "~Oh, and I don't think that's silly at all! I love puzzles - it's kind of comforting how there's always an answer,~" I shrug, and Cyrus asks about what I like to do. "~Well, I do all sorts of art,~" I reply. "~I don't think there's an artform I haven't tried. Painting, photography, collage, sketching - I love every type of art. I - well, I guess, words - words can be difficult, so I use art to express myself. It's so much easier to paint something that shows how I feel then to talk about it.~" I don't know if I've ever told anyone besides Fir and Pangolin about that, but - but I feel like I can trust Cyrus. "~Um, what about you, do you do any art?"

^Mirage asks if I do any art. "^Yeah, actually, I do! Arden has been teaching me some of their tricks--a couple days ago they taught me how to make paint from nature. That was really cool.^"^
^I fiddle with my suit buttons. "^So...would you ever want to do something? Like, uh. Just us?^" I can tell I'm bright red but I just sit there, waiting for her to reply.

Arum asks if we could go hiking. I love the idea instantly. "Yeah, that would be great!" I exclaim. "There's this - um - special place I discovered, off in the woods near my house. I'd really like to show it to you, if you feel like it?" I start heading toward the snack table, hoping I don't look as nervous as I feel. "Oh, I brought shrimp sandwiches, much to Oriole's disgruntlement. What did you bring?"\

I'm about to make my way over to a laughing group of friends when I find myself at the snack table. Hmm... maybe that won't be so bad after all. Jk, it will be. Bc this is still SO. UNFAIR! And everyone else is going around, having fun... UGH! Why did Celine bring me here?! Is she trying to TORTURE me?! Well then, she's doing a mighty good job of it. I’m so sorry for the wait!! The internet at my grandma’s house is really slow, plus I’ve been really busy lately, but still. :/

|Kaspar suggests a place near his house where we could go hiking. I can tell by his voice that it’s a special place, a place he hasn’t shared with many other people. “|Yeah, I’d love to see it sometime!|” I reply. We reach the snack table and Kaspar says that he brought shrimp sandwiches. “|I brought seaweed rolls,|” I say. “|I wasn’t really sure what else to bring…|” I trail off, distracted by whatever song is playing. It would be fun to dance to, I think. No, never mind. I glance at Kaspar and then down at the table. “|So, um, the music’s nice, isn’t it?” I say shakily. I know I’ll regret not asking him to dance, but I really like him and…I just don’t want to ruin what we have by rushing into things. I’ve made that kind of mistake too many times before.

~Cyrus says that Arden, another one of Amarillis’s AEs, has been teaching him some art techniques. I’m about to respond and say that that’s really cool, but then he turns red and says, “^So…would you ever want to do something? Like, uh. Just us?^” My heart skips a beat and I flush, my face bright red. “Like a—like a date?” I splutter, surprised, and then wonder if that came off as rude. I like Cyrus — I really do! — but I wasn’t expecting that. “~I—I’m sorry, I meant, yeah, that sounds nice. So, um…what exactly do you have in mind?”~

\"Oh, seaweed rolls are delicious," I say, but I'm only half paying attention to the idea of food at the moment, despite having been the one who suggested investigating the snack table. I'm wondering if maybe we could dance together... after all, this is supposed to be a dance party, right? But would that be too much? I don't even know yet if Arum likes me the way I like her, let alone being at the stage where we can go on dates and go dancing and such. Something Oriole's always saying to me flits through my mind - "You're too hesitant about stuff! You need to take risks and lighten up!" I glance at Arum. She looks a little nervous herself, and I wonder if she's thinking about dancing too.
\“|So, um, the music’s nice, isn’t it?”| she asks, her voice a little shaky. We're probably both overthinking this way too much.\
\"It's great," I answer enthusisastically. "This is one of my favorite songs, actually. Um - I know we were going to eat something, but would you prefer to try some dancing? It's okay with me either way." I wink at her. "No pressure." But I'm hoping she'll say yes.\
