Dear Whomever This
Chatterbox: Pudding's Place
Dear Whomever This
Dear Whomever This May Concern,
I am the Gatekeeper of the old palace in your town, which is now turned into a resort. Even if you don't live in Pudding, it's a relatively short hop over. Please pack your bags, and come! You're allowed to take companions such as AEs and CAPTCHAs, and additional pets. Kindly fill out the form on the other side of this paper, and pack your bags. The train will be arriving at the nearest station at midnight. I sincerely hope you properly equip yourself. It would be a shame if you died before you truly enjoy your stay at the palace.
Sincerely,
The Gatekeeper
"Are you sure that this letter is meant for me?"
"Yes my liege. Your name was written about forty-three times on the envelope."
You sit back, and massage your temples. "Do you think it could be a threat? They suggest murder, or death at the very least," you mutter to the butler.
"I do not know. The writer seemed genuinely concerned."
"Pack my bags. They must be ready by midnight. I shall come out when I have finished filling out the back."
"Are-are you actually going on this preposterous venture?!"
"My loyal servant, there is only one way to find out the true intentions of this letter."
You dismiss the butler, and flip over the paper. You see the following.

You're about to turn it back over when your eye catches sight of something you're sure that hadn't been there before. It reads: Please come properly equipped, it really would be a shame if you were murdered. The life expectancy at the palace is rather low due to . . . unfortunate technicalities.
You sigh, and start to fill out the sheet.
~~~
I will take twelve people before I start; feel free to join after, but still fill out the sheet. If you hate Broadway musicals, I suggest you bring earmuffs. Also, the train is rather old, so I highly advise your character to bring duck tape or something like a hook to hold on by.
Okay, assuming that Starseeker's joining, we'll start! I know there's still one spot left, but anyone who wants to take that position can do so later in the story. Well, I'll be posting once a week, maybe twice, or three times (which is highly doubtful). I'll send out the first part on Saturday, and keep doing that.
“Quill, I’m sleepy,” Harper moaned.
“Shh. The train should be coming along any minute. It’s -” Quill checked her watch, “eleven fifty-nine. Besides, I need to think. Stop interrupting.”
Quill’s mind was whirling. I hate ski lodges. Someone always turns out to be a serial killer. And the owner of the resort is always some type of crook. But that’s the whole reason I’m on this trip - I have to figure out who this gatekeeper is. And -
“Quil! Quil! Itss come ingg!” Alex squeaked excitedly.
Quill looked up. A train that looked like it had come right out of a time warp portal was speeding along the rusty tracks, sending up showers of sparks. Her jaw dropped. The train was like any normal train, except for the obvious fact that it was extremely old, and nearly broken - no, already broken. There was a grating screech that made Quill wince, and the shabby piece of metal gradually came to a stop. A rusty door clanged open, revealing a shivering Kitten holding on to a handrail, and a duck-taped Magnolia.
“Magnolia,” Quill said cautiously after she found her voice, “why are you duck taped?”
“The driver has paws,” Kitten explained after she had calmed down a bit.
Quill reached for her coral bag, just as Harper shut the door with another resounding “CLANG!”
“Hold on tight, this might be a leetle rough!” the purr of a kitten came from the front of the train.
Kitten turned to Quill. “Can I borrow your duck tape?”
~~~
“Mew, I’ll take the wheel now!” a voice commanded from the train car.
“Yes ma’am!” the kitty driving the train squeaked.
Quill sighed in relief. Now that all the Chatterboxers had been picked up, they were finally heading to The Palace. And this new person seemed like they new what they were doing. The train jerked forward, and the once-choppy ride turned into smooth sailing, punctuated by a few rattles and bumps.
The previous cat-driver walked into the room. She sat down, and started grooming. “The Palace company is sorry for the old train,” she mewed in a rehearsed voice. “The Palace is fully renovated, but we do not have to budget to continue repairs on the train, carriages, and basement.”
“Mmphh. I’m not so sure about that,” Ezra smirked.
“Be nice,” Vyolette scolded.
Quill noticed that Vyolette’s face reddened as she realized she had just contradicted an entirely different person, and she lapsed into an awkward silence.
“So, uh, do you like reading?” Quill asked Vyolette, trying to “break the ice”.
“I love reading!” Vyolette smiled. It was a shy smile, but Quill thought that it was at least a start.
“Who do you think the Gatekeeper is? I wrote a quick message to her, or him, asking if they were Rose Bud. Honestly, I wish they were. They said no,” Aspen jabbered to Allie, whom had become quick friends with Aspen.
“Oh, I don’t know. I don’t want to make any guesses,” Allie laughed.
The low hubbub of voices was interrupted by one voice. “Welcome to the palace,” a woman said.
~~~
The train doors flew open, revealing a stunning sight. A palace, complete with high arches and sparkling domes met their eyes. And it was made entirely of luminescent crystal.
Also, sorry for the shortness! I guess this is just a kind of preview/prologue.
