Sewing, Knitting, Crocheting Thread!!!

Hi! This is a thread where you can post things you've sewn, crocheted, knitted, woven, embroidered... whatever! It's like Lap's art posting thread but for fabric and thread-type stuff. I don't know how many people do that type of stuff, but we'll see... Anyway, this way you can, like in Lap's thread, comment on people's art and techniques and stuff and post your own!

I mainly sew stuff like clothes and other things, but post whatever you want!

:)

Wow, I said "stuff" four separate times. I need to improve my English...

Well I guess I'll start us off with a picture of my quilt.

I also posted it  on the Art thread before I made this one, but here it is.

Wowwowwowwowwow! That's A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

I've gone through crocheting, sewing, and knitting phases. The last time I tried to sew the knot that tied it closed came apart, while I was wearing the shirt I made. *Visibly shivers* I had my real shirt in my locker, so I was okay. Anyways, after that I haven't sewed. But... in the summer of 2014 I got really obsessed with crocheting. I have a bunch of cool crocheted stuff from that period of time, like a purse (it is so beautiful and perfect: I don't know how I did it), a few pencil grips (I made loads, but I lost a lot of them), a spiral, a rose headband, and more. I think I have a little drawstring bag filled with little thing-ys somewhere, but I lost my hairbows. I can only knit scarves, and I started one recently which I never finished. This doesn't really count, but at camp I made a few friendship bracelets that I'm still wearing on my anklet.

Anyways, this is a really cool thread!

Sincerely,

Moonlight

When I get the chance I'll post the skirt I made. Thanks for making this thread, Caroline!

I've made an awesome handkerchief skirt, a shirt that fits oddly, loads of pillows, a winter hat, and a couple of pairs of PJ pants! I also recently cut a shirt that was too big down the middle and hemmed the new sides so that it's now more of a sweater type thing.

I learned how to knit once. I made a scarf about six inches long that took me about four years. Knitting is not my style.

I do like to finger crotchet yarn, just as a relaxing, repetitive activity. It just produces a slightly thicker string, so it's not the best of crafts.

Also, as a project for my Bat Mitzvah, I sewed thirty hats for a homeless shelter near me. I had a lot of help from my friends, who spent an afternoon cutting and sewing with me! I made the hats out of fleece, and they were reversable and had earflaps. I mailed them in, but I don't know if they ever arrived...I sincerly hope that they did.

That stuff sounds so cool! My grandmother sews, so she and I make lots of stuff together. She helped me make a summer pajama outfit once, and a winter nightgown. We're gonna try a dress next. She's made me LOADS of stuffed animals, and I've sewn my dogs some stuff, so Ya. I'm gonna try to get better at sewing clothes and such so I can make my own. I also sewed like eight wallets for people for Christmas.

Some clothing is quite easy, like skirts, but others are really difficult to get right and to fit right, like shirts. Good luck!

Oh, cool! I've started many different knitting projects, but haven't finished any. I have all the pieces for a sock monkey, I just need to fit them together.

Knitters: Help! Does anyone know what the abbreviation FB means? I can't find it anywhere!

Does it mean knit "front and back"? I just watched a tutorial about how to do it, apparently it creates an extra stitch on your row.

Huh, I'll look that up. But what is the difference between that and just adding a stitch? Thanks, Caroline! Oh, and I started putting my sock monkey together! I've got the body all sewed up, I just need to do the arms and tail, then put the ears and nose on!

Hmmm actually I really have no idea. Maybe its just another way of adding a stitch? no idea, honestly. :)

Can't wait to see your sock monkey!!!!!

Yes, it means knit front and back (of the same stitch). Search "knitting fb" and your find directions on how to do it.

I love kntting and sewing! I like to experiment. :) Lately I'm knitting a sweater, but I'm making it up as I go... I'll have to see if it works out! (I wanted to showcase the spiral rib pattern, but I have to work it while decreasing, which I haven't confirmed is possible. :D)

@anyone - what's your favorite project that you've started (whether or not you've finished it)?
