Challenges Thread

- You have until the due date and time (central time) to submit answers to the current challenge.

- One answer per partnership may be submitted.

- At least one correct answer by the due date is necessary for the entire group to receive the challenge's clue.

- You may interact with the enviornment in any way you like. You may also speak to as many people in the environment as you want. Chat, ask them questions, etc. Once you post your end of the conversation, I'll submit their responses to you.

- If a partnership is eliminated, any answer they submit will not be considered.

Good luck.

Use all the help you can get. If you need to work with everyone, then by all means, work with everyone.

Ahh! I haven't even taken Algebra 1 yet! Rose bud, do you know any of this? I'm probably not going to be any help on this challenge, sorry.

I'm no math genius but I think I solved the first and second problem. I'm still trying to figure out how to get a color out of some numbers...

For the first problem I got : x=8 and y=0

For the second one I got:   x=6.9997 and y=1.999985; round that to get about x=7 and y=2

I'm still working on the third one. I'll let you know if I ever solve it...

So, for getting a color out of numbers, I have discovered a color generator thingy. But with only four numbers I'm not sure of the exact color but I'm thinking some sort of blue...

Not that that helped any....

Honestly, I don't want l be doing this, but I am. Really I'm not trying to be cocky or make fun of you (sorry if I was/am), but your comments are making me laugh. Just the way you word them is really funny to me.
But hey, kudos for figuring out it has trigonometry. I thought that part had something to do with coding :P

Anyhow, um, I guess I could give you the numbers, if that's okay with Ruby M. I could also give you some tips . . .

Warning, I may get some wrong. I'm famous for knowing how to do it but can easily miscalculate something by accident . . .

Working on it right now with a pen and a tiny notepad in a hotel room, xD

Absolutely. If you have any information or ideas, throw them out there.

Heck, have you seen my math scores? Oh, well of course you haven't. Anyway, I also am notorious for simple calculation errors. For the evil triggy stuff, I just Googled 'What does sin mean in math,' read the first two lines of the article, and went: 'Ruby is evil. I don't think he knows quite how young we all are.' Then I posted that he was evil. And we went from there.

Hey everyone! I didn't join this because of conflicts in July, but I've been reading through, and Ruby, I love it. This is such an amazing idea, and you're making it in such an engaging way. Thank you for making a thread like this on the CB. I am bitterly wishing I joined this now. You are a lovely person, and your ideas are breathtaking.

As for the math problem, I know how to solve parts one and two, but trig? I'll see you in two years!

;)

Thanks, Booksy! I'm thinking of doing something sort of like this but different again next year, and maybe playing some kind of summer game here every year until either my schedule or the Admins run me off. I'm really busy in the summer time, but it's always fun to come back here and try something new and cool and different with you guys. I'm always trying to think of, "What can I do that the CBers haven't seen before?" and it's one of the things that keeps me going throughout the year. I hope you can join a game next summer. Your intellect and charm would definitely improve the experience.

I'm confused as to why they can't see anything on the sheet, but I'll ask the ladies at the bakery if they have a pen or pencil. If so, I'll try to copy the problem down on the other side of the paper.

Well, of course it's evil, there's sin in it. *rimshot*

You ask them for a pencil, and Rebecca fishes a golf pencil out of her pocket. You try to write on the paper, but for some reason, it's like the pencil is slipping off of the paper. You can't seem to make a mark on it.

Can I break down a tree with my bare hands and make a new piece of paper? ...Kidding.

I'll ask them if they have any spare pieces of paper lying about, and if not, I'll ask Hester and the other people the same thing.

For all the fright on this one, HAB, you in particular should know how to do it. You tossed a puzzle at me with a very, very similar concept a few months ago. So the fate of the universe.... is in your hands. Or something.

You ask for a spare piece of paper and Rebecca rips off an order form from a notepad and gives it to you. You copy over the equations, and then hand it back to her.

She looks at it again. "I don't see anything, although I did see you writing something..."

The other woman says, "Maybe you can read it aloud?"

You do your best to read it, but both women seem to grow even more confused. "Your lips are moving, but... we can't hear anything."

"Oh come on!" you say in frustration.

"Who did you get this paper from?" the red-haired woman asks.

"I don't know," you say. "We woke up and it was in our pockets. Same as everyone else."

Her brow furrows. "What do you mean everyone else?"

You wave your hand outside in exasperation. "The people out there!"

Both women look out the window. "You mean Delia and Connor?" asks Rebecca.

"No, all the kids out there! Can't you see them?" The two women look at you and shake their heads.

"Are you feeling all right, dear?" one of them asks.

The other women, Rebecca, pauses suddenly with a thoughtful expression on her face. "Oh- perhaps the math problems you have are from the scientist. They put up a sign at the end of town recently, and it's utterly blank. I hadn't considered there was anything on there, but... perhaps you two should have a look at it."
