ART POSTING

(Subject not going through....Third time's the charm...??)

Art stuff thread starting...NOW!  If you draw stuff, you can post it here! I draw in a sort of anime/manga/toon style, but if you don't, don't let that stop you from posting your stuff!  I would love to see other people's art so post away!  They can be OCs, fan art, or just random stuff.  You can use any media, including digital, like I do!  Just to let you chatterboxers know, I started this thread so we can share our tricks of the trade with each other.  Feel free to: ask questions about how to draw certain things, post techniques, share art, and mostly HAVE FUN!  If you draw your OCs, feel free to share information about them such as their names and that sort of thing.  Same goes for fan art since not all of us know where these characters are from.  You don't have to be polished with your art.  I myself am just a beginner at anime/manga/toon.  I'm not good at hands so if any of my hands looks particularly cruddy, you know why.  I also struggle sometimes with feet so same goes for that.  If any of you know how to draw a particularly good hand or foot, feel free to share your trick for it.

Going to post a picture of my OC, Tuxedo, if this post goes through okay.

Here's one of my OC's named Hollyfrost that I drew a picture of on Sunday. It's coupled with a story that I could share if you liked.

Okay! :) Here it is:

Red Hearts

(1517 CE, the Aztec Civilization, Ancient Mesoamerica Two icy-blue eyes glimmered in the moonlight, softly glowing in the velvety darkness of night. A lone shape creeping along the forest floor paused for a second to shake her thickly furred head, scattering droplets of water in the foliage. Then she moved on, a slim figure sliding across the forest floor. Her steps were light with caution as she picked her way across the jungle, the humming of insects resonating her ears. A sharp and sudden sound behind her caused her pelt to bush out in fear. Whipping around, she had just a second to see the looming shape of a Twoleg standing there, his tall and powerful form blocking out the moon’s rays.

Hollyfrost’s eyes widened, her pupils thinning to a slit, then she spun around and raced off through the trees, her black-and-gold pelt vanishing in a second. Behind her, she heard a harsh shout as the Twoleg called several more to his aid, and she pushed herself to go even faster, her paws relentlessly pounding the earth.

But even though she felt like she had wings on her paws, her muscles began to ache after being worked so hard, and she felt herself getting dizzy with fatigue. Though she certainly didn’t want to, regardless, she felt her gait slowing, each paw fall becoming heavier. Giving one last desperate burst of speed, she was abruptly cut off as a Twoleg appeared from seemingly nowhere in front of her, his large paws grasping. Hollyfrost swerved sharply, but her clumsy and tired paws caught on a branch, and she sprawled across the ground, her chin colliding painfully with the dark earth.

Not a moment had passed before she felt Twoleg hands clenching at her sides, roughly scooping her up. Hollyfrost twisted and thrashed, raking her claws against anything she could, but it was all in vain, and within seconds she was shoved into a small, dark space and blackness swallowed her up.

She awoke, back in the inky darkness. She peered around her surroundings, her pale blue eyes casting light into the place she was in, though she couldn’t hear anything but the thumping of Twoleg’s feet. She scrabbled around the tightly-woven trap, trying to find a way out, and almost didn’t notice when the Twolegs began to murmur to each other.

“Chief,” the first said, his voice rough as a claw-scratch. “We have what you wanted. A cat, whom we captured in the forest.”

“Good,” the chief replied. His voice was weathered with age of an elder, yet carried the unmistakable wisdom of a leader.

The Twoleg who had captured her paused, hesitant. “…Chief,” he finally said. Hollyfrost pricked up her ears as he continued, swiveling them towards the Twolegs to hear more clearly. “Why have you chosen to take a feline? Would not our own brave men have been sufficient?”

The chief sighed, suddenly sounding wearier past his years. “I do not expect you to bear my troubles, young one. Men with skin of snow come from far across the waters, carrying strange sights and strange weapons. They take our gold, but end our people’s lives along with it. Because of them, our customs cannot be upheld. I cannot risk more lives when the strange men take so many. But… felines we have to spare. They roam through our jungles, dappled pelts of brown and gold. Besides, young one…” Suddenly a flap lifted and a heavily lined Twoleg face was peered at Hollyfrost. She hissed and backed into the corner of the trap, her black and golden pelt bristling. “This one is special. It has the fur of the night and the sun. It has been chosen by Huitzilopochtli. It shall be so.” There was a pause, then Hollyfrost was suddenly jolted up again, the trap she was in being carried away. She knew she was moving upwards as a feeling of elevation hung in her stomach, but she also felt raw with fear, her fur instinctively spiking outwards. Finally they stopped, and Hollyfrost tensed her muscles, preparing to dart out once the trap was opened. But before she make her escape, the same man grabbed her by her ribs, knocking the breath from her body. She hung limply as he pulled her out, the light of the stars illuminating her pelt and turning it a fiery silver.

“This is the one,” he murmured in a hollow voice, and just then Hollyfrost saw the hundreds of other Twolegs gathered around the dizzyingly high pyramid she was on top of. “This is the one.” The Twoleg carried her to an altar and laid her down on it, firmly pressing her middle into the stone. Quivering with terror, Hollyfrost watched as another Twoleg slowly walked up the steps towards her, a sharp, silver claw glinting in his hands. Hollyfrost wanted to yowl her petrifying fear to the skies, but she felt frozen, bound to the stone as if by root. Struggling in the Twoleg’s grip, she watched as the other lifted the claw above her chest and brought it down.

Just a second before it struck, fire flashed in her eyes, and she saw the outline of a golden Twoleg man there, ordained in headdresses and feathers and carrying an adder in his hands. Is this who I die for? The Twoleg spirit called Huitzilopochtli? Hollyfrost thought frantically. StarClan, no! Don’t let it end this way!!  She opened her jaws to hiss at the sun-Twoleg, but before the sound escaped her throat, his outline faded and she saw a tawny she-cat standing there, starlight glittering in her fur.

“Dawnwhisker…?” Hollyfrost asked, her voice nothing more than a ragged whisper. Dawnwhisker padded over to her, her sweet scent filling Hollyfrost’s nose.

“Soon this will be over, Hollyfrost,” Dawnwhisker mewed softly, her muzzle touching Hollyfrost’s ear. “Not just for Huitzilopochtli is your sacrifice, but for all the skies above. Soon you will be with me in StarClan, standing alongside Wolfpaw and I, guarding the lands below.” Hollyfrost paused, the time lengthening, then finally nodded, her whole body warming.

“Soon,” Dawnwhisker repeated, stepping back to stand beside a small black-and-grey tom, whose yellow eyes sparkled in welcoming. Hollyfrost relaxed her whole body, the appearance of her beloved sister and apprentice draining to fear from her mind. Soon, she thought. Soon. Soon. Soon—

She saw the glint as the claw plunged down, then red pain seared through her body, lighting her whole pelt in agonizing flame before swiftly fading to an empty black.

One more red heart, given up to the gods,

One more day, the morning sun will rise.

One more star in the evening sky.

I am not entirely sure what happened in the story since I haven't read WC, but it was very well written! Kinda unfortunate that Hollyfrost was sacrificed though. :(

Nice picture, Clouded Leopard! She looks so furry... furry... furry... I apologize, I get like that with cats! XD I love the way you drew those legs! I'm still working on animal anatomy, since it is a bit hard if you mostly draw humans and a few derpy FNAF animatronics. :D

This is so good, Scylla! I love the shading so much, and the way it's still sort of sketchy. Not sketchy like creepy... okay, I don't know the word for what I'm trying to say...

Oh my gosh, how did I miss this?! This owl is fantastic! I love the detail you put into the face, and the shading on the chest and wings... it's so good!

Man, I should probably re-read Guardians of Ga'hoole. I read it a long time ago and forgot all about it, so I don't even remember who Nyra is...

OMK LOVE YOUR DRAWINGS ALL SO MUCH I COULD CRY....naw, I wouldn't cry, but you should all give yourselves a big pat on the back! That takes skill right there, al of you! Scylla, love the owl. CL, your cat drawings are AMAZING! Bluebird, your drawings take my breath away. Hotairballoon, your hawk is amiazing! I wish I could draw beaks like that! And a little tip on talons, draw them as half circuls. So, draw the first one but don't quite finish it, and then the second one to connect to the lines and fill in the gab, making them look closer together. It's hard to explain without a demonstration, it's just a little tequinqe i taught myself, because well...I haven't been in really any drawing classes at all. There were ones in elementary school, but you know those are pretty usless when it comes to stuff like this. I took a class this year, and most of the stuff I had alreday taught myself. It took a lot of time, but by practicing a lot I got there. ;) Be appretative if you have art classes people! Anyway, maybe later this week I'll post a little step by step to show you what I mean. (or most likley after finals)

Cockleburr, your drawings have really improved! I love the fairy! Your people drawings are sooo good. I just started drawing people, but I think I'm maybe sorrta getting there...I'll post a drawing I did of SJ from Spirit Animals RP later sometime maybe after finals.

Dandellon, I LOVE that parrot! Beautiful colors, and so realistic! Keep on drawing!

Abigail, that's awsome! I love the different faces surrounding the girl. You should do more song lyric drawings. I'm working on a drawing for my art final with quotes from Fox and the Hound. Ya, the little kid disney movie that came out before ya'll were boren. I know, from like, late 1900s, so most of you probably watched it when you were little then forgat about it. Well, I have nothing to say, cause I did to for a little while. I was recently browsing Netflix when I came across a bunch of disney movies. Fox in the Hound, Brother Bear, Mulan, Pocahantus, the old time favorets. I watched fox in the hound first, and I mean the picturing is bad, the sound systum sucks, and there are really strange parts in it, but all in all, it is my second favorit disney movie of all time. It made me cry 3 times. 3 times. So, watch it people! Its a really good movie, awsom plot, I was totally sobbing at the end. I mean, the only disney movies that have ever made me cry were Toy story 3, Lion king, and Fox and the Hound. Classics. Much watch people!

Anyway, what I'm trying to say here is a sugested promt is like quotes from moives and songs and poams. You can get really deap and into it. I'll poast the Fox and the hound one when I've finished!

Oh, and side note, my top three favorite Disney movies are Lion King, Fox and the Hound, then Brother Bear. Brother bear is extreamly well writen and acted out, amazing plot, beautiful ending. And of course you've all seen the Lion king, right? Also see the musical, all time favorite. Especially the giant elephants that walk through the rows of seats. ;)

Wow I got distracted there. That was a long paragraph, no essay! Well, I better conclude it then! ;) You all have awsome drawings, can't wait to see more! And keep in mind the plot ideas for when you're bored and have nothing else to do (speaking of which I should probably go back to studdying). ;D
