ART POSTING

(Subject not going through....Third time's the charm...??)

Art stuff thread starting...NOW!  If you draw stuff, you can post it here! I draw in a sort of anime/manga/toon style, but if you don't, don't let that stop you from posting your stuff!  I would love to see other people's art so post away!  They can be OCs, fan art, or just random stuff.  You can use any media, including digital, like I do!  Just to let you chatterboxers know, I started this thread so we can share our tricks of the trade with each other.  Feel free to: ask questions about how to draw certain things, post techniques, share art, and mostly HAVE FUN!  If you draw your OCs, feel free to share information about them such as their names and that sort of thing.  Same goes for fan art since not all of us know where these characters are from.  You don't have to be polished with your art.  I myself am just a beginner at anime/manga/toon.  I'm not good at hands so if any of my hands looks particularly cruddy, you know why.  I also struggle sometimes with feet so same goes for that.  If any of you know how to draw a particularly good hand or foot, feel free to share your trick for it.

Going to post a picture of my OC, Tuxedo, if this post goes through okay.

I think it looks really good, and I love the poem. Sadly I don't have any tips on hand lettering, as it's not something I really do. But I couldn't not compliment you, when this looks so great.

Thanks! Sadly, I didn't have room for the last bit of the poem so I had to leave it off. Oh, and sorry the pic's sideways.

That's super pretty Leafy! I love it. I don't have any hand lettering tips as I don't know much about hand lettering yet, but I'm hoping to get more into it soon. The poem is cool, too.

Ooooh, this is so pretty! I also love this quote so much. For tips, maybe try bouncing your letters a little. I started doing this after I saw September's tutorial, it's kind of hard to describe but start one letter on your starting line, then start the next one a little higher and maybe the next one lower... that probably makes no sense at all, I'm sorry! And having thick downstrokes, but that's kind of a style choice. It takes a while to get comfortable, but I guess just try to write freely and you'll get loopier and more swirly letters (this was easier for me though, since that's kind of just my natural handwriting... so I don't know...?)

Also, do you write in pencil first and then go over it? I've found that doing a quick penciling of where my letters will go or a line to go off of can sometimes help.

Aww, thanks MJ! I'm usually pretty self-consious about my art-- that's why I post under a pseudonym. I'm always so happy to get positive feedback. :)

So for Christmas this year, I'm making art as a present for all of my friends and close family... I have to make 16 pieces in 25 days! Help me! (Fortunately I'm on a good track, I've got 5 done, 7 if you count these frames for my grandparents.) I bought these frames for 25 cents each and then painted them, so that was a super bargain gift!

That's awesome, Bluebird! They look like something you could buy at Hobby Lobby or somewhere. I'm also doing art for part of my Christmas gifts. I'll have to post some of the paintings I've done!

Wow, pretty!

One of my friends does something similar--she writes stories for all her close family (and she has six other people in her family)--she's only done a few and she's like, frantically...um, being frantic. Christmas is in 18 days!

Bluebird!!!! That is absolutely amazing!!! You're sooo talented. Have you ever had any art lessons? Because if you do, you must have a great teacher.

I also have a question. Do you have any ideas (this is for everyone btw) for art Christmas gifts? I thought about drawing my Family, but I can’t (due too some circumstances;) So.. y’all have any ideas?

Draw stuff your family members like? A dog, for example. A fictional character. A quote done up in fancy calligraphy. Put a lot of time and thought into each; those tend to pay off.

I liked Viola's idea. Another thought is to take a canvas and paint a background, then let it dry and paint a quote or bible verse or something over it. I'm doing these this year and I'll post some pictures soon. They also work nicely on a piece of wood.
