ART POSTING
(Subject not going through....Third time's the charm...??)
Art stuff thread starting...NOW! If you draw stuff, you can post it here! I draw in a sort of anime/manga/toon style, but if you don't, don't let that stop you from posting your stuff! I would love to see other people's art so post away! They can be OCs, fan art, or just random stuff. You can use any media, including digital, like I do! Just to let you chatterboxers know, I started this thread so we can share our tricks of the trade with each other. Feel free to: ask questions about how to draw certain things, post techniques, share art, and mostly HAVE FUN! If you draw your OCs, feel free to share information about them such as their names and that sort of thing. Same goes for fan art since not all of us know where these characters are from. You don't have to be polished with your art. I myself am just a beginner at anime/manga/toon. I'm not good at hands so if any of my hands looks particularly cruddy, you know why. I also struggle sometimes with feet so same goes for that. If any of you know how to draw a particularly good hand or foot, feel free to share your trick for it.
Going to post a picture of my OC, Tuxedo, if this post goes through okay.

Nice, LilyPad! I have a feeling our art styles are kinda similar! The general head shape, eye style, and body composition seem kinda similar to mine. Not a bad thing, though. I like that!

Those are cool, Lilypad! I really like the second one and the sunset in the first one is gorgeous.
Also, I agree with Lucy, your styles are very similar!

Okay, I don't know how I got into the mess, because goodness gracious, I'm not an artist, but I figured y'all can help. Okay, so I was drawing these "smurdges" in Geometry, a term I made up for unproportional blurred smudges, which means that I can literally draw them however I like and whatever looks good instead of paying attention to proportions. Well, I randomly drew one of my friends, and showed it to some others, and they were like, "hey, that looks just like her!" I was like, "IT DOES???" So now some other friends want me to draw them instead of asking the REAL artist of our class, but I can't replicate what I accidentally did in somehow capturing my friend's "essence" into a small smurdge. Any tips? How do I make a drawing resemble a person in simple ways?

Well, I don't know, but I feel like it'll have to be like the person's proportions. And make it flow the way they move. I know, not clear at all. Can you post a picture? I want to learn from it.

Aaaaaahhh! I just posted a response and I think I made a mistake writing my name! Whatever. It was me.

Hmmm...that's tough. I'm not very good at making things look like people irl either, so my only tips would be to try. Try a few times if you need to. And maybe try to explain to your friends that you accidentally made the first smurdge look like your friend, and that you can try to do them, but it may not turn out how they expect. I think that's what I'd do. I'm not actually sure if I know what I'm talking about here, but maybe even try capturing their personalities more than the realistic parts. What do they usually wear? What do they like? Are they happy? Include those things.
This is kind of unrelated, but if you're comfortable sharing, I'd love to see a smurdge. I'm very curious what they look like!

Ok, so my tip is to draw what you see, not what you think you see. Look at your subject's features. Draw exactly what you see. I'm not sure I really understand what smurdges look like, but try to focus on your friend's features and draw them. Also, don't force your art! Let it flow out of you. Sometimes overthinking doesn't help. Sometimes just letting yourself do what you want has incredible results. There are no mistakes, and there are infinite possibilities. Just because it doesn't turn out how you planned doesn't make it bad.

Thanks so much for the advice y'all! This is an example of a smurdge. Big head, unreasonable amount of hair, small shoulders, short arms, indistinct features, big eyes... yeah, basically my new art style :)

This glasses-adorned smurdge is the one that turned out to look like the person I was drawing.

I love them! I actually think they're really cool, and it kind of reminds me of my own style.

Ok, I think it's all in the hair, actually! The hair is very graceful and gives a lot of personality.

Rose bud!! Your smudges are adorable!! Way to go!
Heres a few characters for a comic strip I’m making for my school. It’s my normal cartoon way to draw. I actually love drawing cartoons way better than any other kind of drawing. Anyone agree?

Wow, I like this style! And the outfit that the boy on the right is wearing.

Your guys' drawings are cool as heck!
I haven't posted some art on here in a while, so here you guys go.
This is Clarity, my D&D character! She's a tiefling bard, and plays mandolin and alphorn. Her horns have been broken off if you guys are wondering. For some reason, my characters always end up leaning to one side.

Whoaa, that's so cool, Danie! Your art style is amazing— I love how you can convey so much of the character's personality through your drawing. The clothes are also really detailed!
