ART POSTING

(Subject not going through....Third time's the charm...??)

Art stuff thread starting...NOW!  If you draw stuff, you can post it here! I draw in a sort of anime/manga/toon style, but if you don't, don't let that stop you from posting your stuff!  I would love to see other people's art so post away!  They can be OCs, fan art, or just random stuff.  You can use any media, including digital, like I do!  Just to let you chatterboxers know, I started this thread so we can share our tricks of the trade with each other.  Feel free to: ask questions about how to draw certain things, post techniques, share art, and mostly HAVE FUN!  If you draw your OCs, feel free to share information about them such as their names and that sort of thing.  Same goes for fan art since not all of us know where these characters are from.  You don't have to be polished with your art.  I myself am just a beginner at anime/manga/toon.  I'm not good at hands so if any of my hands looks particularly cruddy, you know why.  I also struggle sometimes with feet so same goes for that.  If any of you know how to draw a particularly good hand or foot, feel free to share your trick for it.

Going to post a picture of my OC, Tuxedo, if this post goes through okay.

I spotted the sign of the Deathly Hallows.

Great work, she's beautiful and perfectly drawn--enough that I could believe that she might exist outside the page.

Does anyone have some tips on drawing hands?

Hee hee, you caught me! :D Thank you! For drawing hands... well, I kinda cheated with her, because she's such a small drawing. I just did the general shape of the hand and fingers. Normally, however, I go into more detail.

When drawing hands up close, something that helps me is first drawing a pentagon-ish thing about the size of the palm, then drawing each of the four fingers separately off from the pentagon, going in the direction I want. You have to understand how the joints of the hand work. The finger joints can bend back and forth in one direction only. Most people can't bend the top joint by itself- it usually does what the second joint does. The knuckles have a bit more mobility because they can flex backward a tiny bit, as well as folding forward. Thumbs are just weird- try drawing a sort of 'chicken leg' thing. Thumbs have a ball socket joint for a knuckle, so they can move all the way around. The top joint moves in one direction, like a finger. Wrists also have a ball socket joint.

Here's a diagram I made a while ago (the picture quality isn't very good, so I hope you can see it):

@Cockleburr

You aren't, by any chance, left-handed, are you? Because I noticed that you use your sketchbook the same way I use mine--with the spiral binding on the right. I do that because it gets in the way of my hand when I'm trying to draw.

No, I'm actually not! I just use both sides of the page in my sketchbook.

I was really bored in class, and don't usually draw, but I was super bored. I thought I might share this beuaty with the world.

It's fun drawing super tiny stuff. Look at the face next to the quarter. It's very fuzzy, sorry about that. I had to zoom in on it, which makes it fuzzier. I enhanced it digitally the best I could to amke it clearer. Done in pencil.

This is awesome, #InfectedHairband! I really love the background. If I may ask, did you use watercolor to do this?

Position practice with Ben!! This isn't quite done but I thought I'd post it anyway.

The text reads: "You give me the cold shoulder / when I try to say hello / I know that I deserve it / but it still hurts even so."

I was experimenting with sketching hands.

By the way, Bluebird, I have a question! How long does it usually take you to do each piece of art?

3D sketch done in pencil. It's a little messy, but it's okay.

P.S. Bluebird, I love your art!
