You see a

You see a thread on the Chatterbox, a website you usually come to. Clicking on it, you read these words:

There is a noise behind you, and you turn away from your computer just in time to see a giant hamster wearing a top hat appear!  He hands you a photograph of something and disappears in a puff of pink smoke.
Odd, the photograph is of...nothing, just solid white. Puzzled, you turn back to your computer only to notice that words have been added to the post! Your eyes scan over them quickly, wondering how that was possible.
Congratulations! You are one of the lucky few admitted to the grand Chatterbox Camp! Are you ready for the camp adventure of your lifetime? Well, if not, who cares? You're getting it anyway! Perpare for a fun sleepaway camp with absolutely NO alien invasions, explosions, and murder! First come first serve. Only 12 campers are allowed, not counting AEs.

"WHAT CAN HAPPEN?" Cayke shrieked, grabbing Sydney by the bathing suit strap. Sydney wriggled out of Cayke's death grip and started repeating the disturbing information she had just enclosed.

Sydney had pulled Cayke behind a tree as the two groups for water sports passed on the way to switching rotations. The reason she had chosen her was that she was the one who was carrying Danie's ring, and Sydeny thought that Danie should know too.

Speaking of, this very girl was, at the moment, kicking the wall of the diamond and stubbing her toe in the process. "It's okay, Danie," she tried to calm herself down. "You don't know that there are any living things. You don't know they'll summon you. It'll be OK,"

It didn't help her efforts to sooth herself that Cayke was freaking out. "Oh. My. Cupcake. What are we going to do? This is terrible! We need to get her out, NOW!"

"I know, I know!" Sydeny said. "But I don't know how right now, and we need to get back to our groups, pronto, before anyone comes looking. How about we and whoever else we can get tries to meet behind Cabin G-3 at eleven tonight?"

Cayke nodded, looking scared. "We'd better go, huh?"

Sydney agreed.

"Wait," Cayke said. "Better take this." She handed Sydney the ring. "I'm swimming and I don't want to lose it." The two girls parted.

Sydney was able to slip into the back of her group just as the counselor had finished giving insturctions. Nobody inquired, but Jarvis slipped her a questioning gaze.

"Later," Sydney mouthed, jerking her head at the instructor.

~MEANWHILE~

Joan was really relieved to have canoeing over with. I mean, really, really, really, relieved. Super-relieved with pickles on top.

But mostly, she just wanted to swim. It was very freeing and relaxing. Quiet, too.

Unless, of course, Dev was around. And even less so if Dev was around Feather, who may or may not have thrown a paddle at him.

She denied it profusely, and most people were so amused by the whole incident that nobody said otherwise, much to Dev's unhappiness. Adding to this was the fact that he couldn't swim, so he sulked on the shore, growling at everyone, and thinking of ways to kill Puck (and Feather if he had time).

So swimming wasn't exactly the serene escape Joan had been looking for, especially when Cayke splashed over a few minutes late, looking terrified.

"What's wrong?" Somebody asked.

"Everything," Cayke wailed.

"Talk about a drama queen," Silvery rolled her eyes, but she obviously wanted to know as much as anybody.

Cayke hurriedly recounted what Sydeny had told her.

"Oh, dictionaries!" Feather gaped. "What are we going to do?"

Cayke explained Sydney's proposition for discussion. Everyone swiftly agreed to the meeting (except for Dev, of course, who was still hissing angrily back on shore).

Yep, eveything was totally peaceful around here! Thought Joan. No problems! No angry, insane, people! No magical rings! No possible deaths! Nobdody  terrified! Yep, It's all great!

2 chapters in 1 day? Who am I and what have you done with Abi?

~~~~~~
Puck plopped down in a canoe, with Sydney cautiously sitting behind her. The prankster turned around and grinned mischieviously. Sydney gulped. When Puck did that, you could be sure: Something crazy was about to happen. Which wasn't always a bad thing, but Sydney thought that insanity would mix pretty badly with rescuing people from rings.
"So," Puck said.
"So," Sydeny retorted.
"I was thinking," the former continued, "about initiating my first attack tonight."
"Attack?" Sydney said cautiously.
"Against Dev, duh!" Puck rolled her eyes. She was having trouble keeping from laughing—Feather's paddle scheme hadn't escaped her notice, far from it, and neither did Dev: Pouting underneath a tree, wet and—against Puck's will she noticed—cutely. Puck shook that last thought from her mind as her heart thumped oddly. What was wrong with her?
"Oh." That explained a lot, except for the point of telling Sydney this. She voiced her thoughts and Puck rolled her eyes again, as if it was obvious. Which it really wasn't, but it was best not to disagree with Puck unless you actually liked poison ivy down your shirt.
"I'm trying to get as many people as possible to help me," Puck explained, with the air of talking to someone very stupid. "So that Dev will be overwhelmed. Will you join?"
"Uh, no," Sydney said. "I've got other plans."
"Snap," Puck said. "I'll keep looking then,"
~One water sports rotation later~
"That was fun," Joan said happily to Puck, Jarvis, and Air as the campers walked back towards the cabins.
"Defenitely," Air said, pushing a wet strand of hair out of her eyes. Jarvis agreed, but Puck only mumbled halfheartedly.
"What's wrong?" Joan asked teasingly, bopping Puck on the nose. "Is it because of De-e-ev?"
"Yes, but not in THAT way," Puck pouted. Some weird part of her brain whispered, You're sure about that? Puck ignored it and explained her predicament— Nobody would help her with her attack scheme.
Jarvis rolled her eyes. "Of course nobody will help," she said. "There's the meeting tonight."
"Meeting?" Puck asked. "What meeting?"
Jarvis explained. "You see," she said. "Why no one will be there for your thing," Jarvis was glad, too, for she was hoping that Dev would win the prank war.
"Oh," Puck said dejectedly, and sulked off. "I guess it'll have to be tomorrow then,"
Dev watched her from afar, meanwhile, curious to what was causing Puck's disappointment. And got a glimmer of a plan...
They had another period of free time after that.
"Geez," Shifting said. "They must really not be bothered to plan activiteies."
"I LIKE IT!" Volcano cried. "I CAN PRACTICE BURNING STUFF!" She shot the already broken ping-pong table with a fireball.
"Get the hose!" Shifting sighed, used to this sort of behavior. Despite her disdain of the free time, she happily (or as happily as Shifting ever was) started up a game of War.
Dev slid down against a tree and thought. He could hear shuffling on the other aside, and he figured someone else must've had the same idea. He peeked around, intending to scare them off.
It was Puck, writing in a little blue notebook. "Ah!" She shrieked when she saw him and slammed the cover of her book shut. Was she also... blushing? Dev forgot for a moment to kill her, her eyes wide and more nervous he had ever seen, staring into his, and in the second he paused awkwardly, she turned red as the fire that was spreading on the ping-pong table and scampered away.
It only later occured to Dev that Puck never wrote anything if her life depended on it.
She also never, ever, blushed.
