CALLING ALL ACTORS

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

CALLING ALL ACTORS

CALLING ALL ACTORS AND ACTRESSES!

Ok, so I noticed that there are a lot of actresses/actors that read Cricket magazine and so I wanted to start a thread where we can ask advice, give advice, make cheesey references to musicals, and chat about our roles! If you're feeling like bragging about your roles . . .

I've only been in three plays, including the one that I am doing in November.  You probably haven't heard of the first two, those are just the one my school district was doing.

1. Jolly Rodger and the Pirate Queen

I was Miki.

2. Omlette, Chef of Denmark

This one was really weird.  I was Paddock.

3. (This is the one I am doing right now) Alice in Wonderland

I am The Queen Of Hearts. (Yes really. Two-thirds of my lines are 'Off with Blahblahblah's head!!')

I was the Queen of Hearts in a strange, unprofessional rendition of Alice and Wonderland. It actually resembled both Alice in Wonderland, and Through the Looking Glass, and there was a train...

But you see, the problem was that the Queen of Hearts was very very helpful  to Alice and had a solo about how anything is possible if you follow your dreams! And the only person that I said, "Off with his head!" to was the Jabberwock. That's why I said "Off with his head." Argh!

Are you doing the musical version or the normal not musical one?

I've been The Squirrel in The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. I've played Gabrielle in The Tale of Three Trees, and a page in a version of Romeo and Juliet. I've also played Inertia in The Secret of the Golden Medallon, a play which my director wrote. I'm hoping to be able to get a part in Dr. Dolittle!

I love acting! It's one of my favorite ways to express myself. Here's a list of my "appearances," as the professionals say:

Green Eggs and Ham (the train conductor that says, "Would you, could you, on a train?")

The Magic Flute (ensemble)

Seussical the Musical (Who)

A Midsummer Night's Dream (Helena)

Romeo and Juliet (Juliet)

I'm also auditioning for the fall play at my school, Idiot's Delight. I'm hoping to get a lead role, but I'd be just as happy behind the scenes doing makeup and costumes instead.

I was Peter Pan in our school play last year, and it was really fun! This year we're doing Aladdin, but I don't know what I'll be this year.

I've been in 3 plays:

15 min. Hamlet, (Laertes)

The Tempest, (Nymph)

and Much Ado About Nothing. (Verges)

As you can see, they are all Shakespeare plays. I am also trying out for another Shakespear play this year, but I don't know which one yet.

Present! I love musicals, acting, and singing. I can recite pretty mugh the entire Guys and Dolls Junior. (My theatre class only does junior plays.Frown) Just thiinking about a musical can always make me feel better. This year my theater class/ensemble thingy is performing Fiddler on the Roof Jr, and I'm Yente, the matchmaker except they split it into 3 parts so I'm actually Yente 3. Ha-ha. Anyway, I love musicals and once got a backstage tour of The King and I!

Keep Calm and Act on!

I really don't know why I just wrote that, but it's a phrase I live by. I have been acting for as long as I can remember. Some of my favourite roles  includes: Mary Lenx in The Road To Broadway, Baby Snooks in The Baby Snooks and Daddy Show (old time radio show), and Oberon in A Midsummer Night Dream.  Currently I'm taking a acting and improve class which I'm enjoying a lot. Okay, here comes a rant. The Broadway show Newsies closed last August just when we were finally going to go. I was so disappointed. We had been planing to go sense I had done a tap number to King Of New York (a song from Newsies) when I was ten. As you can tell I was disappointed until I found out that after Newsies closed on Broadway it was going on tour!!! When I heard that, my mom said she could take me! It came to the Bushnell in Hartford and we live like five minutes away. I have seen other Broadway touring shows there to, Peter Pan, and Shreek! Last Friday we went to Newsies!:)! The tapping and dancing was TERRIFIC. The cast was on of the most TALENTED I have ever seen. Davey is my favourite character in the show, also love Jack Kelly too! I got a t-shirt that says Seize The Day a very important part of the show. If Newsies on tour ever comes near you you might want too check it out. I know it's going to LA.

I think you can tell that there is a theater geek here.

Oh, yes, yes, yes. I LOOOOOOVE acting!

In second grade, I was in this cheesy little kid play called "A Froggy Day in Lindentown" and I was Tallulah the Turtle. (Don't laugh, it was actually the co-leading part!)

Then in THIRD grade, the same teacher did another one of those silly musicals (I was in a 2/3 combo class so I guess it was mostly for the 2nd graders) but this one was about a therepy for bullies. I had a singing solo!!

My next play was A Midsummer Night's Dream at this theater with the youth acting program, except it's not a class, you have to audition to get in and it's a hardcore 2-hour-rehearsal thing. I was one of the "rude mechanics" and I got to scream, jump off the stage, and fall asleep on the ground.

After that I was in  a play at an outdoor Shakespeare theater camp. The play was kind of weird, it was about two girls from modern times who got transported into Shakespeare's plays. I was Puck! BEST PART EVER!!!!!! I got to hide behind people and trip them, climb the trees, and even give the king bunny ears! (Hehe I was the one who put the spell on the girls in the first place!)

THEN I was in A Midsummer Night's Dream AGAIN, at the same theater camp. I was Queen Hippolyta. Confisusing lovey-dovey lines. Red toga. Enough said.

Finally, the best of all, Willy Wonka! I was an Oompa Loompa, and we looked a lot better then those green faced ones in the movie... just saying... I also got to operate the great gobstopper machine, roll out an... ahem, blueberry, and eat a lollypop!

Wow... SO MANY ACTING PEOPLE!!!!!!!! SmileSmileSmile

It would be cool if we could all be in a play together, but sadly, that is probably impossible...

I don't know if I've done this before, but anyways...

All my plays:

Christmas Play that I Don't Remember- I was 3. So. I literall ydon't rmember the title. I was a little reindeer. My mom says that when my dad came in after work to see the show halfway through it, I stopped singing and said "Hi Daddy!" XD

Another Christmas Play in Which the Title Escapes my Mind- I was like 6 or 7, and it was my first lead role. It was a church play. I played Macy Gomez, and announcer, and Johanna. My little brother played Johanna's little brother, so we got to argue about who got the better side of the road (We were traveling.) Even when I was that little, I still loved acting.

Stone Soup- This was a school play. I was in it when I was 7 or 8. I played the part of a child and I had like 2 lines.

The Wizard of Oz- My first 'professional' play. It was at an arts & science center called Fiddlehead, but it should be called Awesome...head. OK, that was soooo cheesey, I'm so so sorry I just ruined your day!! With my bad pun!! Fiddlehead does a play every year. I was 8. I got the part of Molly munchkin and a random Ozian. No lines.

Doctor Dolittle- Also with Fiddlehead. I was 9. That play, I met my best friend. I was a townsperson, a islandsperson, and a circus performer. I had my first line in a Fiddlehead play!

Annie- Another fiddlehead play. I was 10. I played Molly, who was 6, and I was sooo excited to get a main role with Fiddlehead!!!  I met a really close friend there, and my best friend did it too.

The Music Man- I was 11 and I played Amaryllis. I really played the piano onstage! (BTW I haden't played piano for about... a lot of years, so it was hard to learn.) My best friend was there, and so was my close friend.

Shrek the Musical- I was 12 and I was Young Fiona. It was my first singing solo. Well, I had had lines in a song before, but this was my first one where I get a song to myself. (Wait, does that mean there are four seperate songs in the same song?? I guess so.. Anyways, you know what I mean.) My best friend got her first main role, she was baby bear, and my close friend also got her first main role. She was the Pied Piper.
