Frozen/Brave/Tangled: The

Chatterbox: Pudding's Place

Frozen/Brave/Tangled: The

Frozen/Brave/Tangled: The three new thowback Disney films.

Classic Disney to me was always the Princess, fairy-tale movies I grew up loving, and once I sort of grew out of it, I never--seriously--watched anything recent and animated until Brave came out. Then of course Tangled and Frozen came and I became a massive fan, so this is just sort of a page to talk about them.

Frozen is definitely my favorite, for all the obvious reasons: the dialogue is hilarious, the plot is great, the message is subtle but deep and all the characters have such individuality. Plus the animation is really stellar and the music is so fantastic. I think the whole soundtrack should have won an Oscar. Because, I mean, as good as Let It Go is, what about Fixer Upper and In Summer and Love Is An Open Door? *takes a deep breath*

I can never really put straight whether I like Brave or Tangled better, mostly because they're both good and bad at different things. Brave's plot has only one thread, but the richness of the setting and the characters help to make it interesting. On the other hand, Tangled is much funnier and while the characters are predictable, the twists and turns help add suspense. Brave's animation seems more vivid (and Merida actually looks like a real person) while Tangled isn't much for realistic scaling, though I do like how they gave Rapunzel the slightly buck teeth. At least she's not so perfect-princess looking like Elsa and Anna. They're beautiful, of course, but who else but a model could be that thin at eighteen?

What's your take on all of them? Feel free to fangirl/fanboy (is that a verb?) if you want!

I love them all, but Tangled is definitely my favorite, followed closely by Frozen. The only thing that bothers me about Frozen is how popular it is!
Rapunzel was one of my favorite fairytales when I was little, so of course that's one of the reasons that I love Tangled so much. Also, I LOVE Flynn/Eugene! He's basically an animated version of Gwaine! Plus the movie is pretty hilarious and adorable.
I could go on, but I have to leave for Ballet. I'll finish later!

I have to go with Ivy. Tangled is AMAZING and HILARIOUS!!!!! Eugene is amazing- "You broke my smolder!" Haha! But Max is my favorite :)

Out of those those three, Frozen is definitely my favorite. But I can't really judge that yet because I never watched Brave.

The commercials looked really stupid. But then, the commercials for The Nut Job and Rio looked stupid too. So maybe I just have poor judgement, but it didn't really interest me.

Today is movie night, so maybe I'll try it out.

Also I did see Tangled, but it was a long time ago (not really that long, I just have horrible memory) and I don't really remember anything from it.

Oh, except for The Snuggly Duckling. 3That made me laugh.

I LOVE Frozen, Tangled, and Brave!

I loved Frozen for multiple reasons. I loved the connection at the end between Elsa and Anna. I LOVED Olaf! The music was great, the outfits were beautiful (I've always loved the Norwegian dresses), Elsa's powers were awesome, and the overall plot was great.

Tangled, okay, well, first, I gotta love Rapunzel for the general fact she's a blonde heroine. Second, I've never really been a fan of the common Rapunzel story. It just never suited my liking. But once I saw the Disney version, I thought it was fantastic! I loved how she went out of her comfort zone to be independent. I loved Maximus (a crime fighting horse, who wouldnt?), Eugene was a great character, making a great transition from self-absorbed thief to actually caring about Rapunzel. I liked their relationship and how he didn't fall for her because of looks or anything, but gradually over time cause of her sweet personality and love of life.

But I gotta say, out of all of them, Brave is my favorite. I am literally known in my family as "the Brave fanatic". My last birthday was Brave themed, I have two or three Merida dolls, songs from the movie on my playlist, and whenever it's my turn to pick the movie, you can bet it's going to be Brave. I am probably most like Merida in personality and attitude. I usually try and defy convention and what the world believes I should do or be. I loved her spunky attitude, her determination not to be married, her flying headlong into things without really thinking, and yes, the fact that she's an archer doesn't hurt. I loved the setting, storyline, and characters! And just how it generally proved that you don't need a man to complete you. You can be fine alone, and happily independent.

That description of Brave reminded me of Epic, which I loved.

Everyone was "too tired" to do movie night yesterday, so it's been moved to tonight. I'll give Brave a try.

Ooh, I loves Epic! My mom and I saw the trailer in the movie theater, and we were like, "we have to watch this!"

For some reason you can't rent Brave on On Demand, you can only buy it. FOR SEVENTEEN DOLLARS.

My parents didn't want to spend that money on a movie that may or may not be good (not that I'm doubting you guys' reviews, just that we all have different opinions).

Yay, more broken promises.

Oh well.

Frozen is my favorite! They are all very good Disney movies, though. However, I think Frozen is the favorite among girls all ages, so I think it will be a Disney classic. Other Disney movies can be forgettable. Being a Disney fanatic, I watch Disney movies and love them instantly!

Let's see here...

Brave:

I really liked this movie. Extremely awesome, although I'm not a movie person. I wasn't obssesed, but it would enter my mind once in a while. I liked Merida (is that how you spell her name?) and it would remind me of how I always wanted red ahir and a temper when I was really little, like Merida (although she wasn't out yet when I was younger, and I was just the opposite of hihg- tempered and red-haired). I loved the little brothers.  And it was a good movie... and I think that's all I have to say.

Tangled:

Saw it twice in theaters, which was surprising (once with my mom and dad, once with my grandma and grandpa) and I really liked it. It was a new twist on the original Rapunzel story that I really liked. Although Rapunzel did at times, only times, seem like a regular Disney princess. But she was pretty good, all in all. The songs in it were wonderful, as all Disney songs, are, and I really liked the fact that Eugene wasn't a prince. Princes get tiring after a while.

Frozen:

I'm just gonna say this now: Spoiler Alert! I probably will slip something and not even recognize iit, so if you haven't seen the movie, stop reading now.

This is where the fangirling comes in. I ABSOLUTLY LOVE FROZEN!! Possibly my favorite movie ever! Although that doesn't say much for me...

Anyway, great, great, great movie. I liked EVERYTHING about it. Especially how Hans turned out. I love surprise endings that actually surprise me. I'm just gonna do a list of the characters and some main points I was thinking while I watched the movie (for the first time).

Hans:

Wonderful character. I know some people who said he didn't deserve to sing, "Love Is an Open Door", and frankly, I agree. He didn't deserve to sing that nice, happy, song... But evil people are always fun to watch a second time, when you know that they're gonna turn out evil. Thinking back on it, (although I may be wrong) all of the Disney movies I remember seeing have female villains. This time it was male. I like that. I hate the guy, but that's a good thing. Right?

Kristoff:

Funny, and I like him pretty well. He definitely isn't my favorite character (if you've noticed, I'm putting these from least favorite down to favorite) but still pretty good. Not a prince, which I like. I knew from the second I saw him as a young Kristoff that he would be important. Altogether, though, what I want to say is that he's kind of predictable.

Anna:

Love, love Anna. Again, not my favorite, but still on my Top Three Frozen Characters List. Still, she was one of the fun elements (before Olaf came along, but she was still funny) in the story. Super awesome. She was a lot like Rapunzel, if I remember Tangled correctly, though... But awesome, funny, delightful character. And the optomist of the story.

Olaf:

He makes me smile just thinking about him! Olaf, Olaf, Olaf,he's just so darn innocently FUNNY! I love every single one of his lines, and I'm pretty sure my Frozen fan friends and I have memorized them all, too. I like his solo song, and everything about him. Who doesn't love Olaf?

Elsa:

You've probably all realized who was left. My favorite Disney character of all time, Elsa. She is just SO AWESOME!!!!!! I love her powers, her personality, everything. I love Let It Go (who doesn't) probably too much for my own good. When I wrote, I time myself by how many Let It Go's I've listened to. I could go WAY on about that song, but I'm just going to leave it at that. I discovered who was the voice of Elsa and then found Wicked (which is an awesome musical, by the way) and Idina Menzel has SUCH a great voice! It's phenomenal. Love love, love, love, Elsa. I wish I was her sometimes. Just so awesome.

So Frozen's a great, great, great, movie, and I am so jealous that my younger relatives get to grow up with it. They are so lucky. But technically, I'm still a kid, so I can grow up with it too... Anyway, nobody has to read any of this. If you do, please ignore my bad spelling. I'm not the best at typing, so a random letter will probably pop up there and stuff.

Well, I just vented every single Frozen feeling I've ever had, so I'll be all non-Frozen'd up when I see my friends today. They'll probably be relieved.

@ Katie M, but kind of to everyone as well:

I know! The whole Hans thing was so fun, especially the song (I didn't mind him singing it, actually, because even though he didn't mean it, it was all true, and you can't imagine Kristoff singing it) and everything was SO misleading. It was kind of realistic, though, because people who are evil never show it. It only comes out later. And it also kind of sent out a message to all those guy-crazy girls out there to NOT be desperate for love. You'll only get your heart "broken."

I really liked Elsa's complexity. I read that she was originally going to be the villain, but I'm glad that she was just kind of an antihero. Plus, Anna wouldn't love her so much and be able to save her if she was truly wicked.

No offense, I adore Tangled, and hate Frozen and Brave. The music in Tangled is great, it's funny with great characters, and an awesome plot. I say it was pretty unpredictable. I love the characters. SPOILER ALERT :

I really shouldn't be asking this, but why didn't you like Frozen or Brave?

I really loved Tangled though; everything about Flynn Rider was awesome, espcially how he really changed through the whole hilarious story.

I think Brave has like, no story, and is totally predictable, and the characters have all been done too much; Frozen has no plot, and it just, stinks.

Sticking my foot in.

Tangeled: I thought it was pretty cheesy, but I can't watch Mother Knows Best anymore without picturing Melody and Teresa and dying laughing.

Brave: Brother Bear with ridiculous Scottish accents.

Frozen: I don't get at all the big fuss about it. It seemed pretty mediocre to me. Besides, the whole message about how differences can be overcome with love? I'm not sure that really works. Just because Elsa's sister loves her doesn't mean Else can't accidentally hurt Anna anymore. The ending really annoyed me. But that's just me.
