Welcome, Chatterboxers, to the new Kyngdom board! You'll notice a few things have changed. We hope these changes will make it easier for both longtime and new users to participate in the story.
First, we've asked Dr. Sheepshank from Cypher Labs to comb through all the threads and put together a summary and history of the Kyngdom story so far. You’ll see that in the "Story So Far." He'll continue adding to it as the story grows.
Second, we've reduced the number of active threads. The only active threads will be the ones you see on the main page. These threads (many of which are inspired by your ideas!) will help us keep the story organized.
Third, to keep the story manageable, you will no longer be able to start your own new threads on the main page. A smaller number of threads will be easier for everyone to digest, and it will be more obvious where the action is happening, and what the action is. You can still create role-play (RP) threads on the Kyngdom RP Board.
Don’t worry! Your old threads are not gone. You can still read them in the Kyngdom Archive, but you will no longer be able to comment on them.
We hope you like the changes. If you have any suggestions for new threads, new groups you want to form, or general questions for us, feel free to comment below.
We've had an exciting few months building and growing Kyngdom. We love all the ideas you are bringing to this adventure. Have fun, and happy writing!

Ummm. So. I’d like to join Kyngdom, but... I don’t really know how it works? Like, I get that it’s an RP, but do people have multiple characters? What’s the setting? Can I get a teeny bit of backstory on the actual story? Does my character have to be human, or can it be a different species? And do I post using my CB name or as my character? Thanks for putting up with that!
There's a signup form on the "Who's here?" thread
(located on the Kyngdom homepage) which you can fill out (but it's not required).
The Grasplands ("Beginner Thread" on the RP Board, which is located
at the very bottom of the Kyngdom page) is specially designed as a jumping off
point for new Kyngdomers. There's a few different stories going on there right
now. I don't know if people have more than one character or not, but there's no Chatterbox rule that you can't. And there's no rule that characters have to be human. Have a look at some of the threads on Kyngdom. There's one that says "The story so far," though I'm not sure how recently it was updates. You can post as your character or as your CB name. Hopefully one of the CBers who is active on Kyngdom can give you some better answers. But Kyngdom is for its users/writers/readers to create adventure. It will be whatever you make it!

Hey Dolphin! It's awesome that you're thinking about joining Kyngdom!
The Admin answered some of your questions pretty well (thanks Admin!), but I'll elaborate on some things.
~Kyngdom is lots of RPs made into one big story! The link (somewhere) below will explain this better than I can, but right now I'll stick to some of the questions you're asking.
~You can definitely have multiple characters- as many or as few as you would like!
~Kyngomd is set in... well, Kyngdom! Different RPs and events take place in different spots all around Kyngdom. There's a full map on the second page of the Fourth Map Fragment thread.
~See the link for the story!
~As the Admin said, your character by no means has to be human. In fact, there are some made-up species that exist in Kyngdom, and characters can be all sort of things!
~What name you go under is your choice. Some people choose to use the name of the character they are Roleplaying with when making posts. Some people have Kyngdom names that are different than their CB names (MY name here is Soren, but I'm Luna-Starr on the CB!). You can basically do whatever you want when it comes to this.

So, nobody knows how the portals are controlled, right?
I was thinking that my charrie, Ghost, could have some sort of control over them. So, she has shapeshifting abilities and has a connection with nature, so what if her form influences the portal's strength? Is that okay?

No. The sinkholes come from the opening and closing of the Outerlands portal on Bleak Peak. It would not make sense for your charrie to have anything to do with them.

Hi everyone! A couple of questions - Where is the Resistance now? Do they have a base? Are most of them at Jokull, or is that outdated? And what other organisations are out there? (Sorry, I'm very new to Kyngdom...)

Hello, MoonKitten! Here are some answers to your questions that might help you. The Resistance is pretty much all over Kyngdom right now! Their main base, however, is in Mer, which is in southwestern Kyngdom. Right now, Jokull is occupied Sanukans--who are allies of the Resistance, but they are not the Resistance. There's a good deal of organisations, but here's a list of the more important ones.
The Resistance: An army of humans, humanoids, animals, and all other species you can think of. They are fighting against Catastrophe's Army, and their goal is to replace the current Kyngdom government with a democratic one, in which a council of representatives will rule over Kyngdom. They are led by General Mina pur Courageux, who is also Queen of the Dolor Felis.
Catastrophe's Army: These are the main bad guys. They're led by Catastrophe, a tyrant who wishes to take over Kyngdom. Most of his followers are either brainwashed or are following him for personal power, however, he has a good deal of supporters who believe he will be able to unite and control Kyngdom.
Sanukan Army: The Sanukan Army are Sanukans, who are descended from giants. They don't like Catastrophe purely because he tried taking their land. They are allied with the Resistance. There's more info on them on the Myths and Legends thread. They are led by Rubiana Starr.
The Nocturnal: A secret cult who worhsip Lunee, Power of Howl. They aren't really allied with anyone and they're kind of a mess right now.
Fur and Feathers Association (FaFA): A group of animal spies directly opposed to BIG. They're led by Silverpaw, a snowy leopard. Not many people like them because they are very much against awakening the Powers, whereas most of the other organisations want them awakened to help save Kyngdom and fight for their particular side. They also despise humans, and won't form an alliance with the Resistance because of this--even though FaFA is anti-Catastrophe.
BIG: A group of scientists who are known for destroying animal's terroritories and also testing on them without consent. Their old leader, Cornelia Hornshaw, abandoned them, but they are now led by someone new. Most of them, however, are with either SOCS or Catastrophe now.
SOCS (Society of Concerned Scientists): A group of scientists who are plain evil. They do inhumane experiments on all species, humans included. Many species have been invented by them, such as Homo Avians, Homo Aquarians, and Homo Felis, by giving humans various different kinds of animal and mythical creature DNA. They also used to run a boarding school for girls that secretly turned them into assassins and soldiers. After their leaders died, the boarding school shut down, and they were essentially merged with Catastrophe's Army.
Black Skull: Basically the Kyndgom mafia. Their members are some of the wealthiest and most powerful people in Kyngdom. They're working with Catastrophe right now--not because they support him, but because they want power, wealth, and illegal supplies from him.

I think I might join Kyngdom but I have a few questions. Number one, is there a thread I should use for a short, easy-to-digest recap of the story? I got the first part, but I got lost somewhere during The Power of Claw. Also, on RPing threads, I don't really follow what's happening since I don't know thecharacters well. As a new character without much RPing experience, what is a good thread to start on? Thank you so much!

You should introduce your character first, in the Who's Here thread. Then you can jump in on an RP anywhere you like! 'The dice clattered...' thread just started, and you can find the characters there on the last page of the Who's Here thread. Or you can start your own RP. Hope this helps!

Thank you! That link was very helpful, and it raised a couple more questions for me: what is the difference between RPing threads and the threads in the "The Power of Hoof" chapter button — and why aren't the Power of Hoof threads very active? For my first post on a RP thread, should I create a whole new scene (starting at a different location than all of the others) or find a way to incorporate my character into a scene that has already been started? Sorry to bother you with all of the questions.

The Power of Hoof threads are old. They created the story up to where you read in the summary. Now we're in the Power of Howl (I think; someone correct me if not), and the story now is being created in the RP threads.
For your first post, you can do either! If you want your character to team up with/meet other characters, you should incorporate yours into a scene that has already been created. Or, you can make a post with just yours to give us a better idea of where he/she is, and then move him/her into another scene.
