This is an RP about the Society of Concerned Scientists' boarding school. The idea is, as some of the students are getting ready to graduate, they meet some of SOCS' human experiments and realize the reality of what SOCS does after being manipulated their whole lives. Then they can decide if they want to help the experiments and escape SOCS, or be a part of SOCS anyway. 

You can have as many characters as you like, and they can be a student or an experiment. However, I think it's best there be only up to six characters who are experiments for the time being. We might add more later, but I think it will be more balanced if we begin with a smaller number. And two of my characters are experiments, so that leaves four experiment slots left. Experiments can be human, animal, or some combination of the two. Students must be human. I believe the original SOCS Boarding School was all girls? That's up to you guys if we should keep it that way, if you'd like to change it we can.

I can see how that would be helpful to establish a more clear purpose for the students, because currently I don't really see how they are important to the plot (while the experiments are planning). If we restart, we can more carefully consider the role of the students and the planning of the experiments. However, I can also see all the cons with having to reiterate information already said, and reintroducing characters to each other. So personally, I'm kind of 50/50 on this, but either way, we need an update on what's going to happen next with the experiments and the students.

Yeah of course Periwinkle! I think it is a good idea and a pretty easy way for people to start RPing. (This is one of my first) :)

That list looks great! Sounds like the consensus is to restart and make it a little more organized this time. 

I'd like to still have the experiments plan to escape. But here's an idea. What if there was a class that the students had where they had to train one of the experiments? Possibly in small groups? If we did this it would give the students a little more purpose and maybe some students could be part of the escape. They could still go to other classes, of course. What do y'all think?

@Wildsong that's a great idea! It would give the students a bigger role in the plot than just deciding to help or not since the main story revolves around the experiments.

Good idea! Maybe there's a small group of experiments (our characters) living in one of the school's labs for studnets of BCAftV to use as subjects? So our characters have time to get to know them in a way the school's okay with (making it more believable; it's probably pretty hard to sneak past BIG all the time after all) and then eventually hear their plot for escape before reaching the turning point where they decide whether they want to betray BIG or not? In this version the experiments wouldn't be escaping a huge lab, but the academy itself. There would be much more buildup to the escape and the story would probably be less about the escape but the time leading up to it. I've always seen the story as, at its core, a character study, and I think that it'd stay that way. 

If it is more about the time before the experiments (and students) escape BCAftV, then we should think of what will happen once they've escaped. I think we could end the rp there and use this rp as a gateway to others (we can make new roleplays featuring some of these characters and join current ones), but we could potentially keep it going if we wanted. How do you guys feel about all these ideas?

that's a rlly great idea! if we end the rp after they escape, what would the experiments do next? (or would it be up to them to decide to either just explore or join Resistance, etc.?) anyway, the idea for the experiments meeting the students sound like a good idea!

I think they can each decide what they want to do. The students who help the experiments escape can also decide if they want to escape BIG and stop working for them. Students in the rp can also choose not to help, or to help but continue down a career path with BIG (ooh that'd be interesting). By the end of the rp, we should have been able to develop our characters enough that they can make their own decisions, and their decisions will probably lead to other roleplays later. The point would essentially be to develop these characters, all of whom are young teenagers, and see how they develop so we have good, well-written characters ready to face the world.

How's that sound? 

And thank you! I realized it'd be much more realistic if there was a good way for them to get to know each other (I really didn't plan this very well originally, huh?) XD
