Alright friends, time

Alright friends, time to get this story rolling! Sorry it took me so long, theres a lot going on in life! Now, to begin, I will write in the view of Caelani today.

~Caelani

It was snowing. Caelani hated snow. Snow was the worst. It was cold, and wet, and a doing of Ayearths wretched sideaffected power. Who, stupid Ayearth had ran away with. Underwater. Where Caelani COULDNT go.

He was flying. The wind in his feathers, the breeze in his face. He was ok with the cold....if it just stopped snowing.....

THERE!

His target had been spotted. A white mare, picking at the snow in surch of food, probably. And around her neck......

Caelani smiled.

I'm coming for you sis.

With an angle of his wings, he dove through the air, landing awkwardly on the mare's back. She started in alarm as his claws dug into her skin, and she realed, but Caelani stayed on. "Im a friend, trust me. If I was a foe, you'd be dead." He whispered, his voice having some sort of tranquil affect, which was ironic, and she lowered her front hooves, pawing at the ground, her nerves subsiding.

"Are you the ghoast of the last Power of Wing gaurdain?" She asked, craining her neck to look over the white feathers Caelani had.

He paused, thinking over the answer. "Yes." He finally said, then backed up the long pause with, "since you're a fellow gaurdain, I'm sure its fine to tell you."

"Wow." She gasped, amazed.

Cealani shifted his weight so he was touching the necklace holding the fragile instrament. The idea he had had circled back in his mind. "I've come to warn you. You must know now that BIG isnt our problum, Catastrophe is. And his army will kill you when they find you have the power. So I have come to protect you, to protect you duty, and to take the power into the after life with me." Caelani knew perfectly well that was imposible, but this mortal creature knew nothing of the life after this.

Her eyes widened. And then they darkened almost instanty. "Im not suposed to guve it to anyone." She said, shifting her weight. "Not even a ghoast, who I can feal prickling on my shoulder."

He laughed. "Like you know anything of ghosts."

She glared into the snow for a moment. And then she reeled. In a swift movement, Caelani snapped the necklace, carying one string in his talon, and flew off swiftly into the storm, the wind giving him speed.

He heard the horse neigh frantically after him.

After a short flight he landed in a sheltered clearing. The snow had stopped, for now. Knwoing that no one was around, he shifted back into his normal form, the necklace still gripped in his talon, now small compared to before.

"You found her." It was Eico's gruff voice as he emerged from the ground. They were never that close, he was the one who Caelani lastly wanted to get stuck alone with. But.....familys family. And he had learned how to hide in anger, thanks to Claaws.

"No, this is just some random other drum." Caelani growled. "YES i found her."

The moments that followed were moments that neither one would ever forget. In the mist, the mist that had started gathering as Caelani had landed, a figure stood. The mist was hazy, and the blurry shape almost looked like...like....a dragon.

"Claaws?" Caelani called, his eyes widening.

No responce. Just a steady hiss as the mist started gathering around their heads. Then a whisper, that almost sounded like....."GiVe Us ThE iNsTrAmEnT........."

"Jaaws...." Eico breathed.

But it wasnt just Jaaws. A disfigured owl had apeared in the trees, her eyes narrowed slits. And as Caelani looked closer, he saw the red haze of a certan Pheonix in the sky and the wingbeats of a creature next to her.

Why did he have to have so many stupid sideaffceted powers?!

"Run." Eico whispered.

Almsot imidatly he burrowed into the earth. Caelani took to the sky and gracefully turned back into a crow. The mist parted at the wind blew around him, and he heard a battle cry from a pheonix and a manticore.

Aya and Leptomoris.

Little did Caelani know that while he was flying away in the sky, Ecio was fighting a battle in the ground with a ground sloth who had escaped his prison of rock...or....had help doing it.

He twisted and turned, and while the two were heavy on his tail, they could never reach him.

And then a sparkle of blue reached his eye. And looking down, he saw the ocean. And his keen eyesight caught something else....who he instantly reconized at Ayearth.

He was too relived to be mad, so instead of avoiding him, he dove right towards him. But at the last second, the Power of Fin looked up and saw Caelani.

And what Caelani saw was not his brother. The eyes of this creature were dark, like pitch black ash, and had a soft red glow. "YoU'vE fAlLeN rIgHt InTo OuR tRaPe...."

he caught a glimpse of white and black at the corner of his eye, blue and red eyes staring right at him, before the water surged fowards and everything went black.

A strange black.

A type where he knew he would never escape from.

Red eyes flashed, and laughter filled his skull, before he fell into nothingness.

~~~
Disclaimer, Grondor is affected by Jaaws, she made him come out of his hiding place where he was mourning his friend who he had realized was his friend too late.
So is Ayearth and his sideaffected power, and now, Caelani.
Idk about the others, up to you I guess. But not Whist, because shes evil too and working with Jaaws, for now. Its all about revenge for her.
Also, another disclaimer, Sylvia is already activated. She just hasnt come out of hiding. I think she was activated long before Claaws, because the horses thought she was good, and she was, and vanished into the forest to do her life-making skills. But she made them forget about releasing her, causing them to gaurd a fake drum that everyone thought was her. She hasnt come out yet because shes scared of the others, scared of what theyll think of her for abandoning them. (You like that? Does everyone agree with that?)
also, Ronan, idk how they found out a way to affect the powers, something invloving brazen goo probably, do you wanna come up with that?
Honestly, I want to see where Scylla goes with Sylvia's foal. There have been so many heartbreaking side-affected Power stories (Such as...*Chinese Dragon name here for Ayearth's lover*'s betrayal, which I don't think was even planned by Mei) already, to be honest. I mean, even Grondor betrayed Ecio...
If the Powers can't reproduce in their Power form, what if Sylvia had a baby in her normal horse form? I really want to see where Scylla goes with her story, as said earlier.
My theory on this (without going into specifics);
It was canonically confirmed that the Powers weren't always able to shapeshift into their plain animal form, right? They discovered that they had this power later. So might I ask;
did Sylvia create life before or after the Powers discovered their shapeshifting potential? I have read a version of the story where they learned to during Catastrophe's lifetime (I believe it was so that they had a lower profile and a better chance of getting away from him). So, if animals had already been created by then, then why couldn't the Powers 'normal animal' forms have the ability to reproduce?
I was around during some of the Power's backstory creation, and I'm not saying this because I hate it, but because I feel bad for Scylla. A lot of the beautiful work that she's done is being erased--she really wrote a wonderful, descriptive piece of work, and now it apparently can't happen. People even forget the work she did on Blazing Star as the guardian(Blazing Star, I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, was a chestnut mare with white spots). It just makes me feel upset that people's wonderful stories are being crushed.
However, I'm all for the original Powers--I would never suggest a dramatic backstory change.
Oh, hello! Didn't expect to see you around here. Would you like to join, or are you just dropping by for some meta discussion?
I didn't think of that, with the regular-animal form... That's very possible! *excited*
I don't mean to invalidate anything that Scylla has written. I love the idea of the foal, but I'm trying to figure out how it could happen in canon with a minimum of rule-altering. I do wish she would come talk to us about it, though. It's a bit discouraging to see her not fulfilling her promise.
I don't think anyone's writing is being crushed. Would you mind terribly if I asked where you're seeing that?
Top!
I think we should keep RPing in the meantime until Scylla replies. We don't have to bring Sylvia into the picture until she comes back.
@Claaws, do you want to do the next post? I know I already posted twice in a row and I don't want to control too much. But if you're busy, I can do anther short one just to keep the thread topped.
Let's see. Lycaella's dad had a SOCS file concerning the Powers, and they had a lead on the Power of Hoof. The SOCS kind of collapsed, but there might be some members still with the same goals and things as before. So Blazing Star could be in danger from a splinter organization... And what about the Black Skull? I actually don't entirely remember what that was--a group loyal to Catastrophe?
ahhh I’m so sorry I totally forget about this again! Aggghhh! Welp, no better time to write then while procrastinating on hw.
And for the record, Mei did come up with that story line and I’m pretty sure I was against it. But, come on guys, don’t you just LOVE the idea that Sylvia created herself a child without knowing that that was how Jaaws was created, the evilest of the sideaffected powers? And that that child will have so many interesting mental battles with her true self before she finally picks a side? LIKE COME ON what a twist in events! (Srry don’t mind me I’m like dying on the inside I’m sorta loosing my mind so don’t take any of this to heart)
Okay! Yes, I will write the next part. Jaaws hasn’t done anything with the drum yet, correct?
~Whist
Now was the time. This was it. Her and Jaaws sat around the small drum, while the others sat in the forest, out of sight. Ayearth and (can I give her a nickname? If not ignore this) Xie sat bellow the serface of the nearby ocean in silents, the ripples of their gills sending vibrations against the water. I sat, with a thousand possibilities thrumming through my head as I waited with Jaaws. We would have the power of life. We could make everyone bow down to us. We could make creatures that would follow us and do our bidding, well, it’s not like she already manipulated beings to do that for her.
Right on q, a large mustangs trotted into the clearing, sourounded by mist. His eyes glowed blue, enchanted by Whist’s mist magic.
Yet the owl and dragon still towered over him.
Whist narrowed her eyes at him, and then glanced at the drum. The horse stride up confidently, his hooves crunching on the dew covered grass.
You see, when Whist has played the drum, and when Jaaws has played the drum, nothing happened. It’s then that they realized that it could only be played by a horse, whome Whist had sent her most out to get.
The horse stopped, and railing back, he began to play the drum in an uneven beat. It slowly grew louder, before Whist, clicking her beak, cut it off.
“Why is nothing happening?” Jaaws demanded coolly.
“I- I don’t know.” Whist admitted, her own beak clenching with frustration.
“Well she’s your Power.” Jaaws hissed. “You should know.”
Then suddenly, out of outrage, her eyes narrowed and the horses eyes turned red. He reared up, neighing loudly and twisting in the air, before crashing down onto the instrument. With a large splintering sound, the drum broke.
It broke.
“THATS IMPOSSIBLE!” Came  Jaaws’ roar, louder then the boom of thunder. “THE INSTRAMENTS CANNOT BREAK!”
Her claws reached for Whist’s throat but the mist covered the owl and instead the dragon seized the horse. “What have you done?” The dragon growled, passive aggressive furrie leaking from her in tidal waves.
“That wasn’t Sylvia.” Whist said atlast and the dragons head whipped around, facing the blanket of mist. “I felt no connection. It couldn’t have been Sylvia.”
“Caelani.” Came the growl of the dragon, nearly a whisper. “Come here.”
Through the haze a figure swooped, parting the mist for a second. Red eyes met blue ones before the blanket seal the blue from red.
The horse still grasped in her talons, Jaaws turned to face the majestic Power of Wing. “You said this was the instrument.”
“And what I said is true, this came from the guardian.” Caelani said, a mistic haze in his enchanted voice. “Blazing star. The guardian is blazing star.” He said again, as if answering a hidden question.
Whist forgat Jaaws could do that. It unsettled her that this evil, cunning dragon could talk to her enchanted Powers without Whist knowing.
But, Whist could also control animals without Jaaws knowing, including a certain boy king.
I guess they were both going to end up stabbing each other in the back, in the end. Whilst just hoped that she would get out of it with something gained.
“Find Blazing Star.” She told the horse, but it laid still when Jaaws dropped it.
Jaaws, thinking she killed it, hissed under her breath. But then the horse staggered to its feet, it’s eyes a strange purple color as Jaaws’ spirit infected it while it was still under the control of the mist. Then it reered, blood dribbling from the wounds Jaaws gave it, before Whist sent it galloping away.
The mist cleared, following the horse.
Whist landed behind Jaaws, her feathers ruffled, but their little scermish over as they both looked through the horses eyes.
For now, at least.
(Srry this is terrible I wrote this pretty fast)
Personally, I love the side affected Power drama. But I think we've had enough.
I don't want to see another story changed or another story crushed, like Scylla's, like Mei's, like so many other's. Mei was given permission to make a part of the story, and she did. What's so bad about that? Mei's character wasn't even originally a side affected Power until it was suggested by someone else.
But enough about the Chinese dragon.
Personally, I believe that the Powers forms are adaptable enough--I believe I said this earlier--that they should be able to reproduce in their 'normal animal' form. In fact, I don't believe that Scylla mentioned Sylvia having a horn in that post.
Because the child of a Power isn't something we've ever explored. I want to explore it and to see what happens. I love Side Affected Power drama as much as the next person--in fact, I  absolutely adore it--, but I want to see another plot thread.
I'm so sorry that this post sounded rude. I just wanted to get that out, and this comes with no insult to people's stories or choices.
Also, that was a great post, Claaws; it was extremely descriptive, I felt as if I were there.
