Alright friends, time
Alright friends, time to get this story rolling! Sorry it took me so long, theres a lot going on in life! Now, to begin, I will write in the view of Caelani today.
~Caelani
It was snowing. Caelani hated snow. Snow was the worst. It was cold, and wet, and a doing of Ayearths wretched sideaffected power. Who, stupid Ayearth had ran away with. Underwater. Where Caelani COULDNT go.
He was flying. The wind in his feathers, the breeze in his face. He was ok with the cold....if it just stopped snowing.....
THERE!
His target had been spotted. A white mare, picking at the snow in surch of food, probably. And around her neck......
Caelani smiled.
I'm coming for you sis.
With an angle of his wings, he dove through the air, landing awkwardly on the mare's back. She started in alarm as his claws dug into her skin, and she realed, but Caelani stayed on. "Im a friend, trust me. If I was a foe, you'd be dead." He whispered, his voice having some sort of tranquil affect, which was ironic, and she lowered her front hooves, pawing at the ground, her nerves subsiding.
"Are you the ghoast of the last Power of Wing gaurdain?" She asked, craining her neck to look over the white feathers Caelani had.
He paused, thinking over the answer. "Yes." He finally said, then backed up the long pause with, "since you're a fellow gaurdain, I'm sure its fine to tell you."
"Wow." She gasped, amazed.
Cealani shifted his weight so he was touching the necklace holding the fragile instrament. The idea he had had circled back in his mind. "I've come to warn you. You must know now that BIG isnt our problum, Catastrophe is. And his army will kill you when they find you have the power. So I have come to protect you, to protect you duty, and to take the power into the after life with me." Caelani knew perfectly well that was imposible, but this mortal creature knew nothing of the life after this.
Her eyes widened. And then they darkened almost instanty. "Im not suposed to guve it to anyone." She said, shifting her weight. "Not even a ghoast, who I can feal prickling on my shoulder."
He laughed. "Like you know anything of ghosts."
She glared into the snow for a moment. And then she reeled. In a swift movement, Caelani snapped the necklace, carying one string in his talon, and flew off swiftly into the storm, the wind giving him speed.
He heard the horse neigh frantically after him.
After a short flight he landed in a sheltered clearing. The snow had stopped, for now. Knwoing that no one was around, he shifted back into his normal form, the necklace still gripped in his talon, now small compared to before.
"You found her." It was Eico's gruff voice as he emerged from the ground. They were never that close, he was the one who Caelani lastly wanted to get stuck alone with. But.....familys family. And he had learned how to hide in anger, thanks to Claaws.
"No, this is just some random other drum." Caelani growled. "YES i found her."
The moments that followed were moments that neither one would ever forget. In the mist, the mist that had started gathering as Caelani had landed, a figure stood. The mist was hazy, and the blurry shape almost looked like...like....a dragon.
"Claaws?" Caelani called, his eyes widening.
No responce. Just a steady hiss as the mist started gathering around their heads. Then a whisper, that almost sounded like....."GiVe Us ThE iNsTrAmEnT........."
"Jaaws...." Eico breathed.
But it wasnt just Jaaws. A disfigured owl had apeared in the trees, her eyes narrowed slits. And as Caelani looked closer, he saw the red haze of a certan Pheonix in the sky and the wingbeats of a creature next to her.
Why did he have to have so many stupid sideaffceted powers?!
"Run." Eico whispered.
Almsot imidatly he burrowed into the earth. Caelani took to the sky and gracefully turned back into a crow. The mist parted at the wind blew around him, and he heard a battle cry from a pheonix and a manticore.
Aya and Leptomoris.
Little did Caelani know that while he was flying away in the sky, Ecio was fighting a battle in the ground with a ground sloth who had escaped his prison of rock...or....had help doing it.
He twisted and turned, and while the two were heavy on his tail, they could never reach him.
And then a sparkle of blue reached his eye. And looking down, he saw the ocean. And his keen eyesight caught something else....who he instantly reconized at Ayearth.
He was too relived to be mad, so instead of avoiding him, he dove right towards him. But at the last second, the Power of Fin looked up and saw Caelani.
And what Caelani saw was not his brother. The eyes of this creature were dark, like pitch black ash, and had a soft red glow. "YoU'vE fAlLeN rIgHt InTo OuR tRaPe...."
he caught a glimpse of white and black at the corner of his eye, blue and red eyes staring right at him, before the water surged fowards and everything went black.
A strange black.
A type where he knew he would never escape from.
Red eyes flashed, and laughter filled his skull, before he fell into nothingness.
~~~
Disclaimer, Grondor is affected by Jaaws, she made him come out of his hiding place where he was mourning his friend who he had realized was his friend too late.
So is Ayearth and his sideaffected power, and now, Caelani.
Idk about the others, up to you I guess. But not Whist, because shes evil too and working with Jaaws, for now. Its all about revenge for her.
Also, another disclaimer, Sylvia is already activated. She just hasnt come out of hiding. I think she was activated long before Claaws, because the horses thought she was good, and she was, and vanished into the forest to do her life-making skills. But she made them forget about releasing her, causing them to gaurd a fake drum that everyone thought was her. She hasnt come out yet because shes scared of the others, scared of what theyll think of her for abandoning them. (You like that? Does everyone agree with that?)
also, Ronan, idk how they found out a way to affect the powers, something invloving brazen goo probably, do you wanna come up with that?
It does, doesn't it? Hazel and Norah, I promise I won't leave you to the zombies!
I have an idea of how the Sideaffected Powers are affecting Powers...
Maybe there's a specific place where the Brazen Goo plant grows--close to where the Powers used to live, or around the ancient places where some of the Sideaffected Powers were created. These flowers are very old and have been feeding off the darkness in the ground that remains from when the Powers made their Sideaffected pals. Basically, they're a different strain of Brazen Goo flower. (think sideaffected flowers...)
Maybe these flowers, instead of damaging the physical properties of Powers, damage their mental/internal properties instead. It's complex, but...the flower burns away their ability to resist their own darkness. Basically, their counterpart's intent takes over their minds.
Just a theory. Thoughts? Perhaps the flowers being used by the SAPs are harvested from where Jaaws was made, which allows Jaaws's darkness to seep into the target Powers.
(January 10, 2018 - 9:18 pm)
Whoa, scary thought. Would there be any way to reverse the hypothetical damage?
(January 12, 2018 - 1:38 pm)
Probably. I haven't really thought that far. I bet if a Power being affected died, went into its instrument, and came back, it'd be cured. Other than that I don't know, unless there was something that weakened Sideaffected Powers. (Elf magic? Some form of light magic? Sylvia might be able to cure them.) It could be used on the afflicted Power to give them a chance to regain control of their mind.
(January 13, 2018 - 4:36 pm)
Elf magic seems to work against Jaaws, so its effects could theoretically extend to the other Sideaffecteds as well. I wouldn't rule out light magic, either, especially as the two go hand in hand.
YES I LOVE THAT IDEA! How about there is no way to counteract it....except.....
Icy had this brilliant idea a while ago about how the amazing story of kyndom will come to a close. Claaws and Lunee will be activated, and the only way to fix the mess Claaws has made, she must make amends with Lunee, and the earth itself, to take back the darkness she has created. But, light must have balance, so in a final showdown Claaws and Lunne kill eachother and disperse into the lands and sky, the powers and sideaffected powers also disappearing forever. (Of course they will be reincarnated, because that's how kyndom spirits work I guess, and I'll write a little bit on Claaws' new being before we end this) Icy, idk whats happens to you and Ronan and Catastrophe, maybe they suddenly become really old and die, and your blue stuff goes everywhere, lighting the world for a moment or too, before vanishing with the rest of the magic. Idk, you and Ronan can decide this?
Wow guys, we're so close! The end is near.....
Noon says cube. NO I WILL NOT DO MY MATH HW YOU CAN'T CONVINCE ME OTHERWISE!!!!!!
Hm...that gives me an idea, Claaws. What do you think of this? It has to do with Jaaws’s plan:
So...Jaaws is starting to affect the Powers as well as the other SAPs, forcing them to follow her. Whist is following her freely, though--for revenge? Against who? (Catastrophe?)
I'm thinking that maybe, at this point, Catastrophe and Jaaws are sort of separated and doing their own things. Catastrophe is at the point where he doesn't need Jaaws's help anymore; he's looking for the artifacts and she feels he can do it on his own. Once he has those he definitely won't need her help. So Jaaws doesn't visit him much anymore.
So the question is, what is Jaaws doing? Planning her own way to take over Kyngdom? That would make sense since she actually said she wanted to a while back. It would also make sense since she's turning her enemies (the Powers) to the dark side. So, this gives me a plot idea.
-Jaaws is turning the Powers to the dark side so Claaws will never be able to reconcile herself with them
-Once she does that she'll basically be able to live forever and take over Kyngdom--after letting Catastrophe do all the hard parts for her
-After Catastrophe has taken over Kyngdom, Jaaws will let Whist kill him (assuming that's who Whist wants revenge on) and Jaaws take over
-BUT--but--(AND CLAAWS THIS IS WHERE YOUR IDEA COMES IN) Everybody who witnesses it thinks there's no way to cure the darkness, and perhaps there isn't, BUT (MAYBE) Claaws gets activated at some point later on and realizes she missed her only chance to make up with her siblings. So, something dramatic happens, and Claaws apologizes (or something like that) and suddenly, in the love of the moment (kinda cheesy I know) Jaaws's influence leaves them and they're back to normal. Then they can go find Lunee? Or, Lunee's already activated at that point and then they can go straight to killing each other. (I don't really know; that's too far away to think about...But, do they have to kill each other? I'd be kinda sad to see them die...)
Long story short, though, Jaaws’s plan fails and she ultimately ends up getting killed.
(And at some point between all that she’ll try to destroy the Elites, assuming they uncover potentially dangerous information.)
What do you think?
(January 15, 2018 - 9:04 pm)
Power of friendship/love is not a great explanation for magic, but Lunee or Sylvia might be able to cut off Jaaws' influence, light and elves and all that. Are elves creations of Sylvia or Lunee?
(January 16, 2018 - 1:35 pm)
I don't know, but I'd say they were probably made by Lunee since she was the Power of Light at one point. Perhaps elves were trustworthy humans chosen by Lunee to carry on her special brand of light magic.
I think either Lunee or Sylvia could effectively cure the Powers--but later on in the story. I'm sure the direction the plot takes will help us decide.
Jaaws~
Jaaws and Whist landed one after the other next to the sea's shore. Out in the ocean, Cealani--in crow form--struggled among the waves.
"Get him," Jaaws hissed as she watched his wings flailing. "And make sure he still has the drum."
Whist growled impatiently and took off over the water.
Jaaws turned around and spotted Aya and Leptomoris landing heavily behind her. "Did Grondor get the Power of Claw under control?" she demanded.
Aya and Leptomoris glanced at each other. "They fight on, to the best of my knowledge," Aya replied.
"They are underground. We cannot see them," Leptomoris added.
Jaaws flicked her tail in annoyance. "Then I'll just have to wait. It would be excellent to get two Powers in one day, but I suppose I can't complain if he ends up escaping."
Whist landed on the shore once more, roughly releasing a sopping wet crow from her talons. "He does not have the drum. I think it must have fallen into the ocean. And I am not going in to grab it."
"I wouldn't expect you to," Jaaws growled. "You'd sink in a heartbeat. Do not worry. I'm sure Ayearth has it by now."
Jaaws closed her eyes and used her mind to search for Ayearth's dark presence. DiD thE dRuM fAll inTo yOuR hAndS?
It took a few seconds for Ayearth to reply. His telepathic voice was slippery and layered with dark undertones. I hAvE iT nOw. wHaT wOuLd yOU lIkE mE tO dO wItH iT?
bRinG iT tO mE.
Jaaws reared up and spread her wings, scattering sand as she took flight. She didn’t trust anyone other than herself to retrieve Sylvia's instrument.
Jaaws hovered over the ocean and waited as a slippery head popped out of the water, followed by a webbed claw wrapped delicately around an intricately designed drum. The Sideaffected Power snatched the necklace out of Ayearth’s talons and quickly slipped it over one of her horns.
“Good work, Power of Fin,” Jaaws breathed. “Stay here.”
She flew back to the shore, where Whist was squinting against the harsh sunlight, feathers blowing weakly in the frigid breeze.
“Have you any more of the Brazen Goo?” Jaaws asked Whist, fingering the drum laced around her left horn.
The owl opened one eye. “No. We used it all on Cealani.”
“I do not risk summoning Sylvia when we cannot keep her under control. Where are Aya and Leptomoris?” Jaaws demanded. They had some of the Brazen Goo.
“I sent them to help Grondor,” Whist sighed. “They were not able to control themselves near Cealani.”
Both Jaaws and Whist looked down at the crow, who was still unconscious and shivering in the sand.
“He should awaken soon,” Jaaws affirmed. “Until then we can only wait while the Brazen Goo affects his mind.”
“I’m going to find some shade,” Whist grumbled, rising to her feet and heading off towards the snowy forest.
---------
(I'm sorry if I controlled too much. Hopefully I got their personalities at least close to right.)
@Claaws, are you going to play Whist? Who plays the other SAPs? I don't think we've ever had a roleplay with them all together. This should be fun. >:P
Oops, the italics got messed up when I copy/pasted it.
Jaaws~
Jaaws, impatient of waiting and wary of being spotted, picked up the unconscious crow off the ground and slung him onto her back. She made for the snowy forest, where she sought out a shadowy grove and settled down in it.
Jaaws then shook Cealani off her back, and as he landed with a thud, he choked up some water and his eyes snapped open. Somehow, they were darker than they'd been before.
Jaaws fanned out her leathery wings and approached the crow. "Cealani."
The crow stood up, wobbly, and shook its head as if to clear it.
"Look at your new master."
Cealani turned around. As soon as his empty eyes met Jaaws's ruby stare, they widened, and something red sparked within their depths. They were no longer expressionless. Something malicious brewed behind them.
"You serve me now, Gryphon. You will answer ONLY to Whist and I...though if it comes down to it, I am the highest authority over you. Aya, Leptomoris, and Grondor are your equals, and my inferiors. Understood?"
Cealani nodded.
"Now return to your true form," Jaaws demanded. "I'm going to step on you if you go on like this."
YeS, mAsTer.
There was a flash of gold, and suddenly Cealani stood before Jaaws as a magnificent gryphon. The dragon appraised him momentarily before cocking her horned head. "Good enough. Let's go find Whist."
They stalked through the trees until coming upon a mist-filled clearing, at the edge of which sat Sylvia's Sideaffected Power.
"Cealani is awake," Jaaws called.
Whist shook her feathers, annoyed. "And so am I, now."
Jaaws turned around to face the gryphon. "Cealani--Grondor, Aya, and Leptomoris are still fighting your brother. If he hasn't been caught yet, go help them apprehend him."
Cealani nodded and flew off.
While they waited for an update on the situation with the Power of Claw, Jaaws and Whist discussed what to do with the drum necklace, which was still wound around Jaaws's left horn and now growing rather tangled among her spines.
However, about half an hour later their conversation was interrupted by Aya, who landed heavily in the center of the clearing. Many patches of her feathers were missing, and thin whisps of smoke curled off those remaining. Aya bowed, and then made an announcement: "The Power of Claw has escaped."
Whist eyed the phoenix critically. "And where are the others?"
"They are coming..."
No sooner had she spoken the words when Cealani and Leptomoris landed heavily on the ground. Jaaws could also feel Grondor settling below them in the earth.
"What happened?" Jaaws demanded.
Cealani stepped forth. "Ecio came to me when he thought I was in trouble. But when he saw my face he panicked and went into the earth. Grondor was too weak to make chase and the Power of Claw escaped."
This wasn't good. Ecio now knew that his siblings were being affected--and he could probably guess by whom.
But who could Ecio tell? They had Sylvia's drum in their possession. Lunee was hidden in who-knows-where. And if Ecio did attempt to find the angel wolf's instrument, Jaaws would be ready and willing to snatch it from his claws. So...perhaps this was for the best.
"Well, never mind Ecio," Jaaws said, her eyes sparkling red in excitement at the prospect of a new toy. "Let us focus on Sylvia now."
---
So obviously they'll be very upset when they realize Sylvia's instrument is fake. Jaaws'll probably get Cealani to track down Blazing Star so they can ask her what she knows.
