Be someone you

Be someone you

Be someone you aren't for a week!

I just got this idea that every other week we could be someone else. Such as, being a person who travels a lot or a nerd or someone superdy duperdy spoiled! I will post who you are supposed to act like at the beginning of every other week.

This week: Act like someone who loves to act and sing. Your person has to travel to Hollywood or Broadway (or both places!) during this week. Your person can be any gender or any age. Put up your posts like diary entries this week. Also remember your character can be mean or good.

If you have any questions, feel free to state them!

Also Admins can do this only if they want to!

Great idea, Choco! It  sounds like fun, but I'm not sure I should take the time to participate.

This is lovely. I don't know if you intended it to be a short story, but it certainly works as one, and I applaud it. It is not at all idealised, and it reads like somebody's real diary - I always get annoyed at "diary" books in which people write long descriptions of scenery, or have dialogue with all the speech tags and whatnot, because nobody actually keeps a journal that way. Also, I know how hard it is to develop character properly in such a short time, but I really did get clear mental pictures of both the main character and her family.

Anyway. Yeah. I liked it. A lot.

If I kept a journal on a regular basis, that is how it would read. And, as the MC is, for all intents and purposes, Me+eight or so years, well... *shrug*

As for the fairly non-idealized portrayal, you can thank drama for that. Doing a play is miserable, and then it isn't. I imagine the professional world is even worse.

Though I will admit I stole the NASA line from Sunday in the Park With George.

Yeah- I was going to say you could always make up a novel with your entries.

1/19

I am sitting here watching TV with my face stained with tears. You are probably wondering why so I will tell you today's happenings. I went to the Broadway theater with Josephine! I was so excited. Josephine told the director that I would be auditioning for Alphaba. But just then a girl with ultra blond hair, a short dress and highheels walked in. "Didn't you promise me that part? " she inquired in a honey sweet voice. The director nodded and told us that that was exactly what he had done. My face was full of shock but then Josephine said the girl had to sing for us. The girl sang a few lines form Defying Gravity and right then I knew I had no chance. Josephine nodded silently and we left the girl who I could now feel smirking behind my back. Josephine told me not to be upset(even though I am terribly upset). We'll try tomorrow. But how will I ever beat this girl?!

I was at school when it happened. I was singing in the courtyard with my guitar during a free period. I'm 15 and a freshman in high school. The whole thing started when I finished singing Cowboy Cassanova by Carrie Underwood. My small school audiance cheered. "That was great Charlie!" one of my best friends cheered. "Yes, that was truly great." A man in a dark leather suit with a crisp navy tie and a neat haircut walked over to me. I had no idea who he was or why he was here, or why he'd just complimented me. "Ummm, thanks? Who are you?" I asked. "I am the producer for the new show A twist on reality, a show about a girl from Dallas Texas who moves to Los Angeles California and finds out she's extra-ordinary. She's a demi-god. She goes to camp half-blood and all that. We have Rick Riordran's permission, and we're doing a new show about his Percy Jackson books. I would like for you to play the main role." My jaw dropped; this was a HUGE opportunity for me! But what about my parents? I still had to ask them about this. "A few questions," I started. "Yes?" the producer asked. "Where is this shooting, will I have to move there, and do I have to decide now?" "A twist on reality, is shooting in Hollywood California, and yes you will have to move to Hollywood, and no, you don't have to decide now. Here's my card." He shoved a small piece of cardboard with his name, John Smith, the set number, his number, and the director's number. "If I don't hear back by Friday, you're out." Friday! That was two days away! I would have to decide if I was going to move to Hollywood, be the star in a major TV show, and leave my life here in Miami Florida in two days!? It seemed impossible. "All right, I'll think about it." When he left, my friends leaped at me. Comments like, "Well, are you gonna do it?" and "You have to!" and "Can I be your co-star?" flew around me. They were all a buzz. Hollywood California! It felt like a dream becoming a reality. "HEY! EVERYBODY SHUT-UP AND GIVE THE GIRL SOME SPACE!" my best friends Rae Jones yelled. Everyone backed off. I knew they were all kinda scared of Rae; she was tall and muscular, and her dad happened to be a cop. "Listen Charlie, it's either you take the job and be Charlette/Charlie Blue, the star of A twist on reality, or you don't take the job and go back to being Charlie Blue, the girl who can never ace a math test." I blushed. Rae had just said my real name, Charlette, a name I didn't really like. But on the other hand, she had a point. It was simply I took the job, or I didn't. "I'm going to talk to my parents tonight, and if they say yes, then I'm taking the job. If they say no, well, then I'm back to being Charlie Blue, the girl who can never ace a math test." Rae smiled.

AT HOME-

That night when I got home the first thing I did was ask my parents and my little brother Dustin if I could talk to them in the living room. They calmly walked into the living room, having no idea what I was about to say. "Mom, Dad, Dustin, the producer for the new TV series A twist on reality came to school today and offered me a job as the lead role. To get the job we have to move to Hollywood California, and I have to answer him by Friday. If I don't respond by then I'm off the show. Can I please tell him yes? Can we go to Hollywood, and can I play the lead role on A twist on Reality?"

(Was that ok? I tried to make it suspensefull, did I do a good job?)

I can't believe it! That blond haired girl is going to try out with me.  Josephine talked with the manager and said it wasn't fair. Now I'm practicing the songs from Wicked hoping that this will turn out well. I'll write later dear diary! Josephine's coming in 5 minutes.

Oh Consuar, I'm so sorry that I couldn't write to you! Wednesday we were rehearsing until one in the morning, and yesterday was the matinee! Oh, I got the part!! Consuar, could you come to the final showing? The director will pay for the flight! My, what joy it would be to see you again! What was it, six years ago that we last met, and I had a cold! I know that Auntie would want you to stay,  but Justin could take care of her, and you could use a day off! Oh, you might want to know that I found a some good friends. Justin was wrong. I guess that I am likable! I must go, the costume designer is fixing one of my dresses; it snagged on a hook and almost ruined the whole show. I've been looking at houses a few miles out of the city. New York is a very nice place...

Well, you won't believe it. I feel like screaming (with joy of course.) I got the part and now that blond girl with the high heels is pouting in the corner! I feel so happy. In a few minutes I'll be fitted. You know what! The director said he hadn't heard a voice like that for a long time. Josephine was proud. Oh yes! I love it here in the city! And guess what! The first show is on Monday. Wish me luck dear diary! Note to self: write to mom and dad.

Letter from Ariana to Mom and Dad:
