Basically, it's the same thing as NaNo, but it's in July (hence 'Jul.'). I didn't have the chance to do NaNo, so I was delighted to learn that I could do it now. However, there are a few disadvantages. There's no YWP, and if you don't check the box saying that you're 13, you can't sign up, so anyone under 13 who wants to do this must lie about their age. I also don't know if the winners receive their novel in book form. It wasn't mentioned on the website, although I've enquired about it, so I should find out soon.
Chances are, doing NaNo once a year is enough for most of you, but if anyone does want to do it again, or couldn't participate last year, you can probably signup by Googling it.

I agree. I wish there was some way to change it. But unfortunately, there isn't. Well... There might be, and there probably is, but I don't particaularly want to go to the trouble, even though I don't like to be annoyed by the same thing that also makes me guilty. Both at the same time are...well, not wanted, but I need to have something. But who knows? Maybe I'll end up staying on schedule. There are actually people who've written 50k in a day, although of course I could never, ever do that. It involves writing over 2,000 words per hour for 24 hours straight, with no sleep in between. If I tried that... Well, I'd fall asleep. *must stop using the word 'well' so often*

Good luck all JulNoers!!! I wanted to do something on the side without being officially signed up to make sure I'm capable of writing a novel, except for the fact that the story I just started takes a ton of research and I didn't quite realize that until after I started it. And now I'm going to camp for 10 days and... well... I'll just try to write relatively fast. My plan was to start early, before July and spill into August, but it's nothing formal. I'm only at about 2827 words and day three (I started a day before)... I just didn't know about my necessary research. *shakes head* Okay, I'm rambling so I'll just wrap it up... Anyway, have fun!

Have you tried using Write or Die? It's a website for WriMos that forces you to write. If you go to long without typing it starts eating your words. It's really helped me. Google it.
It helped me break four and a half thousand! /boasting

Unfortunately, the screen of my laptop has a tendency to turn black, and stay that way for a few seconds or longer. Write Or Die blames me and eats my words when it isn't my fault for not writing, so I can't use it. I think I'll save a copy to my e-mail account and work on the other computer, so that I can use it. And I will start writing now—oh. I can't. Or I can't, but I can't use Write Or Die. The internet connection isn't working on the laptop... Oh, well.

If you set it on "normal" it'll just make a really irritating noise until you start typing again, instead of eating your words. That might be better for you. (And it's a /really/ irritating noise -- your family will be begging you to start writing.)

Yes I have heard of Write or Die. It just doesn't quite help when I have to try and look up diseases that result in death, work perfectly for my character, and are little known. I think I have one, but I still need to to more research and I just got back from camp... But yes, I should do Write or Die just for any writing anyway. You have me motivated!
Good luck guys! Write, write, write!

Good luck everyone who is doing this! I'm not, because...well first of all I'm not brave enough. Also I like to take my time writing. Don't forget to get outside between writing!

Outside? There is no outside. Outside does not exist. It is nothing more than a story.

@ ZNZ: I'll definitely try that. I'll still have to use my other computer, though, because I don't want my family to get angry because I can't see the screen.
@ Amy: Thanks! I'm beginning to wonder how I'll possibly continue at this rate (*is behind*), but I'll certainly try. And as for getting outside, I'm not sure how much of that I'll be doing, but that's mainly because I live in Texas where winter is when people go outside the most (and fall, but not July, especially not me *hates heat*), but I'll try not to let writing keep me in more often than usual.

Also, I'm not nearly as behind as my profile says. I haven't updated my word count in a while, but I've been wrtiting more than it says. Much more...
