Ann and Mary Liz's Story!
Okay, Mary Liz, I think we should do fantasy. I had a good one about a girl trying to learn to ride dragons, griffins and phoenixes in this thing called Flightschool. To pass from 5th to 6th, they have to have their own Flightbeast, which they get from a place called the Firepool. It is a giant volcanic pool filled with Flightbeast eggs. The eggs chooose you, and no egg has chosen the girl yet, so she should be in 7th grade, but is still in 5th. On the trip that they take to the Firepool, she runs off into the woods because a girl is teasing her, and she finds a very small, ice-cold pool. In the pool is a single jet-black egg. She takes it in her bag and when it hatches she finds out that it is a dark magic little black griffin. Dark magic Flightbeasts are supposed to be excecuted, but it is actually very nice so she decides to run away so that they don't kill it.

I love that idea (so long as it doesn't go all Paolini on us...). How would you like to write this--- do you want to post from one person's point of view and I'll post from another's, or we post write in the same POV, or... what?
Also, any name suggestions for the girl?

I think maybe we should write from the same POV, as long as you think that's okay. At first her name was Aria, but then I re-read Brisingr and found that that was the name of the elf in there. Then her name was Larkiy, but that was a really bad name. I have used all my good names. Hence, I am out of ideas. I would have more names, but all of my exotic-fantasy-character names are used up on multiple important character stories.

I actually think I stole the name Shay out of "The Music Of Dolphins," a really good book. Makes me cry every time I read it. Well, back to the SUBJECT, I don't think that this will go all Paolini on us, because it's not really an "ancient lost mysterious art of riding creatures that hatch out of eggs that choose you." It's really not uncommon to go to Flightschool. It's like.. like.. acting. Like acting.

Hmm.. what about the captain of the guards and a mysterious "ally" that she thinks is good but is sabatoging things and clipping the griffin's claws.
