first RP!

Crumbling and overgrown since the late sixties, the only thing most people ever see of the Hillside Motel is the neon sign, unlit for the past few decades. The Hillside Motel, or what remains of it, is nestled deep in the forest somewhere between Mount Vernon and Stanwood. It lies on a short strech of the pacific highway called Bonnieview Road. From there, you can see both Snohomish and Skagit County, their riches and wonders lying bare and free.

The sign has, of course, been dark for years and years.

Until now.

The neon light has, somehow, returned. The Motel is, somehow, refurbished. And slowly but surely, guests arrive at the Hillside Motel. They have seen the sign. And it has, for lack of a better term, opened up their eyes. So the guests come. Alone, or in groups. Walking, crawling, eager, sullen. In trucks hailing from Montana, in Dodge Caravans from Spokane. On foot. Hitchers and bored Nepo babies from Seattle. Prince or Pauper, Knight or Knave, the same thing awaits all guests. A key to a room with two beds, a radiator, and a televison that has cable on it. Free access to the pool. And a discount if they order from Little Caeser's.

And, of course, there are many tales that one could tell about the Hillside motel, the strange folk who visited it, and the odd things that take place there, even to this day...

OKAY! i haven't done any roleplays since before my two year hiatus, so i might need a little help! pretend you're helping your grandfaher set up an email, but instead of helping your grandfather set up an email you're helping a nonbinary teenager set up a roleplay.

okay, so it's nothing like that first thing i said at all.

i'm gonna be pretty laissez faire, you can do whatever, as long as it isnt HORRIBLE.

It's time for me to shamelessly self promote!

if you've read or assisted in playing the terminal, this happens in the same universe! if you haven't read it, go do it. PLEASE??!!! (http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/553341)

if you've read my short fiction in the random writing thread, (in which case, your name is celineburningbright, huge shout out to celine for giving me more positive input than i deserve) this is in the same universe as that too! you don't actually have to go read that stuff.

i was going to write under an SI, but then i posted a question about how RP's work in the random thought/things like some RUBE

After noting that there is unfortunately no plumbing in my room, I make my way down the stairs to speak with the receptionist, Gretchen.

She greets me with a bright smile and asks how she can help.

I explain my situation. "As much as I love Victorian novels, I also quite enjoy plumbing." I say with a laugh.

Some person with the name Nicolette Winchell starts interrogaing me about Plumbing. I try my best to appear interested.

"You can file a request to be moved. Until then, there is a public restroom by the pool."

I gesture at the bowl of mints in front of me.

"As compensation, you may take two mints instead of the usual one."

Gretchen informs me that I can file a request for a room. I nod.

"All right, then. I would indeed like to file a request. Would you please let me know when a new room is in order?" I ask.

"I will. As compensation, you may take two mints instead of the usual one." She gestures at the bowl of mints sitting on the reception desk.

Well. I suppose that will have to do.

hi! would you care to ship asher and eric? i think they'd be cute together (although it's up to you!), with eric being more sunshiney but still slightly macabre and asher being the more depressed/gloomy of the pair but still being able to use his dark sense of humor around eric. :)

name: Meadow Flowers

pronouns: they/them

appearance: long black hair, bangs

personality: prefers to sink into the background - probably for nefarious and sinister reasons - and likes to people-watch, every move seems calculated, is an EXTREMELY and SCARILY good actor (you can never tell what's real and what's not)

luggage: a bright orange bucket (filled with miscellaneous things)

brief history: grew up in a loving and caring family. Nothing more is known.

pet peeve: overly cheery people (e.g. their parents). Even if it's genuine cheer. They still kept their name though, for some reason.

virtue: goes out of their way to help people

flaw: is only helping people to gain trust so they can break it

interesting characteristics (okay, so i'm kind of going for a sort of "macabre" aesthetic. it'd be nice if any interesting characteristics fit in the general aesthetic, like, your characters don't have to be completely human, but, like, "wolf ears" would not fit in the aesthetic the way, say, pitch black eyes would.): umm.. I guess everything up there is sorta macabre?? Bags under eyes, send to sink into the shadows...?

would you describe your character as melancholic, phlegmatic, chloeric, or sanguine: give me a moment to look up all those words

oh wait just realized I didn't finish this yet sorry

Ok. Phlegmatic?

favorite song: ummm idk. Burn the house down??? Yes I'm a mess?? Oh and btw they don't like social media. Like, at all. Like, they absolutely loathe it, abhor it, if they were given a choice between the world ending or social media, they'd pick the world ending, no questions asked.

favorite color: soft pale pink. It looks almost innocent. Oh, and orange.

shipping: I mean, no objections. Don't think it'd be the best for whoever's on the other side though. They basically don't have any feelings. Who knows, maybe they're a robot.

reason for visiting motel: do you really want to know? (read: idk either)

Welcome, Asher! Your room number is 139. It is an excellent room, with plenty of shadows to sink into.

We hear you are nefarious and sinister! So are we, so we believe this will be an excellent fit!

We hope you enjoy your stay! If you have any questions, consult Gretchen, the front desk servant.

"Charming," I say, the first words out of my mouth when I see the Hillside Motel. It looks like it's been recently fixed up, though I can still see a few cracks here and there.

The night has dawned upon the forest in which this motel was tucked away. An interesting place to put a motel, to say the least, but an adventure is an adventure. Or so the reviews promised.

I walk up to the door, which is ajar, and cautiously step in through the door. There's a woman at the front desk, a slip of paper pinned to her reading "Gretchen".

"I'm checking in," I explain to her. She hands me the room key and informs me that my room is 214. I thank her and take the stairs to the second floor and quickly find my room.

My room is quite nice and standard. I settle myself, putting down my luggage, and decide to take a walk on one of the forest trails. They seem perfect for some exploration.

-Inanna Skye-

I stroll the length of my room. It looks fairly nice, but the sound of skittering in the walls make it obvious that it's a shinned up rotten apple. Ah well! It's fixable, probably. I watch a bug flee to the shadow as I walk by, peering out the window at the parking lot below. I decide that I might go crazy if I stayed in the room any longer, since I was a little bit of a neat freak and if there were bugs it was probably dirty, so I left, locking it behind me.

I walk downstairs, to the lobby, and find a chair to sit in. It probably wouldn't be very busy, but I did enjoy people watching. Maybe someone would come and say hi. Whateva. I stretched, putting my hands behind my back, and watch the front desk.

Does anyone want to talk with Inanna?
