Writing Prompts!
I need ideas. And I figure other people do too. So, on this thread you can post writing prompts. They can be one word or a couple sentences or a whole paragraph or dialogue or a journal entry... really anything you can think of. I personally quite like one-word prompts but anything's good :) Here's a couple just off the top of my head:
Hurricane
"I'd lost everything, but then I found..."
It wasn't my fault! Really!
Rainforest
Jaguar
@Admin if you have any that would be cool too! :)))) thanks so much for all you do by the way
You're welcome. I can't take time to add any right now, but maybe I will later this evening.

Go to a random word generater. Generate a random adjective, then a random noun, and you've got your prompt! Or do ten random words and see if you can find inspiration from those.

I know these are a sentences, but I'm hoping they will be helpful to any of those who might need them!
All I saw was a dark blue flash, and then they, whoever, or whatever it was, was gone. (The flunecy is kinda bad on this one, sorry about that)
Thousands of silver and wooden pipes stretched all the way up to the roof, sparkling in the light that seeped in from the windows above them.
"So what does happen when the sun becomes a red giant?"
I buried my face in my hands as I felt the enemy's hand wrap around my arm.
Her emerald eyes glowed in the afternoon light and her short cropped hair curled into spirals at the tops of her shoulder blades.
I hope these help! These are actually some sentences I took from a story I'm writing, so I hope it will inspire others to create something too!

Should we post the stories we write from the prompts here, or save the thread for prompts only?
(May 29, 2021 - 2:31 pm)
It's up to you! You can choose to share your stories here or you can keep them to yourself. I might share one that I wrote with the prompt Shadow but I think I'm going to edit and revise it a bit first. But if you want to share please do!

- Two rivals become roommates at a boarding school through an accident, and they fall in love
- A younger half-sibling makes it all the way to New York, to find their older half-sibling who's their only living relative, and they go back to their hometown (which is across the country), and you know, angst and bonding :)
- A tarot reader who has absolutely no divine powers tries to scam a prophet on the side of the road. Shenanigans insue.
- Friends to lovers, except they're two friends who are royalty of differing countries, and after a marriage out of convenience, they find out that they actually like each other, and absolutely nobody is surprised.
- The main character contracts with a divine being, and becomes a vigilante (Madoka Magica vibes)
- The sole royal heir of a country is murdered in the dead of night, but they're actually still alive. How? The heir was swapped with the child of the local alchemist. And, uh, the heir invents guns. Shenanigans insue :)

These are all hilarious, mate... Plus such convoluted anime-esque vibes~

Eyyyyy thank you! I've got some more, because I'm here to spill my ideas!
- New year's kiss, except the main character can't remember who they kissed because they have memory issues, and they have to figure out who they kissed without telling anyone else that they kissed someone, for ... I don't know, figure out a context. Hilarious shenanigans ensue.
- Two friends are stuck in a one-day time loop, and the time loop can only be solved through their combined efforts. Problem is ... they live in different time zones, so their time loops only intersect for one hour.
- The main character meets someone who doesn't know what socks are. You decide why.
- The main character finds a book that if they write in it, it comes true. Problem is, after so many centuries of mishaps and near-world-ending-experiences, the god that controls the book has added so many rules that it's nearly impossible to do anything. The main character has to find the most hilarious loopholes to try and get things done with the book.
- Fourth chair clarinetist and fourth chair flutist absolutely hate each other. Why? The fourth chair flutist plays so loud that the clarinetist can't hear anything (speaking from personal experience), and the fourth chair clarinetist always somehow kicks the flutist's case all the way across the room (not speaking from personal experience). Enemies to friends (definitely not from personal experience, I have not talked to the flutist who sits next to me once), or possibly lovers.
- More rivals to lovers :) Two opposing captains of debate teams fall in love.
- Two students who have never met before play each other in the final game of their school's chess club's tournament. The one playing white has a running joke about how the Grunfeld defense is inherently the most romantic chess opening. When the one playing black plays the Grunfeld defense, the other asks them out on a date for kicks.

I have a whole notebook for prompts, so I can give you some:
1. The small fishing town that rested on the coast of Japan was nothing but a few houses, a trading poost, the small family owned restaurant, the school, and the docks. The docks were always busy. From daybreak to sundown they were busy with life as the fishermen went out to fish and the children played on the unused boats until their mothers called them in.
2. The morning of June the 27th was clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full summer day; the flowers blossoming proofoundly and the grass was richly green.
3. On the outskirts of town their lived...
4. As usual, the inhabitants of 44 Chesire Lane were late to rise, except for, of course, Matilda.
5. Someone had knocked on the door, quite gently, but the Doctor awoke at once.
Thats all I have. I hope they're useful to those who need prompts.
