NaNoWriMo.
Having heard good things (very good things along the lines of "NaNo tore out my soul, melted my brain, and broke my left thumb") about NAtional NOvel WRIting MOnth, I skimmed a few older threads on the subject and then checked out the NaNo site. Very very extensively. Then with my mother's permission I signed up. It looks very interesting. I'm pretty sure there are at least two other people on here who do it...
Anyway, I'm practicing the "procrastinating" part for November by making random posts on Cricket instead of finishing my summer homework... the middle school teachers will just adore me, I'm sure.

I too, have an inborn hatred for anything "for kids" (especially the kids table! And the kids menu! And the "for kids tv shows" and the people who think I am "smart for a kid" since I have actual-gasp-opinions that differ from what they see on TV.) but the rules said that by signing up for the normal one I am a certain age that I am not, and I did not want to lie.

Oh. Thanks, TNO (umlaut). And yes, the forums are indeed impossible to navigate. I still haven't figured it out.

I feel so incredibly brilliant. I just found TNO's (umlaut) profile. The strangest things make me happy...

This sounds fun! I went to the website as soon as I saw this, and I want to do this. I'm a huge procrastinator when it comes to writing, and I think that this is exactly what I need to rid me of that particular fault. I need something to force me to force myself to work!
I don't want to lie about my age, though, so I'll just do the YWP.

Hey TNO I signed up for the normal one! How do you buddy? Well anyways my user name is (drum roll pease)... Adina. Yeah, I'm so creative.
(August 20, 2009 - 3:19 pm)
@ Ima: Oh, you don't have to lie. Just don't click the "above thirteen" box when you're signing up. *shrug* I didn't, and it worked fine. On the profile I said I was eleven, and no moderators came ordering me to leave... you should be able to do the real one if you want. You're more mature that some thirteen-year-olds I know, for what it's worth.
@ Adina: Don't feel bad, I'm just Mary W. At least your name is unique. ;) (you have such an awesome name)
I will now gather up some courage and investigate the whole writing buddy thing. *deepth breath*

Did you lie about your age, or did they let you create an account without checking the box that said you were 13? My parents aren't home, so I can't actually sign up, I can only look at the sign-up page.

*trembles quietly* I just posted a "hi I'm new" thread on the Newbies forum... after three days of "lurking"...
(August 20, 2009 - 7:33 pm)
I think I'm going to do it this year, but I'm not sure. I have to look into it more.
(August 20, 2009 - 7:23 pm)
You could do it unofficially, without signing up on the site.
(August 20, 2009 - 10:39 pm)
@ Ima: No. I didn't lie. I just didn't check the "over thirteen" box. And it went through fine.
(August 21, 2009 - 9:54 am)
Maybe I will do the adult one... I haven't signed up for the kids one yet, so I can do the normal one instead.
(August 21, 2009 - 11:26 am)
Hey, I just signed up and made a thread on the Newbies forum. :D

I still did not get the email with the password!!! Maybe I did something wrong!

Yeah, I saw your thread and was like AH! I know someone other than TNO (umlaut) on here! and all that. I was very excited. >_> I added you to my buddy list, as well.
