Spontaneous RP!

Spontaneous RP!

Sometimes I feel like we get so caught up in the developement and rules of a RP that it dies before we even make it very far (I know that's happened to me...Combat Cliff RPG, Griffinfeather RPG the first...and more).

So, let's just do some writing.

two rules.

1. Put forth your absolute best. Even if it's not going to be published or maybe no one else but me will read it. It's good for your writing. Trust me.

2. Make sure everything lines up! Mostly!! Inserting random flying unicorns is okay, but killing a character off and then making them reappear might be a little confusing.

If you are still confuzzled, check out this thread to see what I mean:

http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/65463

just make up a character and join the story. You can be a character I've mentioned or somebody new. My characters are Pheonix and Carlena.

Without further ado, let us begin.

~

"Carlena scratched at the wall's smooth surface, her heart pounding so loud she could hardly think. The dark rectangle seemed to close in around her, pressing in on all sides; squeezing her lungs flat and yanking away all the oxygen. The air was hot and sizzling with frusteration and fear. Throwing herself against the wall, Carlena melted onto the floor. She was stuck. Enclosed in a horrible crystal box while her own dear sister, Caroll, was set on destroying Jewel Academy. All she could do was sit here, helpless and terrified out of her wits, while Caroll did away with everything she worked towards. Carlena tried to take a calming breath and found she could not breath. The walls were closing in...her eyes whirled crazily around the shadows; searching for an exit. If Cassey doesn't get the children out of the academy in time, they'll all... Carlena let out a frusterated gasp of despiration. Oh come on, Carlena! You can't let a little claustrophobia defeat you, girl! She said to herself. The spunky Galaxy Witch sat up slowly and brushed back the gigantic bush of chalk-white, ankle length hair from her damp forehead. Carlena then—"

"Pheonix! Jaihra's on the phone!" My older sister called from downstairs.

"COMING!" I yelled back, dropping The Charming Adventures of Carlena the Galaxy Witch to the floor. Galexia looks up at me in surprise from her nest of pillows on the floor, her eyes clouded, obviously still deep inside the story.

"But...that's not fair! Nixie!" My little sister moans, "What happens to Carlena? What happens to the seven sisters and the academy?"

"You're just going to have to find out next time!" I say with a wink. Galexia shakes her head furiously, sending her fluffy brown pigtails into a frenzy,

"It's not fair that I don't get to see what happens next because you wanna go talk to your giiiiirlfriend," she says angrily. On the last word, an evil smile begins to curl on her lips. I stop half-way to the door.

"Jaihra is NOT my girlfriend. And we have very important things to talk about," I retort hotly before rushing out of Galexia's frilly, pink bedroom and down the stairs, taking the story book with me. The wood steps creak under my feet as I race down, nearly slipping on the last one.

"Yeah, Jaihra, he's coming," I hear my 21-year-old sister, Andromeda, say, Rounding the corner, I can see her leaning against the counter in a red tank top and shorts, her long brown hair in a messy braid over one shoulder. She has my phone tucked between her hear and shoulder while she casually flips through pages of her sketchbook, twirling a bright blue pencil with her free hand.

"I'm here!" I yell breathlessly in her face.

"Took you long enough," she says, rolling her eyes and handing over the phone, "go take your chatting upstairs. You two 'll talk my ears off. Upstairs!" She commands, pointing her pencil.

"Hi Jaihra!" I greet into the phone.

"Hi Pheonix! Ummm...are you alone??" She asks cautiously, "I have an update on...you know...project Milky Way Sorceress and...uh...the Precious Stone School," she hints not-so-subtly.

"Yeah, just a sec," I answer, dashing back upstairs to my room and bouncing onto my bed.

"Okay! Shoot!" I exclaim, tossing down the story book beside me. It flips open to the title page; which is covered with words I'm glad Galexia can't read yet.

For my nephew, Pheonix. I hope you enjoy my charming adventures!!! Please keep in mind that these are all absolutely true and my heroism was not exagerated in the least. Hope that you can soon join me in Jewel Academy! Once you set out on your journey to find it, that is.

Your Aunt Carlena, the spunky Galaxy Witch

P.S. do not show this to anyone or I may have to incenerate them.

I let the book cover slide closed. Yeah, Galaxia, we do have important things to talk about.

I was making mood boards for the Starz and stumbled upon this quote..."tell me not to do something, and I will do it twice and take pictures." I put it for Andromeda's and it was so perfect!! I won't post the mood boards b/c the images/quotes are not my own, but ahhh they're so adorable! I love Andromeda's so much. So much sass and cool big sister-ness.

Cosplay huh? What a weird concept. I then use my drop of yellow in the sea of red magic to get a sense of my surroundings.

There is no one with magic exept for us- Wait, there's a girl with... Silver magic? How is that possible, there are only seven types of magic! Then again I have reddish orange magic sooo maybe not that impossible.

I shoulder Raja "Watch it!" she hisses at me.

"We're the only ones with magic here other than that girl" I subtly point to the girl.

"Then let's go talk to her and explore!!!" Pheonix pipes in

"Nixie we need to be careful" Andromeda says as she puts a calming hand on Pheonix's shoulder.

"Pheonix the adults are talking" I jokingly say as Andromeda shooyts me a glare. "By the way are Dom and Dathan joining us on our excirsion or are they going to stay behind to fix the ship?"

Pheonix~

This place is crazy.

And I mean that in the best way possible. We walk up the rocky beach and up a black roadway of some sort to reach the main city, attracting attention from several people on the way. I keep thinking I see signs of magic, but then I realize they actually aren't. A boy with wings. A poster of a girl with blue hair.

There are so many things happening everywhere. The city is bursting with life, color, and individuality. All sorts of buildings of all different sizes line the roadways, while people and mechanical travel devices and so many other things flood the city. The expanse flows right into the water, with little buildings dotting the sand.  There was nothing like this in Monere. Everyone had a set area with a few convenience stores, schools, houses, common areas, a transmit tower and a flight port. Everyone could walk everywhere they needed to be. There was no change or adventure.

I stand in the middle of a walkway, staring at everything. This is so amazing! I could live here forever.

Jaihra butts me out of my trance with an elbow-nudge to the ribs, and I realize she's talking to the boy with "wings." Something about cosplay?

"What's cosplay?" I blurt out, but Raja shushes me. The boy walks away. Andromeda and the others walk up behind us, passing a towel around and staring.

"What's cosplay?" I repeat to Andromeda. She shrugs.

"Obviously some cultural ritual they perform around here that involves dressing like inhuman beings. It's not that unusual."

"Yeah, but if they aren't magic friendly, it gives us a nice cover," Lyra points out.

"Uh-hu, but what if someone pulls on your wings? Or your tail?" She nods to Raja, "here. You'll need something to help. Just to...keep a low profile. And NO zipping around and getting up to crazy shenanigans. Feet on the ground, all people with wings," she commands. Then, to my surprise, she reaches into one of her pockets and picks out three blue, heart-shaped objects.

"What are those?" Zephyr questions, bending down to get a good look at them.

"Charms. I got them at the Spectrum System. It's a hideout for a lot of blue magic wielders, among other shady groups. We do a lot of hiding and sticking the shadows. Just charge them with a little blue magic..." she demonstrates, her hands glowing slightly blue... "and they'll start working!" She hands one to Raja, Zephyr, and Lyra.

"Put them on you somewhere," she instructs, squinting from the intense sunlight, "they won't change your appearance, but they'll make you hard to look at straight on. No one should really be able to clearly see your...interesting features." The three comply, and sure enough, when I look over at Raja, she seems obscured and farther away, making me blink like I need glasses.

"Cool!" I exclaim.

"Don't you dare break these. They were very expensive," Andromeda warns. Zephyr begins to look around, drinking in the crowds of people, bright strips of sunlight dancing on the water just across the winding roadway, and shimmering sand dotted with chairs, towels, and happily noisy people.

"Are Dom and Dathan joining us on this excursion, or are they staying behind to fix the ship?" He asks.

"They're going to hunt around for some ship fuel, or someplace that's friendly to alien* tech," Andromeda explains.

"So what do we do?" Saphira asks, hands on her hips as she surveys her surroundings slowly like she's looking for the best way to conquer a challenge. Andromeda slides the ponytail holder out of her hair, shaking the choppy blue main out over her shoulders. Running her fingers through it, she looks up at the cloudless blue sky and smiles slowly.

"We have fun, of course."

"Wait a second, Dom told us not to do anything until he contacted us with any information he could find," Sam reminds us.

"Oh, we won't get into trouble...it's just a little reconnaissance, right?" Andromeda replies, staring greedily at the lapping waves.

"Who's in!"

"Me!" I exclaim. The others shrug.

I should warn you: my sister is quite insane.

I mean that in the coolest way possible. She takes off running for the beach, and the rest of us follow tripping off shoes, hats, jackets, and, in my case, shirts as we go.

*Not like green aliens. They're technically aliens. Just people who don't live on Earth.

Sort of random, but I found this cat girl I drew about a year ago, and I feel like I have to turn it into my favorite feisty, navigating, green magic bearing cat anthro. :) (hopefully this shows)

Sacra~

The group of teens (?) I had been watching carefully are consulting among themselves. Then, to my surprise and curiosity, they run along the sandy beach, yelling and laughing. They strip off any spare clothes and plung into the water. I smile, but it fades as soon as it appeared as the one who was watching me while I was lying next to a tent look at me and narrow her eyes. The look she gives me through the slits asks many questions. Who are you? How can you see us? A faint blue shimmer ripples around them, and a question enters my own eyes as a memory stirs in the back of my mind. I blink and it is gone, leaving me with the feeling that I knew what was peculiar about them and the sense of fear, not unlike the fear that one experiences when fighting being sent off into the unknown. I walk in their footprints left on the sand. They are swimming around in the salty water, and some of them seem quite unexperienced. I laugh quietly and slip into the water nonchalontly, as I have a bathing-suit on under my clothes. They stare at me.

"Hello." I whisper. They start talking quietly amongst themselves. One girl, the one with bright blue hair, whips around, her hands on her hips.

"How can you see us?" She asks, a hint of alarm in her voice. I shrug. The girl who watched me wades over to me, inspecting me carefully.

"Your aura... It's silver. How? What is up with you?" She could've phrased that a little bit better but at the moment I didn't care much. I raise my hands, the backs of my hands touching the surface of the water.

"Can I trust you?" They eye me warily and confer with each other but after a little while they turn back to me. The girl with blue hair crosses her arms.

"Only if you can be trusted in return." I smile.

"Depends on whether or not your intentions align with mine." The boy laughs despite himself. He flicks a hand at the blue-haired girl.

"Go on Andromeda. This girl's smart. Even if we tell her she's probably figured it out on her own." I agree silently. Andromeda nods to me reluctantly. I look over my shoulder, making sure that nobody else is watching. Nobody is. I glance down at my hands.

~~

Just FYI for anybody who is making a charrie, Sacra is open to shipping with a boy.

@Everyone who is in this RP, I was thinking that Sacra was not originally from Earth, and she was sent away because of her magic. Maybe she has some hidden bodily features that are hidden by her magic...?

(August 6, 2018 - 8:23 pm)

Rogue, I'm pretty sure all normal humans can see them... or else, how could non-magic people like Dathan and Jaihra see them? Besides, Myrtle needs to somehow see them, too... maybe something else special about Sacra can catch their attention, but I don't think the crew is invisible.

submitted by Cassandra the First
(August 7, 2018 - 5:29 pm)

Yep! They aren't invisible. The charms Andromeda handed out only make the characters with inhuman features (like wings) a little hard to look st straight on, so they don't look ToO real and everyone just assumes it's cosplay.

Does Sacra have manifestations of magic (silver hair if cut after age twelve and silver eyes), or does her magic show up differently because it is special? \

Also, I'm sorry if this is long and seemingly meaningless, I just really wanted to delve into Andromed's character and development a little bit. I'm also sorry that I just kind of repeated everything said before, I was just rewriting it without the being able to see part. Is that okay??

Andromeda~

I leave Dom's jacket spread over my combat boots in a pile on the sand and dive into the cool, clear water headfirst.

My fingers trail in clouds of sand. Shoreline waves wash the heat from my face and cool my head, feeling like a delicious rain from stormclouds of worry. I could live in a place like this. A little adventurous, a little relaxed. But then again, I would probably get bored and take the first spaceship out of here to find enough action to keep me entertained.

Surfacing, I whip my hair back. It's wet, blue tendrils trace over the back of my neck and onto my soaked shirt. A droplet of water falls between my lips and I spit it out. Pheonix looks over at me.

"It's salty!"

"Really?" He asks, immediately cupping his hands and slurping water from them. And then spitting it out.

"Hey! You're right! That's so weird." And then, of course, everyone has to try the salty water.

"Look Andromeda!" Galexia exclaims as she thrusts something in my face.

"Ooh. Cool." I look at it closer. It's hard and spiky, like rock, but not exactly. Suddenly, I remember traveling to a rare arboretum in Monere which housed animals and unique plants not seen in Common Areas.

"It's a shell. Some ocean creatures wear it. It looks like this one's left home for a vacation." I hand it back to her and she runs off to show Saphira and Lyra, who are building an intricate house out of the sand.

My heart aches like someone drained it hollow. Seeing her purple hair, tousled from its dip in the briny water, stabs me with the frustration of a caged animal. Even with the scraps of magical knowledge I've managed to pick up tell little about purple magic, except that its patron sister, Caroll, has schemed to take over the galaxy multiple times but is always stopped by Carlena. Or so Carlena's first-person accounts say. What will it do to her while I watch helplessly? What will it do to my baby?

I take a deep breath, surfacing out of my despair. My way of facing difficulties is to face them head on and give them a good kick in the gut with my favorite pair of combat boots or to do something crazy until I forget about everything bothering me. As much as I'd love to flatten Carol and her evil magic with my big toe, I can't exactly do that, so I look around for a distraction.

Further down the beach, a girl sits with her arms around her knees, staring at where the sun meets the water. Far out on the curling waves in front of her, some guy rides on top of the water on a board of some sort. I watch him for a few minutes, as he paddles outward, pushes up on his board, then sails into land on top of a frothy wave. I have to try that.

As soon as he comes in for a break, I walk up to him.

"Hey," I say, putting on my most charming smile.

"Hi," he smiles back. I point to the board resting on the sand beside him.

"Say, you're good at that." He shrugs, pleased.

"Not that good."

"You wouldn't let me try it out, would you? Please?" I ask. He looks a little surprised.

"Ummm...sure. Just, you have to promise me you won't lose it, the tide can be..."

but I'm already gone, dragging the board over the water. I copy what I saw him do; paddle out, wait and push up. It's harder than it looks, but by the fourth time, I finally get it. I feel like some sort of ocean queen; the water carrying me smoothly, my arms outstretched, my hair blowing in all directions, and so many sounds bursting inside my ears.

I lose my balance as the wave starts to give out and tumble to the shore. Standing up, I see that the water has carried me next to that girl I saw earlier.

"Hi," I say.

"Hi," she whispers back. The others surround me quickly, lead by Pheonix and Jaihra, who had been having some sort of vigorous splashing war in the shallows.

"That was awesome Andromeda!"

"That was so cool!"

"When did you learn to do that?" I'm about to answer, "just now," but Jaihra interrupts me.

"You...have a magical aura!" She exclaims. For a second I'm not sure who she's talking to. Duh, I have a magical aura. I thought we all knew that. Then the girl next to me stands up.

"It's silver...what's up with that?" Jaihra questions. Silver magic? There's no such thing. Jaihra's probably mistaken. But still...could it possibly be true?

Jaihra nods emphatically towards me. Lyra shrugs, while Saphira looks wonderstruck. So she does have magic. On an apparently non-magic planet.

"Can I trust you?" She asks, her voice soft and low like the rush of wind. We talk for a few minutes but don't gain further information. Clearly, she doesn't trust us.

But I don't exactly trust her either. Yet. Suddenly, she extends her hands, and the water beneath them begins to glow silver.

"Whoa," Pheonix murmmers.

"It really is silver," Saphira says.

Before I can react, my byte beeps from beneath Dom's jacket. I lunge towards it and take it out of the cloth.

"It's Dom. He's in trouble. We have to get out of here—fast!"

*I wasn't sure who was talking in your post. Hope I got it right!
