Word limits

Does anyone else find word limits as irksome as I do? They're so annoying. My teacher's big on word limits. For instance, she informs me AFTER I turn in my eight-page narrative on Jamestown settling that she only wanted two and a half pages. So I had to cut out, what, five and a half pages. Aargh. This same teacher proceeds to give my twenty-page long thing on the Hopi Indians a C+. LOL! She asked us to write an informative children's book on an Indian tribe but was unclear about the length, although she did say that it should be suitable for a third grader. (We're entering sixth grade, hello.) So she gives me a C+ because she says I didn't follow guidelines. She pleasantly informed me that no third grader would understand the words I used (the most complicated word I used was "phlegmatic." Come on!). I refrained from telling her that when I was in third grade I could define "idiosyncrasy."

Okay, this is turning into a rant. I'm very sorry- this pertains in no way to anything. My point being, does anyone else despise word limits? Administrators, you can tone down my ramblings if need be. :/

Think from the teacher's point of view. She or he has to read tons of boring papers on Paul Revere's midnight ride and Sacagewea (spelling!). I would want to lessen my work load too. Mary W., you should go to another school. Your teacher should visit a psychologist for her mental problems.
