13 years ago the world was struck with a surge of tatanic earthquakes.
Japan was swallowed beneath the ocean's surface----taking two thirds of China along with it.
That was just one of the many casualties.
No one knew what had caused the tectonic playes to shift with such force. Till Months later- after a FedEx delivery plane crashlanded on a volcanic island on the pacific ocean.
An island that wasn't there before.
Germany was the first to send troops there-
They didn't come back.
Russia followed, but with the same conclusion.
America sent a team of the best scientists as well as a fleet of emergency back-up.
All that returned was a slip spattered with blood.

Pompeii will be habited.
Just as soon as it is scouted first.

So this is sorta my B-day thread, *toots horn* I'm 13!!!!!!! Woo hoo!!!!!
Anyway, I hereby oath, on my Guinea pig's life I will NOT let this thread die until it gets 300 comments.

There is NO limit on how many people may join though please only one charrie per person. Gracias.
Before I state the ship list heres a few rules.
1. No magic. This is the future so some techy stuff is allowed but no transfiguration or invisibility etc.
2. If you do not post for two weeks without explanation your charrie WILL get eaten or something.
3. No kid charries. sorry. All characters must be 17 or older.
4. All races are allowed!!!! Indian, African, greenlandian whatever :-)

OK, soooo....... I tried my best on this with the facts that I was given! Hope it's ok! If our charries do go on the island, maybe someone could give a brief description of it so I can do my best to write it? Thanks so much for having me back, you guys!
Oh, also, Jane, I was thinking. Maybe we could change Rose and Aaron's ages a bit to fit more? Like, maybe make them both around 19 or 20? I'd make Aaron older, but he really doesn't seem to be a full-blown adult yet. Of course, if you'd really rather not, than that's totally ok too!

I wake up, and my first conscious thought is how the ship isn't rocking back and forwards anymore. Part of me misses the sliding ground that swung the sputtering electric lights back and forwards on their cords, and that used to throw the new sailors and some of the other doctors off their feet.
But now there's just silence, and the throbbing in my head that makes my eyesight flicker and fade, bringing the dingy white ceiling in and out of focus. Part of me wants to sleep, to drift off into the infinite void of nothing that calls my name, but I fight the urge and make myself sit up. My vision swims dangerously, and I decide that I might as well sit down for a moment. As I lie there on the wrinkled, unwashed expedition sheets, I let my mind wander to the last thing I remember. I had given that girl.... Rose, I think her name was?..... a sample of the virus. Then, I remember going to care for one of the patients, and then the room began to sway (more than the usual motion of the ship, that is) and everything went black. I must have collapsed. How heroic of me.
I try to make myself get up, and find that some strength has returned to my legs. I stumble over to the door, and catch my appearance in a mirror. My hair has grown out of its usual crew cut, and is sticking up in blonde spikes every which way. My eyes look tired. I take a moment to rinse off, change into a t-shirt and jeans, and quickly run a comb through my hair. Much better.
When I open the door and walk down the hallway, I am caught off guard at how much effort it takes just to move. My legs feel as if they'll give out any second, and my breath comes out in short gasps. I throw open the door to the main deck and stumble out. Standing there, the sun lighting up her red hair, is Rose. She grins at me. "Aaron! How's life?" I collapse onto a nearby deck chair before responding. I clear my brain and make myself respond. "What? Oh, ummm, I was sick so...." I trail off, not really sure what to say. Concern lights up her bright green eyes. "Oh no! You were? With what? I just realize I haven't seen you in a while.". I nod slightly. "With the virus. I got it pretty much after I gave you that sample. What's going on right now? I was sick, and before that I spent all my time looking after people with the virus." She looks impressed. "You made it through the virus?!?! Man, you're cool.". I am? Rose fills me in on the rest of the events that I've missed, and I can feel my exhuasted brain reeling to catch up with everything she's saying. Then a timer beeps somewhere, and Rose says "And that is my cue to keep working on it. Talk to you later!" and she rushes away.
I just lie there for a while, absorbing the warm feeling of the sunlight on my skin. I haven't felt the touch of day for however long I've been out, and I'm perfectly content to just lie here for a moment. People start gathering for some sort of announcement and I join them, with new energy coursing through my limbs. Captain O'Harry steps up and begins speaking. As he talks, I ponder his words, and an idea forms in my mind. When he finishes with "We need to decide who will be going out. Any suggestions?" Rose and I step forwards at the same time and then glance at each other, embarassed. She gestures at me to speak first, and I nod at her in thanks. "Captain O'Harry, sir, you should send me. With all due respect, the rest of the crew is either needed on the ship or just recovering from the virus. I have a soldier's training, and can be up and on my feet in a matter of hours." This was not 100% true, of course, but the expedition needed me, and it was the most logical course of action. Rose spoke up beside me. "And I'm going with him. I have the cure for Pierre's snakebite, and am perfectly well and able.". The captain hesitated, seeming unwilling for a moment, but then the logic of this statement sunk in and he nodded slowly. "Very well. But...... be careful. We can not, I repeat, can not have any more members of the crew hurt or killed. Understood?" Rose and I nodded, and Captain O'Harry nodded back. "Very well. You are dismissed.".

Lol, I called the captain "Captain O'Henry" for the entire post, and had to go back and change it XD. Hope that works!
Luna says "uyxd". Yeah, uy. It does seem like this took a while.......
Oh, also, one more thing. Is there like some sort of monster that lives on the island that keeps killing people? Like, maybe it lives in the volcanoe and the shifting tectonic plates woke it up? Or maybe it IS the island? I dunno if you guys had talked 'bout that or not, but just wanted to throw some ideas out there. :)

I'll admit it, I like the fact that Rose is the oldest posting charrie. So how about she's 21 and he's 20?
Zeus and Alexandra, do you want your charries to go exploring? I feel like it's kind of unrealistic to just have 2 people go out.
We did talk about it a bit. Alexandra suggested the island have something special about it like some island from Moana. I've never seen Moana, so if someone could explain that would be nice.

I was thinking it would be cool if the island had pre-historic animals on it. Dinosaurs or whatever. (Not at all inspired by Jurassic Park. Nope. Not at all.)

Sorry! Well, there's this island in Moana with a cave, and in the cave there's this 'heart', which is basically a green rock with a symbol in it. And I think it was glowing, too. Anways, the cave with the rock was kind of the heart of the island, and in the movie, this person stole the heart, and the island couldn't survive without the heart. So, my point is, maybe there's a special cave or something in the island with something that keeps the island alive in it? I'm really bad at explaining... And, like Autumn Leaves said, if the island itself is the bad thing, then they could use that thing against the island?
