Daisy~

"Lissy! Don't play too near the cliff!"

Lissy waved to her mother but skipped away, toddling on young legs. Her short brown hair whipped around her face, cradling it, beckoning her towards a small rock.

She came to the rock and saw that a single daisy was growing from it. The daisy was beautiful, exotic to her young eyes, yet wrapped in a metal cage. Lissy frowned, pulling at the metal cage. It did not budge. Perhaps if she moved around the other side of the rock?...

"Stop!"

Lissy whirled to see a taller girl. "Don't go around, the cliff is back there!"

Lissy stared in awe at the girl. Her golden hair looked like it was made of sunlight. The tall girl had freckles and a small gap between her teeth.

Lissy looked around the girl and saw that the tall girl was right. Nervously, she backed away.

"Th-thank you miss!" Lissy gasped, dashing back to her mom.

The tall girl sighed and looked at the rock. It was her stone. They hadn't had a good stone carver all those years ago, so they planted a daisy there instead. Her name. Daisy.

Daisy looked over the peak. She wiped away a tear, seeing her own bones on the rocks below.

Before she vanished into the day, she repeated her vow: no child will ever make the same mistake I did.

Gared, Esthelle, AND Booksy Owly~

"Come on, Gared, you have to help us," Booksy Owly sighed to the man at the bar.

"No can deal without gold, sweetie," Gared grinned. The young wizard blushed.

Esthelle-who was she? The paladin? yeah, that's right-stepped forward. "We have 2,000 gold, but we need a thief-"

"They call themselves rogues," Booksy Owly whispered. Gared silently thanked her.

Esthelle sighed. "A rogue to pick the locks in the dungeon we're about to go into-"

"Deal."

Esthelle looked surprised. Gared winked at her, and she scowled.

Gared was a thief, alright. And a good one at that.

After a day's travel, they arrived at Crom-Cruac Dungeon, a rotted-out place full of spiders and servants of darkness. Gared's kind of dungeon.

Booksy lit up her staff, bathing the first room in light. No monsters yet.

Gared sometimes wished he had magic. Maybe girls like Esthelle would start to notice him.

They moved into the next room (after Gared picked the lock) with Booksy in front, Gared behind, and Esthelle in the back. Esthelle kept poking him with the tip of her sword. It was very unnecessary.

There was a scream from behind; Gared whirled, daggers raised. A Dire Spider was on top of Esthelle. She ran it through with her sword.

The room was swarming with them now; Booksy struck out with spells, Esthelle slashed, and Gared stabbed, panicked.

Gared looked up and saw it: the mother. A massive spider, making the ones that were attacking them. The ones attacking were about the size of cats. This one... about the size of a small dragon.

Gared threw his dagger, and....

~~~
"CRITICAL HIT!" Brookeira yelled.
Gared, Esthelle, and Booksy high-fived, upsetting a few of the scattered D&D Manuals.
Gared's brown mop swished over his eyes. He brushed it out again. Booksy, a short girl with short red hair, grinned at him, brown eyes sparkling, but he turned to Esthelle, a tall girl with golden-blonde hair and pale blue eyes.
"Great job! See ya next week, pals," Brookeira said, sea green eyes twinkling as she reset the board.
Gared lingered until the others were gone, slowly inching up to Brookeira. She looked surprised to see him. "Gared? What-"
"Er-em..."
"Spit it out, I have to go to dinner."
"How do you talk to girls?"
The Riddler and Tuxedo Kitten~
Riddle tied her hair in a slender ponytail, brushing it from her scarlet eyes. She watched the little girl as she played in the field, slowly inching closer as time wore on.
The little girl had dark hair and amber eyes. Riddle smirked and approached, grinning.
The little girl backed away. "Wh-who are you?"
"A friend!" Riddle laughed, "no one to be afraid of!"
"What do you want?"
"A game!"
The little girl smiled. "Oh, I like games! What game?"
"A riddle."
The little girl went white; there was only one person in the kingdom who asked riddles in the forest.
The little girl began to back away, hands raised. The Riddler scowled and raised her own hands, red magic flaring at the tips.
The little girl ran back to her home, crying.
~~~

The little girl woke up the next day under her covers. She seemed... smaller.

She crawled out from under her sheets on all fours, making a strange mewl with her hoarse throat. As she came into the room, she froze.

Everything was huge. Her skin felt itchy, but she was unable to scratch it.

Her mother came in the room. "Tabitha? Tab-oh!" The mother caught sight of her.

"What a sweet tuxedo kitten. I wonder where Tabitha is?" the mother said. The kitten mewled pitifully, crying tiny cat tears.

In the forest, miles away, Riddle laughed.

Thanks Brookiera! I wish I could really twirl swords around like that. ;)

Was the cyber world a reference to any particular game? The spiders reminded me of the Legend of Zelda.
