You never meant to move here. Beneath the facade of the bustling work city you live in, there lies a plague: a plague of crime. In the stone labyrinth that is Evernaught city, five vigilantes have risen up to take on the crime.
The vigilantes don't have superpowers, aren't even all perfect. They wear masks. They have code names. They fight crime. The similarities to superheroes stop there.
Seven people can join. The positions are:
5 vigilantes
2 main villains
RULES:
No superpowers under any circumstances.
No OPness or impossile tech (like invisibility cloaks, none of that).
Name: Willomena Zora Bartholomew
Name as a "superhero": Will o' Wisp

If you want someone to post so badly, why don't you just post?

She probably doesn't have the time. It's okay.
Lydia says prkz. There certainly are perks to the weekend. Besides extra homework.

@Cockleburr: In this particular case, my character is chained up and helpless, so I can't post, but I don't want this thread to die or anything.

Oh, sorry Zeus! I didn't know it was you!

We burst into the room in a cloud of thick smoke, thanks to Will. The scientists yell in surprise as we charge forward: I to the right, Skylock (or Zandi-something) to the left, and Will towards Icy, just as if we planned it ahead of time. Ahead of me, a white-coated figure appears out of the choking fog. They're knocked out on the floor before they can react.
Suddenly, a metal-wrenching groan sounds. And when I turn, Gem is stepping out of her cell through the twisted and crumpled 2 inch thick steel bars. I stare at her.
"What." she mutters. "Wasn't me" Will gives me a look that clearly says that now isn't the time to ask. I nod. Whatever just happened can wait until we're out of the supposedly-abandoned-but-not-really-labratory.
A few minutes later, after series of dead ends and endless corridors, Skylock is opting to go through the ceiling. "We'll never get out of here" she hisses in exasperation. "This place is a maze"
I'm about to agree with her when a familiar red light appears around a corner.
"Finally" Will sighs in relief. She starts to speed up. Until Gem stumbles and collapses on the floor. We all stop dead, and Will kneels down beside her.
"She'll be alright." she says after a moment. "All she needs is rest"
"And a break from near-death encounters." Adds Skylock, helping Gem up.
Will laughs at that. "For us, that means the same thing. Now let's go."
She starts out the door, half supporting Gem, with me and Skylock (really bad grammar here) behind. The lab quickly dissapears behind the dark buildings. After a few minutes, Will signals for a break. Gem immediately flops down. "Hope that antidote works soon" I mutter.
"Me too" Skylock says. "But she's tough." We watch as Will slowly stands up to stand against the wall.
"What exactly happened back there?" I ask suddenly, turning to Skylock. "What were those people doing?"
Skylock stiffens. "I don't know. That's what we're trying to find out. How did you know where to find her?"
"Lucky guess" I say. "But you knew who they were. And what happened to those bars?"
Her voice is suddenly cold. "I really don't know. We should get going" She moves away.
A second later, we're back to running, with no time for discussion. But I don't blame her or Will for not trusting me. I wouldn't trust myself if I suddenly appeared at just the right time to point just the right way to where someone I've never seen before is being held. But how can I explain that I almost knew that the lab was the place to go. Really lucky guess maybe?
We finally arrive opposite the buidling, a bit exhausted. But as Gem takes a step into the street, a car revs up and speeds towards us.
"Watch out!" I yell as we dive onto the ground. The car spins in a circle and roars away, barely missing us.
"Watch were you're going, idiots!" Skylock yells after them. Will gasps.
"They're gone!"
Skylock turns, eyes filled with shock. "They were in there!"
"Zan, you go after them, I'll try to fix Gem's leg." Will says. Skylock (or Zan) nods. She starts after them, while me and Will hurry up the steps wiht Gem. When a sudden shreik stops me just outside the broken door. A hawk swoops into the air, does an exhilerating loop and then speeds off in the direction of the car. I stare after it. Skylock?

I wince as Will o' Wisp wraps my leg up. Another person is with them, Dawnstreak aparantly. "So what happened?" Will says. I frown. "I was stupid," I say, grimancing a bit. "Someone knocked at the door, asked if I was an kid experiment, then they promised to find a family for me..." I trailed off and fought tears back. "I ended up getting a tranquilizer shoved into my arm." Dawnstreak looks a bit confused, and I remember that she doesn't know hardly anything about me as subject GAMMA. I sigh. "I wish all of this had never happened."

There is a pounding on the door, and the next moment the door is knocked in and the room flooded with men. I leap into a defensive position, my arm jolting agonizingly. Out of the corner of my eye I see Rex attempt to do some crazy ninja move and completely fail. But this time I'm not laughing. One of the men lifts up Rex and carries him outside. Wow, I think, they must be really strong.
Which is a problem because I, however much I try to hide it, am not very strong. I never got very tall, either, which has always been something of a setback as a villian - most of them were tall and strong.
I try to move around the men and run, but one grabs me and slams me to the ground. Black spots dance across my vision. "Now, little girl," the man says, his breath stinging my face, "we can do this the easy way, or we can do it the hard way. The easy way is where you come with me, and we get this over with. I doubt you'll find the harder option as attractive."
"I won't come with you," I hiss passionately. "I'm done being locked up."
"Fine," he says smiling. The last thing I see is a fist rushing towards my face, and then everything goes black.
~~~
I awake to a blinding pain in my head, and my arm in a sling. I try to sit up, but I'm stuck to a table by iron clasps. A man in a white lab coat is writing something on a clipboard. I look over to my left, and my heart leaps when I see Rex. He looks at me warningly, as if not to alert the scientist, but it's too late - the man walks over to us.
"Ah, I wondered when you would awake. Comfortable?"
I glare.
"I see. Do you have any idea why you are here? No? I thought so. How dissapointing. I suppose I'd better explain. Many years ago a group of scientists performed a series of experiments on a series of test subjects. They found ways to give them certain... powers, we'll say. Everything was going well, until three of them escaped. These three had gained a certain conciousness over their powers, giving them a new sort of intelligence that had allowed them to do what none of the other experiments could. When the government found out what we were doing, they shut us down and wiped their memories to that they would forget they ever had powers. Unfortunately the other twelve test subject's minds weren't strong enough to withstand this, and spent the rest of their lives handicapped and living in a mental hospital. But the three that survived were an unprecedented success, and now that they're rediscovering what they can do, we've decided to try it again. But this time you won't be able to escape - we'll have absolute control over your minds."
Have to go bye!
Zandibar~
I swiftly fly after the car, quickly catching up to them. Flying is conveniant. I soar over the car, hardly needing to flap my wings. Flying feels so natural! I've never done this before, but it's the easiest thing it the world! I scream with triumph again. I can't even remember the last time I felt so happy, so free.
Someone standing in the street points up at me. With my sharpened vision I can see a confused expression. I mentaly curse my new power. Hawks don't live in cities! Why couldn't I have turned into a pigion?
I bring my attention back to the car, pulling up to the lab. I swoop down, planning to go through an open window. Smack! I hit the window paine hard, falling to the ground. Dizzily I look up at the spinning world. Huh. There was glass there. I think confusedly. I guess it's true that birds can't tell glass from sky. I hear voices and the thud of boots on cement. Uh oh. They heard me hit the window. I scramble to my feet, but everything swoops around me strangly. I wobble forward and try to flap my wings and get off the ground. I can't stay here! Something grabs my shoulders, pinning my wings to my sides. I struggle franticly, but whatever it is holds on tight.
"Don't worry, birdy, I'm not gonna hurt you," he says in a deep, slow voice. I go limp, but when he relaxes his hands I launch myself into the air with a squack. Surprisingly, he chuckles.
"There you are, birdy, that's the spirit! Be careful now, birdy. No more flying into windows." He turns and walks into the lab. I sigh with relief. Then I realize that I have no way to get into the building. I soar to the window I just smashed into and land on the sill. Inside I see a table with Rex and Saana strapped down. A man stands in front of them, he appears to be talking. I can't get in that way.
I flap to the next window and the room inside is empty. How do I change back into a human? I could break the window and climb inside! I concentraite on thinking alpha alpha alpha over and over. Nothing. I picture myself as a human, as Zandi, as Skylock. I feel my legs stretch, my arms shrink, and when I open my eyes I can see feathers retracting into my skin. I shudder. It looks so weird.
I grab a brick lying on the sill and smash my way in.
