Here's my charrie:

Name: Hannah Hyland

Age: 17

Job/position: Battlefield nurse

Appearance: really short (about at her jawline) wavy black hair, bright green eyes, pale skin, kind skinny, short, always has a smile on her face

Personality: sweet, kind, quiet and fiercely loyal, is prepared to die for any of the soldiers she has or has not tended to

Background: Lived in the south until she was 15, then moved to the north after her father died fighting for the confederacy

Other: Hannah has an older brother, Jason, who is 20, and got wounded fighting for the Union, but he survived. This is what mad Hannah want to be a nurse

@Isabelle K.- Wouldn't it be dramatic if Travis and Hannah fell in love? Travis could get wounded, and Hannah treats him. Idk, just a thought. I'm a sucker for romance in stories. =P

Misty says droc. Draco? Like from Harry Potter?

Yeah, that's a good idea! I haven't done any romance stories, but that might make it more interesting.

Okay, here's the first post:

Travis~ I grew up on a farm in Connecticut, but my father grew up in Georgia. He and my mother moved north after they were married because my mother liked cooler weather and snow in the winter. Anyway, in 1861 when the war started after Fort Sumpter was fired upon, my father and mother started to argue frequently about the war. Father felt like he should side with the South where he grew up, but Mother was an abolitionist said he would be a traitor if he sided with the South.

We read in the newspapers about the battle of Bull Run in July, how the people in Washington came out to picnic and watch our soldiers show the rebels who was in charge. Of course, it didn't go that way at all. Our soldiers turned right around and made a beeline for Washington, and all the picnicers got a good scare.

After that, Father took his knapsack and a store of food and his toughest shoes, and told us he was off to join the Army of Northern Virginia with General Robert E. Lee.

"The war'll be over in a month," he said. "You'll see me before long."

He marched away.

The war didn't end in a month. It went on all summer, and while it went on I thought hard about joining the Union army. It was hard for us without father, and I thought if I brought him back things would get easier. I didn't tell my mother that I was planning to leave.

So i took my knapsack and a store of food and my toughest shoes and went into town to join the 14th CT Infantry. The recruiter looked me up and down carefully and asked me if I was over 18.

I wasn't but I said, "Yes, sir, I was born February 1844."

And then I was in the army and marching south to fight the rebels.
