St.Owl sat in a compartment by herself, reading a copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, trying to ignore the butterfiles flapping around in her stomach. Yet again, she pulled out the letter with the crumpled Hogwarts seal and read the acceptance letter fondly. A real, true, for-sure invitation to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!
She clutched it close to her chest and sighed, like some girls do with love letters. She pinched herself yet again, just to make absolutely positive she wasn't dreaming.
It hurt.
She wasn't dreaming.

"You've got to be kidding."
"I'm perfectly serious."
"I'm not doing this!"
"Oh, yes you are."
"It's idiotic! I'll get killed!"
"It's in your name. Now RIDE."
Dragonrider raised her arms to protest again when the dragon next to her blew out a path of flame and her sleeve caught alight.
"See?!" said Dragonrider, stomping on her sleeve to put the fire out. "It doesn't even like me! You're nuts!"
"It's blowing fire," said Somebody calmly, "as all dragons do, expecially baby ones. Pat it on the nose a bit, go on."
Dragonrider put out a hesitant hand. Inches before the dragon's nose, she paused. What if it blew fire again?
Before she could withdraw, however, the dragon suddenly shoved its head into Dragonrider's palm and started nuzzling it. Shocked, Dragonrider patted it slowly as the dragon gave what would have been (if it were human) a dopey grin.
"It likes you," said Somebody triumphantly. "Now, hop on that dragon and hotfoot it to this headquarters. St.Owl will show you the way."
"I told you I'm not very good at navigation-" St.Owl started to say, but Somebody brushed her off.
"Come on. We haven't got long. Dragonrider, get. on. the. dragon. Well? Hope to it! GET A MOVE ON!"
Dragonrider was pretty sure that Somebody's bellow would have woken up all of Hogwarts, but she hopped on the dragon. It kept smiling its dopey grin, and when Dragonrider hesitantly kicked its tick hide with her heels, it obediently spread its wings.
"Good luck," whispered Indigo as the dragon took flight. The smaller figure in front of it- St.Owl- whispered back, "Don't get caught."
The large group turned to leave.
"Wait," said Jonh slowly. "Did you... hear something?"

Shadowdancer and Phantom N. looked at each other in surprise. Silently, they started creeping against the wall of Hogwarts Castle, carefully but surely edging towards the slightly open doors of the Great Hall.
Crunch. Shadow's foot stepped on a very dry leaf. Phantom gave Shadowdancer such a hard stare that s/he (I'm going to call you both boys, I'm sorry, if you're female just let me know) felt like turning and running. He should have known that when the second year asked him if he had experience eavesdropping there would be trouble.
"Shh!" hissed Phantom unneccesarily. "Do you want the whole school to hear us? I say-"
But the rest of Phantom's whispered chiding was cut off by a masculine voice. "Did you... hear something?"
Shadowdancer paled.
"The trick here is to stay still," Phantom hissed, putting his back to the wall. He was very good at camophlauging, Shadow had to say. "Just try to melt into the wall."
Shadowdancer mimicked Phantom's position and felt a strange whooshing around him. Looking down, he couldn't see himself.
There was no time to announce he was invisible. The group had spread out.

St.Owl felt guilty.
All three in their party could tell they were going in circles. It was perfectly obvious; they kept passing the same landmarks. But she couldn't remember where to go! She'd been listening to the creatures' conversation, not watching where she was flying.
Finally, she remembered a part of the conversation the two Animagi had had. "West!"
"Huh?" Dragonrider said.
"We need to fly to the west! Dragon, do you know..."
Dragonrider's dragon immedeately changed course. After about thirty more minutes of flying (in which St.Owl took a five minute break on the dragon's back), she spotted it.
"There!" St.Owl called, pointing to a glimmering dome. They turned there and landed behind some trees to the left of the entrance.
"I can't go in, they'll recognize me," St.Owl said. "So do a bit of sneaking, a bit of spying, and good luck."
"Okay. Thanks."
