Castles are famed for their unknown parts. There's the Keep Secret, the refuge in the walls, the hidden passageways, and the parts that are accessible to everyone are hard enough to navigate! But, there are certain inhabitants of the castle that know almost everything about it. Who are they?

Did you say the king or queen? That is incorrect. They're too busy sitting on their thrones, solving the villagers' problems.

Did you say the prince of princess? Closer. Many get so bored that they go exploring, but they do not know as much as the answer to this question.

Did you say the servants? YES! In the old times, the rule was, servants' work is to be seen, not the servants themselves. Castle architects came up with the perfect solution- secret passageways!

These passageways not only have entrances in every room in the castle, they also lead to the other places, like the Keep Secret (an underground cave with boats that you can escape by), and the booby-trapped secret passageways that were decoys for enemy invaders.

Nowadays ((meaning not now, but when the RP takes place)), these are hardly needed anymore. But they're still useful. However, one foot out of line could mean an ugly, ugly demise.

And this is how the RP starts.

You can be the king, the queen, a prince or princess, a servant, whatever you want, you just have to live inside the castle. My long-term plan is to have a war take place and all the nooks and crannies have to be used, but my short-term plan is a bunch of young explorers who are in danger of a terrible death.

Will they be lucky... or not? You decide! All I want is for you to stay dedicated and on prompt. We can't have the people of the castle leave, because the main idea is the passages. We can't have a normal villager as a charrie, because they can't live in the castle. And above all, THE CASTLE CANNOT BE DESTROYED. Cannonballs can fall, but the general castle MUST STAY UP. Okay? Great!

Two last things: this is MEDIEVAL. And not fantasy medieval, either, so no fairies or talking storks or anything like that, please. This has to be realistic. (which, yes, does mean that our female characters need to wear dresses.) Also, in terms of charries, ONE, PLEASE. Not twins, not a married couple, but one. Also, when I say no more charries, NO MORE CHARRIES, at least until the war starts. When the war starts, you can be an enemy if you wish. You'll probably have to die, though.

Thanks for reading through the rules! Now, here's the charrie form and my charrie.

Name: Abilene

Age: 13

Personality: Sweet and shy. She's obedient and hardworking. Kind of quiet.

Backstory: Ehh... the fancy stuff always comes to me during the RP.

Job in the Castle: A maid. She keeps things clean as a pin!

Other: See Backstory.

Okay, Air. We can start.

New charries are still allowed, however!

Oh, and Buggy- I thought of a backstory for the sisters. Their mother is gravely ill, and they went away looking for work so they could buy medicine for her.

Abilene~
I wake up at the crack of dawn as a sliver of sun shines into my face. My bed is (unfortunately) positioned in the area that the sun's light first puts its fingers on, so I'm usually the first awake. Not that I much care.

I pad over to the window in my bare feet and just stare out, looking at the beautiful sunrise. I want to look at it every day, so that at some point every detail is carved into my mind. Such colors cannot ever be missed or forgotten.

As the rustle from other beds starts up, I slip away from the window and back to my little area, quickly brushing and putting up my hair. Like usual, I'm the first out the door.

Breakfast won't be ready for a while yet, so I decide to start my jobs early. The servants' wing is in the secret passage, after all, so all I have to do is take a right and a left and I'm on the path to the Tower.

The Tower is one of the oldest parts of the castle, and exceedingly beautiful. It's full of all kinds of historic artifacts and royal heirlooms. I'm always honored to be allowed to clean it; only the most trustworthly servants are allowed up there.

Of course, it's dangerous as well. Most people know that it holds the entrance to the Keep Secret, a passage that leads to an underground refuge. Because the castle is practically on an island, there are boats there, too, for a secret escape. Unfortunately, the enemy knows about this too, so the castle architects had to make a solution: booby-trapped tunnels that can lead to death. The servants aren't supposed to go there, but I like to in my spare time. I have a bunch of rocks that I throw to make sure everything is safe, and I map it out as I go along. So far I've missed a swinging club, arrows shooting from both directions, and an avalanche of rocks. It's actually quite interesting to find what traps await trespassers.

There's an entrance to a secret passage in every room, and they all have the same mark (including the Keep Secret and booby traps): ∏ ((Alt shift P)). This goes for inside the tunnels, too. Inside, it's always on a brick that you put your hand on, but outside, it could be anything: a brick, a frame, a hairbrush. They're always activated the same way: via hand.

I walk up some stairs and into the drafty room I know to hide the entrance to the first room. After many years of working, I know it by heart, and my hand automatically touches the stone...

Duchess Cassaranda~

l wake as the cold dawn sunbeams fall across my bed.  l sit up and watch the sun slowly rise above the city, the sky turning from grey, to pink, to orange.

Just another day. Another day for the king to order me around. Another day to have to listen to the complanits of the commoners.

Another day to deal with that perfect princess. l slowly brush my red hair, relucktant to start the day, then put on a green velvet  gown.

And lastly, l put on a silver circlet, the for my rank as a duchess. l walk across teh thick, red, carpet to the door.

On my way to the stairs l pass the princess, who gives me a "Good mourning, Duchess." before going on her way, perfect and pretty as ever.

How l dislike that girl, for all her perfection. "Pathitic."  l hiss after her. l don't care if she heard or not.

Surah-

i wake up to the sun shining on my bed. it is a little past dawn and all the other maids are asleep. i hurry to dress and and piull a brush through my hair. i have to hurry because i borrowed a spool of golden thread from the princess Ruby when i took up her supper last night. finished with my hair i slip out of the door and fast-walk up the stairs that lead to the upper leveles of the castil. i round the last corner befor the staircase and bump into someone. i curtsy and murmur an apology then look up to see who it is. it is just a guard. "where do you think you are going? " he asks.

" to the tower" i reply" he gives me a funny look. " well just be careful.A spool of Princess Ruby Liliaan finest gold thread has gone missing".

Panic shots through me. " do they suspect me?" apperently not for the guard lets me pass and contenues on his way. i hurry to the staircase not wanting to be stoped again. everything is the way i left it. i drop the thread in and shut the lid then i slowly stroll towords the kichens to start prepairing breakfast.

I wake up, as the bell tower strikes 7:30. Oh great, oh great, oh great. Dear me. I'm late again. All the other servants are out of bed. I quickly slip into my dress, and run towards the kitchen. I take a seacret passage to speed up my way. Suddenly, something hard hits my leg, and I trip. "Wait", I think."This passage isn't boobie trapped, is it?" I hear footsteps behind me. Oh dear. Millie, you are in deep, deep trouble.

"Millie? You're not supposed to be in here." I hear my sisters voice, and a sigh of relief whooshes through me. Thank goodness. Abeline won't tell, I know. Or at least hope.

"This passage is boobie trapped?" I ask, confused.

"No, that was a rock. From me." I glance at her, confused.

"Never mind that!" She snaps, if my sister can snap. "That's no excuse for you to be in the kitchen. Cooks furious. Yesterday, you didn't scald the dishcloth and you broke two plates, and now you're late. Go!" She waves me away, and I don't have to be asked twice. Who knows what punishments await me? Cook can be quite nasty when she's mad. I bite my lip, and hurry on. It's not like I've never been punnished before. I can survive it. Anyway, it's worth it.

Sorry St.Owl if I came across as impatient or annoying or bossy which I probably did now that I'm rereading my comments. I was just excited!

On to the RP!

Kestran~

I woke up early and was sitting fully dressed at the desk in my room, reading a book from the castle's extensive library, when a knock on my door and a familiar voice roused me.

"Kestran! Kestran! Are you awake? Come on, you said you'd take me to the gardens today!"

I open my door and my half-nephew Regin runs in and jumps onto my bed. "Kestran, Kestran!"

"Morning, Regin." Regin is one of the youngest members of the royal family who lives in the palace. His parents are the Baron and Baroness, advisors to the king. Regin was born in the castle and has never left it, and yet every day he thinks up someplace new for me to take him. "How's life?" I ask him this every day. Regin might be the youngest, but he's going to be a scholar someday for sure: he's always hearing news before I do, even though I talk regularly to most royals in the castle.

"Princess Ruby lost a spool of thread last night," he pipes up. I groan mentally. To Ruby, her thread is as precious as her treasure or her royal circlet.

"I just hope she finds it soon," I say. Regin nods like a bobblehead, frowning gravely. "Okay, now, we need to get some breakfast before we walk down to the gardens, so let's call a maid, okay? And then we can go."

I open my door ready to walk down to the kitchens when a maid runs by so fast she almost makes me fall over.

Mellie:

"Sorry! Oh, dear me, I appologise most sincerely. I did not see you! I do appologise!" Oh, dear. I'm in trouble. Forget knee-deep, it's chin-deep by now!

"It's, uh, quite alright," Keshan, the gentelman I just knocked over, replies. "I was, uh, looking for a maid anyway. I suppose you'll do. I would like some breakfast."

"Yes, sir!" I chime, and continue running towards the kitchen. I can feel his confused glance on my back, but I keep running.

Kestran~

The maid brings in breakfast. I thank her, nod, and press one coin into her hand as she leaves. Hopefully she won't be too flustered... that's happened.

Regin and I finish. I ring the bell to summon a maid to take away the trays, then take Regin's hand. He pulls me along through the castle and down a long, long flight of stairs in a tower to the gardens.

"We're in the main gardens," he says importantly. I smile at his mannerisms. "But I've found... a new way." He lowers his voice, dropping out of both his haughty acting and his usual hyper childlike speech. Regin seems conspiratorial as he leads me towards the garden's vine-covered wall.

"Regin... on the other side of that wall is the moat," I say, trying not to sound worried.

"Stop, Kestran. Look." He pulls me through a gap between two hedges. I try to place my boots carefully, for the ground is covered by several inches of groundcover here. Regin plunges his hands into the vines, feeling the wall.

"Regin, that's going to hurt your hands. The stone is sharp."

Regin doesn't respond, but then pulls away the vines.

Unnecessarily, he says, "This isn't the moat. It's a path."

Surah -

I arrive in the kicken just as cook sends another maid out. another maid stuffs a tray into my arms and tells me to take it to the Duke of Kelder. I run it over to his room and back and soon i am sent to the head housekeeper for work. she tells me to sweep the ballroom and shoves a broom in my genarel derection. the ballroom is huge. it's walls are inlaid with gold anfd the chadelear is inlaid with rubys. it takes me a good two hours to sweep the ballroom and when i am done i lean agenst the wall panting. suddenly i hear a grating noise and th wall beneath my arm gives way. the passige is long so i can't see the end but i can see it slopes downword. without a dought in my mind i run to the door of the ballroom and grab a torch from its sconce. then i enter the passige. then i hear a grating noise and the ballroom light dissapears. I'm traped!!there is nothing to do but walk forword so thats what i do. with a torch in one hand and my bromin th eother i walk.

after a good twenty minetes i hear a sound. fist it sounds like a low humming then it sounds like a gurgling then after rounding a bend i see a small stream. i follow it for five minutes then see sunshine and weathered stones instead of hard packed dirt. then i see a pool of water.then it dawns on me I'm in the castil well!i walk to the edge and look up.sure enough i am at the bttom of the well.

a little bit above me i see the rung of a ladder. i drop my torch and broom then jump i grab th erung and scramble up the stonework. i climb out and run to the kichens to receave my lunch and try to act as though nouthing has happend.

Abeline~
Besides having a general bell, each maid has a special, singular bell if royalty wants a specific maid- mostly these are used if the Head wants to tear our heads off.

My bell rings.

I follow it, using as many secret passageways that I know, and end up in the main room. With the King and Queen.

My face turns bright red and I drop into a courtsy. I was rude! Oh, no, I know I'm going to have my head chopped off now. Why else would they call me here? Royalty don't speak to maids.

"Rise," the Queen says, and I do, slowly. "You have been called here today for a matter of utmost importance. My daughter Gwenivierehas been robbed quite a lot recently, the newest being the loss of a spool of golden thread. I have noticed you spending time with her. Are you responsible for these actions?"

"No, Your Highness," I reply.

"Then what is the purpose of you two being together?" the king asks.

"We-we get along, Sire." Saying we are friends may be a bit much. I can hear the king mutter, "Frateranizing with servants! What next?" but I ingnore it.

"Very well," the Queen says. "You may leave."

I back out of the room slowly, head bowed, the dart into the nearest passageway as soon as I am out.

Leaning against the wall, I exhale deeply.

"I may just kill Millie..." I groan.

Duchess Cassaranda~

"The king wishes to see you." Says the servent, holding a out piece of paper. "It is important." Right. What does the king want now?

For weeks he had been ordering me about for nonesense. l think he just wants me out of the way for something. But what?

l follow the servent to the main room. l don't cursty to the king, l've had enough of this nonsense. He frowns on me. "Duchess, you have not been colleting the rightful amount of taxes. l have reason  to-"

"Nonsense! l have been-"

The king glares at me. "Disrespect. You have been disloyal to the crown for years. Now you pay. Guards, take her to the dungons."

He leans torward me, smugly. "Your execution is scheduled  for next week."
