Newborn City RP.

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Newborn City RP.

Newborn City RP.

Okay, I get that
there are lots of roleplays going on right now, and that there is already a
dystopian roleplay or two.  But, I have
been planning this for a while, and now it’s my birthday! :D So, here goes:

In the year 2028
the taxes rose. For ten years after they kept on rising. The taxes became too
much for the people. Then, in 2038 the government and the world made a
‘deal.’  Any new babies born and given to
the government would lower a family’s tax. Of course they had to oblige, or die
themselves. Now, there is Newborn City, founded in 2038. There is a section for
each year, each age. 2038: 17 year olds. 2039: 16. And so on. The babies are
collected on the anniversary of the decree.
That is our birthday; a day the world celebrates for the government’s
pleasure and morns in secret for our sake. Then we reached year 2055, the
latest, and last, newborns came in. Then the viper was released. It overgrew
the rest of the world. The earth was covered in jungle, people suffocated to
death by the man-killing plant. The world was gone, the only Exceptions
Washington DC and Newborn City.

We kids are force-fed propaganda,
completely under the government’s manipulation.
Literally fed. The food they give us has something…some poison that
makes us stupid. We only know what they teach. What they teach is our all. Not
once have we ever thought about the massive, dense jungle that surrounds us.
Except for a very select few. These few, if found out, are taken and punished. We
few have certain powers, the only ones who can stop this nonsense and overtake
the government.

Goal: To find the seed, what
started the man-eating plant, and destroy it.

By having a goal, I believe it may help the RP
not to die. If we accomplish the goal, we can either start again or be done. In
that time we may let another person or two join.

The powers are not something like
water or fire control. Something more like telekinesis or super hearing.

Here is the form:

Name: (2038 means 17, ect. The
youngest should be 2050)

I will do a quick thing from my charrie's art to get this rp started, okay? Also, Guys, I decided that Zmata won't be blind.

Zmata-

Darkness. Pitch darkness. I stiffen as I sense footsteps coming from the hallway. I tap the wall. A few people are coming, due to how the sound echoed off them. Ah. A field trip to gawk at me.

I hear gasps from the people as they see my bound form.

It's then that I stretch out my telekinesis fifty feet and send the guard and tour guide tumbling off the edge of my platform. I grab the keys with telekinesis before they fall and toss it to the kids.

"Please," I rasp, "get me out."

Jeni~

The rest of the field trip screams and runs. But I don't and neither does my friend Sakura. Sakura is different like me. She's blind but can hear things over a two-mile radius, but she controls it. If she wants to hear things only a foot away, she can. If she wants to hear things a mile away, she can do that too. Usually she uses a 50 foot radius.

I glance at the keys above me. Then I send out a mind tendril. It reaches out and plunges into the girl's mind. I see her name, Zmata. I see that she isn't lying.

"She's not lying," Sakura and I say at the same time. Then we laugh. Sakura can detect heartbeat and prove whether someone is lying.

"Well, let's do it!" I say.

"It'll get us in trouble, but so will the you-know what, so yeah!" Sakura replies as we scramble over the railing. I toss one of the two keys on the ring to Sakura, who hears it in the air and catches it. She then starts unlocking the locks on her left side, while I start on the ones on her right.

"How can you do that? Aren't you... blind?" Zmata asks.

"I can hear ambient sound bouncing off the locks. By the way, thanks for making my job easier," she tells her as she finishes the last lock. I finish the last on my side, too.

Zmata stands, as if she's unused to not being chained to the floor. She probably is, I think.

"I'm Jeniakiraseluua. Call me Jeni. That's my friend Sakura. And you're Zmata," I say.

Lemme explain Spike's powers a bit more. She takes the energy of others thoughts and memories, and stores it in her own. She can read those memories and thoughts, and if she gets enough, she can send a burst of thoughts into someone. Sometimes she gets overloaded, and breaks down and sends energy everywhere.

Spike~

I don't go to the field trip. They won't allow me. They know me.

They think I'll try to escape this horror house. What's the point? They are going to toture me, pull me apart from the inside if I try.

One of the oldest here. that I am. I watched people try to rebel, one who nearly did. Zmata. A kid who thinks that there is some hope. There is nothing but fear and hatred.

I narrow my eyes. Absoluetly bored. you know what? I'll follow the field trip. They are suppose to show them Zmata, and what happens when people... Don't follow the Rules. I quietly sneak over to them, keeping track of their thoughts. None of them know of me. Good...

We are finally there. I look around. A few other unknown people are captured, and the field guide tells them why the people are bound to the ground in prison cells.

A burst of some kind of... Energy. Telekenis. Kinda like mine except... My energy comes from memories, memories of others, thoughts of others... It's from Zmata. I look into her brain.

Good, they are fleeing. I need to get out.

I stay in the shadows. Two stay and help Zmata out.

"She's not lying." Both of them say at the same time, laughing. I frown. One is Jeni, the mind-reader, and another Sakura, the heart reader. They both bend down to unlock Zmata.

"How can you do that?... Aren't you... Blind?" Zmata asks, looking at them.

"I can hear ambient sound bouncing off the locks. By the way, thanks for making my job easier," Sakura replies, finishing off the lock. Zmata stands, wobbling slightly. Her eyes narrow.

"Someone else is here." She sends a burst of telekenis in my direction. I duck and roll into the light.

"The name is Spike, Zmata." I stand up, brushing dirt off my pants.

"Spike! H-how did you get here?" I hear a shiver in Sakura's voice. I can see why. I once killed a person when... When I got overloaded with memories... I chuckle.

"Afraid, eh? You should be. But I won't hurt you." I turn to Zmata. "Now, the only reason you escaped is because of these two. You know all three of you will be put in containment. No one should break the rules."

"Spike, you have lost all hope." Zmata says carefully. "But there is a chance of breaking through the government."

"Well, guess what? I tried. I tried so hard to escape this prison, this horror house. Failed." I look them in the eye. "And you won't succeed either."

My eyes light up.

"Awesome! It's Spike!" I yell.

"She once killed someone with thoughts!" Sakura cries.

"EXACTLY! Do you know how much POWER it takes to DO something like that? She's the ULTIMATE telepath!"

"Okay, fine. I suppose that four escapees are better than three. Also, we may want to run. I hear footsteps and tank treads. They'll be upon us any minute now." Sakura points to the left.

"I could handle them with telekinesis," Zmata offers.

"No. They're made of a material that specifically is anti-power. We have to move."

Spike sighs. "It's not going to--"

"MOVE!!" Sakura speaks with a ferocity unusual to her. We stop arguing and move.

We run through the corridors. Fast. Faster. Zmata drops a large rock over the path. But I don't notice the bend.

"AAAH!" I scream. My momentum will carry me forward over the side into goodness knows what. I'm dead meat. But then I feel something like a large hand clamping around my waist. It pulls me back onto solid ground. Zmata.

"Now we're even. Let's go!" she yells. We run out of the prisoner compound and back to where I live. But we don't go into the door. I speed into my tiny yard and open the tiny compartment on my tree. The rope ladder descends. "Climb!" I yell. We climb up the ladder. I pull it in just before they come. "Quick! In here!" I say to Zmata and Spike, lifting a floor panel. They climb in. Sakura and I follow. I replace the floor panel and say, "Light on."

A warm light fills the small room. Zmata and Spike gasp.

"Welcome," I say, smiling, "to my library."

Anya~

I watch the tv screen with boredom. Another brainwashing show.... I sigh and sit up on my couch. I picture what the outcome would be if i stoppped watching. Not good... I sigh and focus on the screen, suddenly it fizzes. It stops all together and the mayor appears, "Citizens of Newborn!" he begins, "there has been an escapee." A picture of some girl appears on the screen. "She has manipulated these two innocent citizens." A picture of them show up. "Any sightings of these people must be reported immediatly." I jump up from my chair and zoom out the door; I head toward the facility. A picture flashes in my mind of me being cornered by 'helpers.' I take a left, the image disappears. I enter the facility by a back door and head down where the last tour I went on was.

I arrive downstairs, there are four people, they stare at me. "Come on then. What are you waiting for?" I ask.

"Huh? Oh...sure..," the blind girl says. They start to follow me. I stop; an image flashes through my head. I take a left and disappear under the staircase. "Why are we going there?" another one asks.

"Shhh," I whisper.

Helpers come rushing down the stairs in pairs of two. The girl gasps. I slam my hand over her mouth with a silent motion.

Zmata-

One helper I don't recognize, the other-

oh, yes.

Treville Rocksford. He reeks of the chemical that drives me wild and makes me dangerous- whoops, I shouldn't have inhaled.

I step out of the shadows, smiling a crooked smile. The helpers stop. I knock one out and turn to Treville.

"Treville. Treeeeevvvviiiiilllllleeeeeee," I roll his name slowly over my tongue. He gawks and steps back, brandishing a heat ray.

"Oh, Trevvvvvyyyyy," I gasp hysterically, "you won't need that."

I knock it out of his hands and turn it on him, stopping him in his tracks.

"Oh, I won't kill you," I say, "but I will give you a scare."

I throw him out the window, just fast enough to jar him and scare him.

I snap awake. "I-I'm sorry guys-it's this chemical he has-" I say.

But I can tell. Now they don't trust me.

I jump out the window, levitating away, and run into the darkness of New City.

Spike~

My eyes narrow.

"She is gone. She might have helped." I sigh, holding my hands in the direction of the remaining Helpers.

"Now, this is gonna hurt, Helpies..." I close my eyes and look into their memories.

Laughter, then silence. Nothing... No memories? Someone stole them. Look deeper, push your way through the barrier... Bingo. Now, take it... NOW!

I take the energy, pushing it into a circle of redness, firing it both ways. Shoving my foot down, I send a ripple of the thoughts toward the last one.

"Now," I brush my pants, "where should we go?"

"This way." Anya leads us toward the left exit. We follow quietly. Another turn, then...

"I don't know where to go..." Anya whispers. "Something is wrong..." She falls onto the ground. I rush toward her.

"You okay?" I ask.

"There is one option... None else..." I look around.

We are in a giant lab, and no one is here... Suddenly a man comes from the shadows.

"The escapees. What a surprise." He smiles. Crooked teeth. "I think you may know me as... The Mayor."
