Everlasting RP!

Chatterbox: Inkwell

Everlasting RP!

Everlasting RP!

So here is what I propose: all who join this RP work together to keep it alive for as long as possible! Really! Let's try to break the record!

I shall not be as presumptuous as to suggest that whatever subject I come up with is the one everyone wishes to keep alive, so, this is the system I think we should use:

First, we vote for genres -- Steampunk, Fantasy, etc., and after one is voted the most popular, we all submit plot ideas, and vote for those, and whichever one we voted to the top, we follow, and after that, we make characters. (Of which you can have three.)

And here's where it gets a bit more interesting; while we all will try to keep it going as long as we can, if it hopelessly dies, we will (DUN DUN DUN!) switch to the second-best-voted genre, and try and use our same characters (with minor adjustments, like if one character is a tech genius in the sci-fi part of the RP, they are and inventor or something in a Medieval part.)

Sound good?

Oh yeah, I don't know if I have to say this, but you vote by saying something like '1 vote for Apocalyptic!'. You only get one vote, but you can change your mind, so long as we haven't started deciding on plot lines yet.

Here are the genres that are up for vote; (I'm just putting up what I think of. You can add more if you think of more.);

Sci-fi

Steampunk

Apocalyptic

Post-Apocalyptic (Hey! They're different!)

Future

Dystopian

Fantasy

Magic-realism (Elements of magic but everything else is real.)

Mythology

Mystery

Realistic fiction

Western

Detective (kinda like mystery)

Adventure/quest

Horror

Ghost story

(I'm going to wait and think about it before I vote. So many choices . . . . )

Sorry Lyra, Callie, the voting period has ended! (though now we begin voting for plot ideas, and you can vote for that, if you want!)
So here are the rules for voting on and submitting plot ideas;
1. You can submit a maximum of two ideas per person, but please number them so that we can vote by name and number.
2. You do not have to submit a plot idea to vote, and you don't have to do either to create a character and write in the RP. You can just see how it turns out, and decide if you want to join.
3. Again, you only have one vote, so choose wisely!
4. You can't vote for your own idea. (This may seem unfair at first, I know, but think about it; if you could,  then everyone will just vote for their own submissions, and pretty much everything will just have one vote.)
5. The deadline for submitting a plot idea is 5:00 PM tomorrow (Thursday April 16). If you vote for an item before then, most likely it will never be seen, as I will not be counting. You may vote from 5:00 PM tomorrow to 5:00 PM the next day (Friday April 17), and after that we START! Yippee! =)
6. As I said in the main post, you can have up to three characters, but you by no means have to have more than one. It's up to personal preference. =)
7. People can join all the way through! While it may be hectic on some threads, the goal of this RP is to have it going on for as long as possible! Also, if the RP has fallen ill (begins to slowly fade away), please post, even if you were the one that posted last.
8. In your plot ideas please include a premise, a setting, and  . . .  well, a plot. You do not have to use a form.
Here are my ideas!
1. Each person has a Fairy Godmother or Father. These Godparents have the ability to bestow upon their Godchildren special powers or abilities- or change their physical shape or features. However, Fairy Godmothers and Fathers differ just like humans. Some are good, some are evil . . . some are . . . in-between.
Some Godparents steal from their Godchildren or borrow money and don't pay them back. Some lie and spread rumors about them. Some give powers or physical features that are not always welcome . . . or in good spirit.
In this story the Godchildren are caught in a power struggle for positions of influence in the society that we create. These positions are the Fantasy world's equivalent  to duke, dutchess, baron, king or chief etc.  Some Godchildren want to be a force for good in their society. Some just want power. Some Godparents may lie and cheat to have their Godchild win, some may be righteous and fair.
Since you are allowed three characters for this story, you will be able to give the perspectives from a Godchild, Godparent, and an outsider, wether a parent, sibling, friend, etc., and provide a rounded view of the situation.
___________________________________________
2. In this world your three (or less) characters are on a prison-island. A few of these characters were unjustly imprisoned, but many deserve to be there. This is not just a story about heroes and good guys.
They are racing to get to a small enchanted ship that they have heard of-- though no one knows if it exists. Nobody has actually seen this ship, but stories say that it can only carry two people. This ship is also said to be the only escape from the prison island.
Here's the thing; this is a prison for people with magical powers. The island is under an unbreakable spell that limits the characters' powers so severely that they're almost silly. Like if you have the power of conjuring flame, you can only conjure one as large as a gas stove would. Or if you can freeze something, it can't be bigger than an apple. (These are just examples.)
These stories are about the struggles the characters have to face becoming accustomed to their new limitations; not about being all-powerful and winning everything. I would say outright winning at everything is too easy, we're going for struggle here. Sometimes comical, sometimes infuriating.
This is set in a medieval-type setting. So, no cellphones, etc.
If you use more than one character for this, they should be on very noticeably different levels as far as good/evil.
__________
The goal of these Rps is not to 'win'! This is an Everlasting RP. If someone just wins, then it ends! If someone ever does win, it should be a twist of the plot, not the high point in any way. Like the ship in the last idea crashes, or the chief-hood in the first one turns out to be a sham.
Let's try and make it about strong writers, not strong characters. Triumphs should be few and far between, something worthy of celebration.  Make the story about everyday life, challenges and defeats.

Alias, as always, I post comments asap. However, I have another commitment for most all Friday morning and maybe into the afternoon. I'm not sure if another Admin will have time to post or not. So please be patient, maybe consider extending your deadline.

Admin,

Sorry, I did not mean to come across as impatient, I was just afraid that too many days of the voting process would cause people to become bored with the whole thing before we really get started. How about a 48 hour plot submission period, and then a 48 hour voting period. Will that work?

Whatever you think best. I leave it to you. I think it may take people a while to read the plot summaries and decide. 48 hours for both would probably be better, give people the weekend to vote.

The prison island sounds like my dystopian. I vote for the Godmother/Godfather one.

Another idea:

We are all either a) Elves or b) Fairies. There is a war in our lands. The elf races are:

Frost elves. Typically peaceful. They are the most powerful and are either druids, clerics, bards, or, rarely, fighters. They are all very wise and intelligent.

Sun elves. Typically war-like. They are fighters and rogues, sometimes barbarians. They are very war-like, athletic, and barbaric.

Wood elves. These are diverse in personality. They can be druids, fighters, rogues, clerics, and bards.

The fairy races are:

Titania's court: They are kind. Titania is powerful and kind, but also very tough. They use plant and sunlight magic.

Oberon's court: They are cruel. Oberon is powerful, but not as powerful as Titania. His liuetenant Puck makes up for it. Oberon is cruel, serious, and cunning. Puck is mischievious and, though he just looks like a dirty woodland sprite, is very dangerous.

If we combine Brookeria's and the God/Mother/Father/Children one that'd be AWESOME!

If so, I vote for that. If not, Godmother/Father/Children!

However, I would like to congratulate everyone on the plot ideas. Wow!

1. In a world of dragons, unicorns, and other strange creatures, there are hybrids. These hybrids have creature and human blood. The king wants these hybrids killed, as he thinks that the hybrids are evil. You are a hybrid, trying to survive and stop the king, or a knight, helping the king stop the hybrids.

2. People found sacred objects, that curse them or help them. These people must find the Trutquài, a small statue that turns a living thing into it's true form. However, these evil creatures called Requti(Not plural form: Renquta) want the sacred objects so they can be more powerful. This is the world of elves, dwarves, and other human-like creatures (So that means the character can be any human like race you like!)

If we make our character die, can we make a new one?

Or are we not allowed to kill our characters?

brainstorming here:

IDEA ONE:

I think we should be a bunch of misfit, magical kids in the real world. Bu then we are transported to the land of our origin through some magical portal (maybe a book or a painting or a hole in the ground). There, we find an evil magic army (or just one really powerful person) trying to destroy the world...and us! WE must fight for what is right. Meanwhile....some of us have some shocking, dirty, and and dark secrets...

in the magical world, there are magic people and lots of Spirits, fire spirits, water spirits, love spirits...

some of us may have relatives there

there are millions of magical creatures

there is a dark castle in the core of the earth of the magic world

there is a magic good castle flotaing in the skywhere we hang out (sorta our home)

but before that evil invasion part....

we go to sort of a magic training school

but just because were in trainging doesnt mean there's no danger . . .

we can all have some sort of pet (unless you don't want one)

Idea # 1

In this world, there are 4 sub-worlds: Fire, Sky, Earth, Water. Humans live in the Earth Sub-world, but the Earth Sub-world has been hit by an asteriod and is crumbling to dust. Your characters have a choice: try to survive in the crumbling Earth sub-world or go one of the three other sub-worlds. It may seem that the obvious choice is to go to one of the sub worlds, but beware, for each subworld has it's own dangers and it's creatures are hostile and much more powerful than humans.

SKY

Sky creatures are winged creatures or birds. Some creatures are birds of prey, some are harpies, some are pegasuses. The most dominat creature is the pegusus. The sky world is an archepeligo of floating islands where little grows. The sky creatures are the most intellegent creatures.

WATER

Water creatures have gills and fins and other such things. Some creatures are gaint squids, gaint sting rays, sharks, and a kind of huge jellyfish called a Kone that can live for a few thousand years and has a bell about as tall as a one story-house. (Fun fact: the oldest Kone is 5 thousand years old.) Kones are the domant creatures. The water creatures live in an occean that is accessed through a cave in the sea. The water creatures are the oldest creatures; they know all the secrets of time.

FIRE

The fire creatures are mainly predators and many have some special relation to heat, fire, or lightning. Some creatures are Shyons (dragon-like creatures that breathe fire but can't fly), Ko (long snake-like creatures that live in lava) tyon (big tigers). The domant creature is Shyons. The fire creatures live inside Fire Mountain, which is a huge hollow volcano.

EARTH

The earth creatures are only the most hardy creatures. Some creatures are humans, horses, wolves, and jii. Jii are small goat-like creatures that can lift eight times their weight. The domant creature is humans. The earth creatures live on the Island, a big chunk of land. The earth creatures are the creatures with the most stamina. You try to knock them down, they come right back up.

Please note: no powers for humans, but they can run longer and they are harder to kill than real-life humans because of the bit about stamina.

Well, if you were from a different world then you wouldn't be human. Like if you were from Fire you would be a dragon and if you were from Sky you would be a pegasus, but sure.

Yay, fantasy was my second choice! I vote for the Godfather/mother idea!

Here's my own suggestion - we're all weather-controllers (sunshine, rain, snow, hail, sleet, fog, storm, etc.) who live in the clouds and bring weather to Earth. I haven't worked out the entire plot, but maybe a war between two sides suddenly breaks out, or something like that.
