Chatterbox: Inkwell

Time Travel RP!

Time Travel RP!

So this is Part 2 of our "I was thinking..." thread (http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/108646) . True and I have been keeping it up for an entire year (yes, we litterally made the final post exactly one year later!). We've loved doing, and have decided to make a Part 2! This is for new people who want to join!

The idea is that you make a character that is related to someone famous in history, but that person can't be an actor, actress, singer, etc. For example, here's my character:

Dehlia Ludington.

Related to a heroine of the American Revolution: Sybil Ludington.

Lives in Fredericksburg NY, 1777

Suddenly transported to the 21st century.

Age: 14

Short length blonde hair, blue-gray eyes, exactly 5 feet, rather pale.

Personality: Quiet most of the time, yet speaks out passionately when its something she cares about, strong, dependable, loving.

And here's True's (I hope you don't mind my putting you character as an example):

Name: Doralynn Barton

Age: 12

Related to: Clara Barton

Lives: Maryland, at her Aunt Clara's house

Appearence: Curly Black hair, light skin. Is short. About 5'

Personality: Is kind to all animals. Is a nurse to animals. A tomboy.

The story line so far is that we just saved the world in the future thanks to "time tears". They're a liquid substance that allows time traveling. Well, we've all returned to our respective times. But we discovered the original way we showed up was we each had a time-tear-infused object. For Dehlia, it was a book. For Dora, it was a handkerchief. The characters still have these items, and we were thinking of starting another adventure! So this is open for anyone else to join!

~Diana~

Diana blinked. The sky was blue. That was different. It was supposed to begreen and brown and grey. Diana looked around. The air was clear and unpoluted. Still there was an awful smell; like sea water. Diana shook her head and gulped. Her surrounding had to be fake. She couldn't have gone from the streets of New York to a boat. A real boat... out in the middle of the ocean! She spun around and stopped again. In only a minute the rocking motion got to her and she raced to the side to throw up. She turned around once more and to girls caught her eye. Their outfits stood out. She began to head towards them and realized how out of place her clothes were. She snuck back to the edge and tried to go unnoticed. The two girls headed towards her, but they weren't looking at her. She decided to take a chance and as they got close she stepped in front of them.

"Who are you? Where are we? How did I get here? Is this some sort of hologram?"

The girls stopped in surprise. One of them stepped forward to speak.

"I'm Dora and this is Dehlia. We seem to be on the Mayflower. I'm not quite sure how you got here. I'm a bit confused myself. I don't really know what a hologram is, but this is real if that is what you are asking."

Diana felt dizzy and threw up over the rail again. She wasn't scared. This was something exciting and new. Unfortunately Diana got seasick extremely easily. She sat down at the rail, gave the girls an adventurous sort of smirk and clutched her stomach. That's when the other little girl tumbled from the sky and onto her lap.

~Zoe~

Zoe shreiked as she landed on the lap of a stranger. She was on a boat. She stood up looked around and fled the scene. Strangers surrounded her, but having grown up in Italy roaming the streets, she didn't mind. What she did mind was the fact that she had no idea where she was. She ran around until she saw a boy her age. He was dressed in rags and she realized how silly and out of place she looked. She tapped his shoulder and begged to know where she was.

"You're on the Mayflower of course. Now move away from me. It seems there has been an outbreak of amnesia!"

He chuckled and ran away through the crowd. Zoe ran after him only to found sshe gon around the whole deck and was now right back where she had started with the three girls.

Gah! I've been meanin' to write forever!

Dehlia ~

My head was spinning slightly. I'd been excited to see Dora, but aside from a jolt of familiarity, I couldn't remember where I'd met her. Then two more girls showed up, also evidently not from this time.

"Okay, calm down," I said to the girl who had fallen from the sky. I rubbed my temples, trying to think. I sighed.

"My name is Dehlia Luddington. This is Dora," I said, nodding at Dora.

"I'm Diana," the teenage girl said, looking queasy.

"And I'm Zoe," said the other, still looking startled.

"Pleasure," I said with a nod to both. I took a deep breath, brushing hair away from my face. "I assume no one here is actually from here, and no one knows how we got here, or how to get back?"

Everyone shook their heads.

"Land ho!" Came a cry from above, jarring all of us out of our reveries. Passengers hurried toward the front of the ship, clamoring for a view of the New World.

"We'll land in Plymouth," Dora said quietly as we all leaned against the rail to get a look at where we would land. A flood of exhilaration filled me. These were the people who had fled the country we were now at war with to escape religious persecution. And now we were fighting for permanent and real independence.

"What do we do once we arrive?" Hissed Diana, waving us away from the crowd. We slipped back, hiding behind a stack of boxes.

"Once we arrive, and people start going ashore, they're going to know we don't belong here!"

**********************************************************************

So, what are we going to do?

All right . . . let's see now . . .I guess I'll just force something out . . .

~Dora~

I looked Zoe and Diana over. One was definitely older than Dehlia, and the other looked a few years younger than me.

"Have you heard of this ship? The Mayflower?" Dehlia asked them as we crouched behind the boxes.

Zoe shook her head, her blue eyes wide, but Diana nodded, solemnly, looking around herself. "That was a long time ago," she murmured to herself, "and I'm standing here. No way. I have to go. I'm going to miss my hover-bus."

I reached my arm out, and stopped her from standing up. "Diana, look around you," I said. "Believe it or not, this is the Mayflower. You have to control yourself, and not jump into the waves or something." Still looking worried, Diana sat down, then popped up again, rushing for the rail.

The three of us sitting down jumped up, and were about to run and pull her away, when Diana turned back, a sick look on her face, which she tried to wipe off. We sat down behind the boxes again, and turned our attention to the youngest.

"You haven't heard of the Mayflower?" Dehila asked her, curiously.

Zoe shook her head. "What is it?" she asked.

"The Mayflower took people from England to America, a new land, so that they could pray to God the way that they wanted to," I explained. "They took off around . . . 1620, I think."

Zoe's eyes grew big, and her mouth dropped open. "1620?!" she finally gasped. "So far!"

Diana looked at her quizzically. "What year are you from?" she asked.

"1508," Zoe answered. "More than a hundred years from now, if this isn't all a joke."

"I don't think that it is," I said. "I'm from 1883," I added.

"1777," Dehlia said.

"2137," Diana added.

"So, three of us from after, and one of us from before," Dehlia mused.

"Didn't they send the men out first, and then the women and children would come later?" I murmured, softly.

"Yes, but they had to sail south for a few days," Diana reminded us. "And even if we could stay on the ship, someone is bound to notice us."

We stared at each other. What were we to do?

Gah, top indeed! Well, to give this direction, since no one else has written, what should happen, True? It just hit me that I have no idea what should happen next. I have just two general ideas. One, that we find a way to time travel again, or two, we disembark and see what we write from on land. Thoughts?

Tovah, Moss, anyone else, you guys can add ideas, too!

I think we can disembark, perhaps by swimming?  Then, we can see what we find?

Yeah, that could work! We'll just have to be sure no one sees. *coughsalemwitchtrialscough*
