Chatterbox: Inkwell

Time Travel RP!

Time Travel RP!

So this is Part 2 of our "I was thinking..." thread (http://www.cricketmagkids.com/chatterbox/inkwell/node/108646) . True and I have been keeping it up for an entire year (yes, we litterally made the final post exactly one year later!). We've loved doing, and have decided to make a Part 2! This is for new people who want to join!

The idea is that you make a character that is related to someone famous in history, but that person can't be an actor, actress, singer, etc. For example, here's my character:

Dehlia Ludington.

Related to a heroine of the American Revolution: Sybil Ludington.

Lives in Fredericksburg NY, 1777

Suddenly transported to the 21st century.

Age: 14

Short length blonde hair, blue-gray eyes, exactly 5 feet, rather pale.

Personality: Quiet most of the time, yet speaks out passionately when its something she cares about, strong, dependable, loving.

And here's True's (I hope you don't mind my putting you character as an example):

Name: Doralynn Barton

Age: 12

Related to: Clara Barton

Lives: Maryland, at her Aunt Clara's house

Appearence: Curly Black hair, light skin. Is short. About 5'

Personality: Is kind to all animals. Is a nurse to animals. A tomboy.

The story line so far is that we just saved the world in the future thanks to "time tears". They're a liquid substance that allows time traveling. Well, we've all returned to our respective times. But we discovered the original way we showed up was we each had a time-tear-infused object. For Dehlia, it was a book. For Dora, it was a handkerchief. The characters still have these items, and we were thinking of starting another adventure! So this is open for anyone else to join!

Jesse ~

I saw that they did not notice her. I sighed. What am I suppose to do? I hid behind a building, watching the girls. I thought about all this time travel stuff.  It just didn't make sense. i thought time travel wasn't real... It is only in books. She then saw two girls poof into the air. One was a union soilder (though she was a girl) and another small girl. I tried to come closer, but I tripped and fell face flat on the ground.

The other kids stared at me. I grew red with embarrassment. "Err... Hello?" Everyone stared more at me. I was truly embarrassed. This was not going to help me one bit. "Who are you?" asked one of them. I replied with a rather quiet squeak, "I am Jesse, confused of all this time travel stuff and not knowing a clue where I am."

~Meredith~

My mind is whirling like a twister over Kansas. 1466? Did she really mean 1466?! As in the age of knights and nobles and all those miscellaneous saints? And then again, these thatched wooden houses and shops with no words on the signs and that stone thing that may or may not have been a castle do seem to fit the period. Even now, the blonde girl- Dehlia, I think her name was- who blew my mind apart better than a rebel cannonball ever could is agreeing to help that old man who is looking mighty close to mad. I try to ask someone, anyone, what is going on, when suddenly my head starts to spin again, and my shoulder feels like it's been shot again. I sink to my knees in the cobbled street, spots exploding across my vision, and two girls run over to ease me into a sitting position. One of them, the one who understood me and called herself Dora, helps me detach my canteen from my belt and take a few sips. The other one, the strangest one whose name I unfortunately forget, says urgently, "Zoe! Quick! How much was she bleeding when you first noticed her?" Or it might have been "Chloe! Quince! Cow guts; are sheep leading hens, you first potash dirt?" I can't quite tell, given my present condition!

Zoe stammers, "I-I don't know. A l-lot? From her shoulder r-right there?" I could swear her eyes are as big and white as Momma's finest china saucers. Momma! And Papa! Here I am, trapped in 1466 and wounded by a Confederate bullet, with only a nurse's niece and six other girls for help. Will I ever get home? Will I ever see them again? I hear a sharp intake of breath from behind me. I look to my right and almost pass out again; the strange girl in silver-white trousers has removed Zoe's makeshift bandage, and the wound looks horrible! It's caked with dried blood, and the flesh around it is angry red. A little black hole is still oozing blood. I reckon that must be where the bullet went in.

"Yes, Zoe, I'd say 'a lot.' Would you mind sparing some more of your apron?" It's that girl who isn't Dora again. But her name sounded somewhat like...? Diana! Finally I remember! I hear the rrrip of linen tearing. "That'll be great. Thanks." The next few minutes are a blur of sound that I can barely discern a progression of events from: The distinctive noise of my canteen cap being opened. A little bit of running water. Dora and Diana talking in low voices. Someone rummaging through a bag. The rustle of leaves and fabric. Through it all, I am aware of the others' worried stares, including the old madman who seems to have forgotten his son for the moment. Then the bandage is back on my arm, tighter and wet this time. When I look over, I see the edges of some herbs peeking out from underneath it. I relax a little bit, noticing the jagged edges of marigold leaves. I've gotten treatments like this often enough in my rough-and-tumble childhood, when I got a skinned knee falling off a horse or scratches while running through the blackberry patch. Diana inspects the dressing critically. "Well, it's not perfect, but it'll have to do until we can get that bullet out somehow." I see Zoe sigh with relief, and mop sweat off her brow. I'm going to make it.

My CHARACTER!!

Name: Heun Rhee

Age: 12

Related to: Syngman Rhee (First president of South Korea. He is her Father)

Physical Description: Tall, thin. Long black ringlets which come down to her waist, with streight bangs. Olive skin, Dark brown eyes, Asian shaped. (she's South Korean!)

Personality: Shy and kind, gifted artist. she is the best friend anybody could hope for, but when someone is mean to her and she gets sad, she is so innocent and pitiful looking that they  just HAVE to apolagize.

She is from: 1948, Seoul, South Korea

Name is said: Hey-oon Reeeee

~Heun~

I cowered in my seat, the whole class's attention on me. The teacher towered over me with her stick (which she most enjoied using for whacking students on the head) in hand.

"Heun Rhee, I'm warning you, tell me everything you know about historical London. RIGHT. NOW. NOW!" My English teacher raised her stick, ready to give my head a whack. My thoughts were reeling, grasping in vain the empty space where all those English History studies had stored themselvs...

"NO!!" I shreiked, my long thin hand grabbing the stick just before impact.

Suddenly, the classroom started spinning, -and gaining speed- leaving only my flying hair, the teache, and her stick, still clutched in my hand, focused. The teacher went wide-eyed. I would have too, but I was perelyzed. Teacher yelled and let go, as if the stick had turned red-hot. The world was now a blur, articles from my past jumping out at me. Suddenly the world stopped spinning, and I was straining against a force pushing nown on the stick, hard. The scary man was coming in for the kill... or at least a crushing whack on the head.

"HEUN!" The voice from my left startled me. I started to become weaker... Untill  Dora tackled me. We rolled safely behind some large chunks of rock in the little allyway. Dora stared down at me, panting.

"Woah. Rewind. Who in the world are YOU?!"

Oooooooookay, we now have an Asian in the mix. And Cappie says "pywo," which leads me to believe that Cappie is a pyromaniac on some kind of a baby talk craze.

*cough* What's wrong with an Asian?

@ Little Sister, I really like Heun! So many basic times have been taken already, some of us have overlapped times (nothing bad about that, I just enjoy a bit of variety). I like the idea of taking the east side of the world for your character!

To the all of you, wow! The RP hasn't gone this fast since last year when we had L, SC, and Tovah along with BHR and me to write. I'll try to write soon, but please be patient.

Asteroid Jobs

lives on a planet called Rex....... in the distant future. She is the great great great great great granddaughter of Steve Jobs. There are about a million more greats I should add to that...... :P

She crash landed on earth in the 21st century, in an attempt to warn these ppl that the planet is doomed.

BTW what is the current plot?

Please tell meh!

The plot is that after having time traveled before and having some adventures (see BHR's Part 1 link at the top of the page), Dora (True) and Dehlia (BHR) and a couple others met on the Mayflower, right before it reached land. They jumped ship so the colonists wouldn't ask questions, swam to shore, and spent the night there. In the morning, three Indians showed up and took all the characters to their village, where a wise woman (who spoke perfect English for some reason) told them some about time travel, the fact that they were all Guardians of time, and that they were traveling out already against their will. Sure enough, all ended up in an alleyway in 1466- save Zoe (Tovah), who soon rejoined the group with Meredith (me). An old man, slightly neurotic, claims to have invented a time machine, but made his only son disappear in time by accident. Just after Dehlia agrees to help, Meredith nearly passes out due to loss of blood from a wound in her shoulder, Dora and Diana (also Tovah) help re-dress it since Zoe did a clumsy job on the battlefield they were on, and Jesse Tesla (Danielle P.) shows up. Then Dora hears a noise in the next street, goes to investigate, and meets Heun (Little Sister)...whereupon they are promptly captured by an unknown man.

That's the plot, the way I can fathom it. Little Sister had a few misconceptions when she wrote, but I think that's cleared up. I'll write from Meredith's POV soon, but it may be in a week or so...going away again. And Cappie says "gohy." I already "went high;" I did a lot of rock climbing at camp!

@True: Thank you! Heun is partly based off my best friend, who is one of the BEST PEOPLE EVER. I also saw everybody else was American or European, so I decided Asia needed a little representation. Thanks again!

@Brooke E.: Good Idea!

~Heun~

Dora had just finished explaining herself and the Time Tears. Apparently the Time Goddess had not liked my teacher's whacking stick! But then the hairs on the back of my neck prickeled. I grabbed Dora's arm.

"What was that? Listen!" A Hissing, soft voice was coming from around the corner.

"Don't fail me again, Teivel. You must not fail to round up those nasty time-traveling children by morning. If we have them all, we can collect there Time Tears and controll time! Just keep your eyes on the prize. Now, GO AND GET THOSE RASCALS!"

"Yes, Lord Nazar. They shall be captured at once." Dora and I looked at eachother. That was the voice of the man who had half crushed me to death! We were deadmeat by sunrise. And as if that wasn't enough, everybody was spread out, and too far away to contact. Heck, we didn't even know were Zoe OR Meredith were! This was going to be one tough night. At least the others had time to get away... Before I had time to finish my thought, I felt a hand clamp over my mouth, and another on my hair, pulling hard.

~end of that chunk of story from Heun~

Little does Heun know, Asteroid Jobs also heard the conversation. She is now trying to find anybody, to warn them, and take them to a safe place.

Asteroid jumped out of her machine. There! The Heun girl and Dorya....Dorcas.... forget it!

She stumbled towards them, trying not to fall. "Heuuun!"  she rasped, "Dora!" Yes, that was her name! She gagged suddenly, tumbling onto the ground. No, no, she had to warn them.......

That was her last thought before she blacked out.

Surprised

Asteroid Jobs desperately grappled the controls of her time machine. I have to find the Guardians! She screamed as the machine plummeted, desperately trying to get near Heun, or Dora, anyone.

I have to find them soon.

Idon't have time to waste

Or they'll be dead by morning.

~Heun~

I woke up feeling hazy, and my hair still hurt. I then tried to get up, as I was feeling hungry, but when I shifted, I felt a Force on my neck, my wrists, and my ankles. I was chained to the wall! How could I have not noticed that I was chained to the wall?! My desperate thoughts were interrupted by an oily voice just a little to my left.

"Well, well. I see you have finally awakened, my fair little gemstone. It shall be quite entertaining when I endeavor to wheedle the time tears out of you, by brute force if necessary," Nazar stated shiftily, fingering his sword, with a large number of small marks on it, I was guessing, one for each innocent person he had slaughtered in his crazed hunt for time tears.

"Then once I'm done extracting the tears, I shall dispose of you in the most interesting way possible... publicly." And then he left. I suddenly erupted in tears. I was just blinking the last of them away, when something that seemed... heavier than a tear slid down my soaked cheeks. As it dropped off, I caught it. It was a moonstone water droplet, but still liquid... ish. Just then, I heard footsteps coming down the stairs. I recognized the boots at once. It was Nazar! I had just enough timne to realize that I would look mighty suspicious staring at a liquidized moonstone in my hand when Nazar came down the steps. I had no choice. I stuffed the stone into my mouth and swollowed hard.
