Wow!  That's great!  My dad goes on a misson with my church to the Dominican Republic.  They do the same sort of things, but they built a church.  Have fun on a plane!  I just went on one for the second time, and fortunatly we didn't go through turbulance, and hey, I just realized that the stop in the middle was in Cleveland!  Is that the one you're going to?!?!?!? :):) I get happy pretty easily!:) Have a good time in Honduras, and I'll pray that you don't get too exhausted! (My dad always does!)  I'm planning to go to the Dominican next year and my dad said that I would have to work at the orphanage with all of the little kids (I love little kids and they love me!).  They always do a VBS there, and I guess it's really fun to do.  I'm donating three bags of my old stuffed animals to there, so they can have some.  I hope I have enough!  Have a good time!

I went on a mission trip. Last year. To Mexico. It was an interesting trip...

We drove a school bus down, some old run-down thing the school sold to us. Anyhoo we broke down in a casino (no, we were not gambling, we were eating lunch, have you ever eaten at a casino? The buffets are amazing...) for seven hours because the engine was *this* close to bursting into flame like the engine on our LAST bus, and Jim (the pastor) broke the starter in the process of stopping the engine from burning up... Then we called a diesel mechanic who had to build a new starter (in the casino parking lot, I can only imagine what people thought, seeing a school bus with "P------- Bible Church" on the side...)

So we got to Mexicali a day late, went out to Villahermosa and met some very nice people, plus, um, batboy, whose real name escapes me. Anyway, we did some lesson things with the kids, and the guys played football and basketball with the boys (which was interesting as we only had 1 translator)... And meanwhile batboy (who was like 20) rode around in circles with a bat... on a bike.

We headed back around six, after the evening service in the church, which had six two- (maybe three-) person benches, plus a window. Also some outhouses and a beehive in the back.

Anyway, we're on the bus, heading for our camp, and there's a sound like a gunshot and the window breaks. Not completely, which was good, 'cause the rock was about the size of a baseball. That was rather scary.

The next day the Yugo Ministries people sent us to a different town. ("Too dangerous," they said.)

And guess what? The town they sent us to instead was the same neighborhood where we had been "stoned" the night before. :D

Anyway it was AWESOME. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard...

Have fun on your trip!

I know it sounds horrible when it's described, but it was honestly one of the best trips I've ever been on, except for the lasagna. I mean, how often do you get to sit on a bench with some people who are your age and speak a different language than you do and give a talk about Ruth while thinking to yourself, "Oh, cake, I'm on a mission trip in Mexico and I have NO IDEA what I'm doing... And I left my notes in the tent..." then somehow getting through it all right and playing Pato Pato Ganzo with some kids who ask permission to eat candy that you give them. It was amazing. You'll have lots of fun, promise. :)

Hi every1! Where do I sign up for NANOWRIMO? I get writer's block a lot, and abandon most of the stories I begin, but maybe this is my opportunity to get something published!
