I was thinking,

Chatterbox: Inkwell

I was thinking,

I was thinking, we could start a new story chain. You make up a new character, but they CAN'T be from the 21st century (they'll wind up there later). They have to be related to someone famous but NOT an actor, actress, singer, etc.

Mine is: Dehlia Ludington.

Related to a heroine of the American Revolution: Sybil Ludington.

Lives in Fredericksburg NY, 1777

Suddenly transported to the 21st century.

Age: Unkown

Short length blonde hair, blue-gray eyes, exactly 5 feet, rather pale.

Personality: Quiet most of the time, yet speaks out passionately when its something she cares about, strong, dependable, loving.

Hope ya'll like my idea!

Really, it's just like writing a normal character - they just have an opposing goal to the protagonist. Don't go too over-the-top, though. They're people too, with goals and methods and whatnot.

Advice taken, here goes....

Max stood panting a second. He'd run several blocks, making sure he got away from some girl with a bottle of what I immediatley recognized as time tears, from his years of secret science studies.  No one thought these possible where he came from, so evidently, that girl was from the future.  And those people who had run up to her after I stole the tears. They were evidently from another time too, though not all the same.  Now, he could finally get home... though, wait, if he stayed here, at least for a time, he could learn far greater science than in his time! He'd be considered a genius in his time! Yes, that is what he'd do!  But first, he must get out of his pajamas. He looked around and walked several blocks. On one corner, he saw some bin that said; Donate Clothes Here.  Well, all in all, he wasn't necessarily fond of stealing, but given the situation.... He ran up when no one was looking, and snatched a shirt, and a pair of trousers out of the bin. The one next to it held shoes. He rummaged through it till he found a semi-decently fitting pair. With these clothes, maybe those other people wouldn't recognize him...

What do ya'll think?  And suggestions as to what Max should do next (since he's more like a group character now).

Hi guys! I'm really, REALLY sorry for not posting at all, and I honestly have no excuse, because I should have made time.

Also, Max is now wearing plaid pajamas, not striped pajamas. Sorry, I didn't think of that. Also, for the sake of the story, time travel allows Max to speak English, not German.

Maxwell Xavier Frankenstein

I grabbed the vial from the girl's hand. Whatever it was, it seemed to be very important to her. She was obviously as out of place as I was, though I doubted she was conspicuous. I was, afterall, wearing rather obvious plaid pajamas. Seriously. From now on, I will always clothing I would let myself be seen in outside.

Whatever this place is, it seems like the future. The language printed on the signs is unfamiliar, but I can read it anyway. How strange.

After grabbing the vial the girl was so desperately holding, I hid. In a tree. Because people were staring at me. Not that there were that many people, around, but still... it is rather awkward.

I watched as they congregated on the hill, looking like they had dressed for a costume party and failed rather spectacularly. Two boys and three girls. The oldest among them appears to be one of the boys, but almost definitely old enough to be a man. He wore a scarf a rather annoying shade of red, as well as glasses. If he's the oldest, it follows that he's probably the one most able to deal with the situation. I don't recognize the style of his coat, and those glasses seem awfully sophisticated, so I can only assume that he's been taken from wherever he was, just as I was, and if this is time travel, as I hear them saying, then he's most likely from a time period later than I. The other male looks to be younger than me, but not by much, about my height or slightly shorter. His style of dress I don't recognize either, so he's probably from a later date as well. The oldest female is the one I stole the vial from. She appears to be quite troubled about it. She's definitely older than I am, probably 16 or 17 or so. The next two girls appear to be the same height, but they look rather different, and one seems older than the other.

They were talking about time travel.

Also, the girl I stole the vial of liquid from has a knife. I will have to remember that. I know how to shoot a pistol, of course, and use a knife, but as I was whisked away in my pajamas, I don't have either.

They talked about time travel, about years and dates. I couldn't catch all of their conversation, and I didn't dare move closer. However, I did learn some rather helpful information. We were in the year 2012. The tall man's name was Errol and he was from 2102. The girl I had stolen the vial from was named Elexhiia, and she was from 1940 something. Felix was the other boy. I confused Dora with Dehlia, but one of them was the only one from before my time. The other was from after the civil war, whenever that was. Almost differently after my time.

Most importantly, as Elexhiia was saying, "Time tears," she said, "are a magical liquid that can transport us to any time. We might have all gotten home, but that pajamas guy took them. They were the thing to help me to go from 25th century to 1951."

Oh my. I studied the vial. It looked utterly unremarkable.

At first, Errol doubted the existence of magic. I snorted. He obviously hadn't been transported by an evil patchwork creature created by his uncle.

The younger boy suggested finding me and making me give them back.

Ha. Fat chance.

This, this is amazing. I could do anything with these, go anywhere. Rob a bank and vanish. I could go back in time, kill my uncle before he created the Creature... ah, but that might mean my father might not meet my mother, or marry someone else... and I might cease to exist. I should probably stick with events after my time.

I can do anything. Anywhere. After all, it seems I don't have to learn to speak the language. That certainly makes things easier. It seems I am in America, somewhere along the East Coast, in the year 2012.

If I had the weapons, I could kill these five people and disappear, never to be caught. If I'm smart about this, I won't have to work, ever. Inflation, after all. If I learn enough, I could save lives and I could destroy them. I merely have to get a rifle or whatever else they use for weapons these days, and when I've all I want for now, go back to where I was and kill the abomination in my house.

I'm sure these five will catch up with me at some point in time, (hm. Time.) and considering they sound and seem like rather resourceful people, it will probably be sooner than later. After all, how hard is it to find a boy running around in plaid pajamas?

So then. My first order of business. Get clothes.

Second order of business: gather minions.

I walked away from my tree.

After all, surely we can't be the only time travelers? And surely I'm not the only one who realizes the potential of this situation and has less than noble intentions.

I'll have to begin searching immediately.

But first, clothes that are not plaid pajamas.

Hooray! Hallelujah! SC has returned! I am rather glad you're back, for I fear I really don't do a very good job of your character, though I've done my best.

Dehlia stood, thinking. The boy in pajamas stole the time tears. That obviously meant he was desperate to steal a bottle filled with clear liquid, without know what it was. So maybe, he was from another time too. "Felix is right, we need to find him," Dehlia said after awhile, startling everyone after being so quiet for so long. Suddenly, Dehlia saw movement out of the corner of her eye. Up the hill, something fell, or climbed, out of one of the trees and started walking away. "There!" Dehlia cried, realizing the figure was in pajamas. The guy in pajamas glanced over his shoulder, then took off at a run. By the time they all managed to scramble up the hill, he was gone again. "Well, now what?!" Errol and Elexhiia said exasperatedly in unison. Dehlia stood puffing a moment. This dress was too much to try and move around in here. "Well, we should first try to get new clothes, for those of us who can't function well in what we have, and stick out," she said, glancing at herself and Dora. Their clothes were just too different for here. "Then, I don't know how, but we need things to be able to defend ourselves, like Elexhiia has a knife." She looked at everybody. "So, where to get new clothes?"

Okay, reviving this thread!

~Dora~

I stared at Deliah. New clothes? Well, we did need to stop looking like we came from the past. Already I had received enough puzzled glances to last a lifetime in the 1800s and another in this world. But pants? No way, no how. I was not going to wear a pair of pants as a girl. If I had to wear them, then I would disgiuse myself as a boy and horrify stuffy Aunt Sarah.

"Well, do we have any money at all?" I asked, looking around at our small group. As we were searching our pockets, though, I noticed a figure creeping up to a large box accross the street. A swift movement, and a pair of pants and a shirt were removed from the box. As the figure rushed off, I gave a sharp gasp. The figure had on striped pajamas. But as the others turned to look at me, the teardrop snatcher disappeared into the crowd.

I described what I had just seen."But he blended into the crowd. He's gone."

"And now he won't be so easy to spot," said the younger boy, Fleix. "He will most likely stash them into a dump so we can't trace him."

"But what were those clothes from?" asked Exilia.

We decided to get a closer look. Approaching the box, I saw a sign that said Clothes for Charity.

I turned to the others. "Do we take that?" I asked, "or leave it?"

"We take it," Dehlia said firmly. "We are charity, in this case, and we've no other means of providing clothes." Nobody looked paticularly happy about this, but nobody disagreed. It was a rather desolate street, so they quickly snuck up. Dehlia and Dora, having the same qualms about wearing pants. But no skirts or dresses could be located, so Dehlia and Dora decided to dress as needed. There weren't very many options for them. Dehlia, Dora, and Felix. They were mostly for small children, or adults. Dehlia pulled out a pair of light tan pants with lots of pockets on them, a dark purple t-shirt with stars across it, a dark brown jacket, what Felix called an aviator style, and brown lace-up boots. After ducking down a dark alley, she came out dressed. She looked down at herself in disgust. "Really, I can't wait till we get home, and leave these horrid fashions behind, or ahead, or, whenever!"

Okay, I'll let ya'll dress your character however you wish.

~Elexhiia~

I watched in silence as the other children tried to make a plan. Some tried to step up as leaders and get us going. I thought most of them seemed pretty dumb and one boy didn't even believe in magic, but I followed them down to a stupid box of clothes meant for charity anyway. The only time I pad attention to the conversation is when they mentioned the boy in pajamas. Based on where they saw him he wasn't far away. I quickly made a plan and decided to take charge.

"Look, some of you may be sort of smart, but I come from a time where humans, aliens, dragons, kiplerdeens, Macrolops, desinets, and other normalian (meaning from the Dimension of Normalia, A.K.A our dimension) creatures have more wisdom and knowledge than you people ever will. I have a plan which will get all of us back home and give you infinite knowledge and possibly a little wisdom, but then again I could always just carry out the plan on my own. So unless you guys have some way to prove to me that you're an asset to the plan... Cheerio, and good luck."

Most of them just stared. I turned and began to walk away.

"Wait!" shouted one of the girls. "I can help."

Dehlia had just called out to Elexhiia, who was walking away. Dehlia may not be the smartest, strongest, tallest (definitely out of the question) or bravest, but she knew they HAD to stay together if they ever wanted to get home. Elexhiia turned and looked at her. Dehlia's mind went blank. "How can you help?" Elexhiia asked her. Dehlia wasn't sure. But she knew she had to. "I don't know just how I can help. But my sister, Sybil, helped the cause for independence just by riding her horse, calling out the milita. If she can do that, and help, then the least I can do is help us get home. We've got to stay together, that's the only way we'll get the time tears back. And the only way we'll all get home." Here she stopped, not sure what to say next. She knew this didn't prove that she, herself, could help specifically, but they needed Elexhiia to stay with them, no matter what. Everybody was silent, staring at her. Elexhiia walked up and looked at Dehlia straight in the face.

Okay, Tovah, I'll let you decide what you character should do now!

Errol watches the two girls arguing as he reties his scarf around his neck (it's old enough not to draw too much attention, although the color is rather unfortunate). He whistles through his teeth, a long, low note. "This isn't going to get us anywhere." Placing a hand on each of their shoulders, he separates them as cordially as he can. "Girls, you're both pretty, now we'll get Mister Pajama-Man and then you don't have to breathe each other's air ever again."

Dehlia puts her foot down angrily. "That's not what we were arguing about and you know it. And we weren't even arguing."

"Oh, is that what they called it 300 years ago?" Errol rolls his eyes. "Now if we're ever going to get back to anything that could be called 'normal', Lixie's definition aside, of course, we are going to have to work together. And that means you--" he jabs a finger at Elexhiia's nose "--are going to have to get your head out of the clouds and help us poor unfortunate souls."

Elexhiia knocks aside his hand easily. "First of all, don't call me Lixie. Second of all, I'm not going to consort with you-"

"Face it, Lixie." Dehlia says airily. "If you aren't going to help us, then you're against us. And you might have us in magic but we definitely have you in numbers and will."

--

You know, this could be cooler if we have two groups trying to get the tears - Elexhiia and some other people who go with her vs. everybody else trying to get them from Maxwell. I like this.

WAIT, WAIT, WAIT. L. I liked the way BHR was playing it. I may act like a snob, but I don't want anyone to dislike me, although I do like being leader and superior (*blush*). So can we back up? Anyway Elexhiia and Dhelia weren't fighting. And I do want to respond to what she said without you getting in between. Sorry. :/

I'm sorry. I guess the way I interpreted it Lixie was coming off as a little snooty because she's been everywhere and everywhen and these people haven't, and I just kind of took off from there. And it's a little difficult to have a character liked by everyone, especially one who is slightly abrasive like Errol.

But can we still go with the two-groups thing?

@ L; I like that! And maybe, could we still go with them trying to find some sort of weapons? It may sound silly, but I'm rather fond of that. Especially girls. Whether it's a knife like Elexhiia, or whatever.
