A bunch of kids accidentally discover a time machine in the shape of a locket and whenever they travel through time their characters change to some awesome person with powers (in normal time they are dorky so give me both descriptions).

Nymphadora ~
I stare at the guy who just fell through the ceiling. He appears to be about my age. He sees our lockets, and holds an identical one out. "So, ladies, we all get a piece of bling and get here or is this some
sorta magical derring-do from a guy who wants to epically mess up my
life?" I didn't know whether to laugh or ask him who on earth he was. Thankfully, he volunteered the information. "I'm Sam, Sam Elphick. And you are?" I stared at the girl opposite me. "Maddie Silver," she said, then blinked, like she was surprised by this information. "I'm Nymphadora, no last name," I said. Sam raised his eyebrows at the last bit, but didn't say anything. "And despite my clothing," I continued, looking down at my dress; "I'm not from here. This locket brought me. It also changed my clothes and looks." "Me too!" Maddie cried. "I think it even changed my last name, because I thought it was Sybil." "Same here," Sam said; "except it didn't change anything about me, save my eyes." I thought about that. A locket brought us all here. "Hey," I said, a thought having just struck me. "Where did you come from, Sam?" He looked up at the trap door. Some library up there, but then I fell through that trap door, and wound up here." I gazed up at the trap door. A library? My curiosity must have done it, because I love books, for one moment I was wishing I could see it, and the next, I was standing in it. What just happened? I thought to myself, rather alarmed. I took a step forward, then fell. I gave a small shriek, but landed right back in the tower. Maddie and Sam stared at me, looks of shock on their faces. "Now where did you go, or come from?" Sam asked. "I don't know," I replied. "I was just wishing I could see the library, and poof! I was there!" "Hmm," Sam said, contemplating me. "I wonder... What if the lockets gave us powers?"
Okay, I'll stop here. Trying to keep the thread going! Cappie says opcm. Is he talking about a possum? Or is he refering to Osium Popham? Hmm...

Maddie's head was spinning. Seconds ago she had been rushing to reading class, and now here she was, in some castle of some kind, and there were other people too, Nymphadora and Sam, who Maddie wasn't quite sure what to make of. Nymphadora made a library appear, and Maddie couldn't help but feeling a little shocked. Sam threw out an interesting idea. "I wonder... What if the lockets gave us powers?" 12% probablity, Maddie heard herself thinking.
"No," she said, "or else after I found the necklace I would've been able to ge to class quicker, or whatever, I mean, depending on what my powers, if I posses any, are. It didn't happen until I opened the locket and then--" Then what? Maddie couldn't remember. Her memory was just blank. An automated raven with eyes made of gears landed on her shoulder and she felt herself stroking it gently, and thought clockwork ravens landed on her shoulder all the time.
"You most certainly posses powers," said Sam, almost sacarsticly, staring at the gearshift raven.
"Hmm," said Maddie, trying to cauclate the probablities she'd be late for reading class.
100%.
Aargh, that was terrible. Apart from the steampunk raven. Honestly, Lexi, try to think like Maddie. Become your character. And don't make her totally flat. But steampunk is good.
(February 23, 2013 - 8:32 pm)
I second that opinion. Steampunk is great.
--
Sam holds his hand out to the raven, which hops onto his outstretched fingers. He strokes its glossy feathers thoughtfully. "Well," he drawls, "if these things did give us powers I'd like to find out what mine is. Barring of course my crazy eye," he adds.
The raven croaks loudly and ruffles its mechanical wings. The left one makes a slight shrieking noise as it extends and it hangs at the raven's side, limp. Sam examines it. He pulls a screwdriver from his back pocket (where in the world did it come from?) and jams it into the underside of the wing between two gears. The wing immediately slides out to its full length and the raven begins to speak in a deep, throaty croak.
"You have been summoned for a purpose." It bows its head towards Sam, who almost drops it in shock. "Thank you for restoring my voice and wing to their proper functions." It turns toward Maddie and Nymphadora. "My name is Claopis. Find my sister, Claudonica, and all your questions will be answered."
Claopis fell inert and refused to say anything more.

I third the opinion, steampunk is really cool!
Nymphadora ~
I stare at the raven who just spoke. Find my sister, Claudonica, it had said. What did that mean? "How in the name of all things chocolatey are we supposed to do that?" I asked, hands on hip, still looking at the bird. But it didn't respond. Sam stared at the bird a moment, then looked back at me. "Bird in a minute. First, superpowers. I'm pretty sure I've come to the conclusion of yours is teleportation." I stared at him like he was speaking a foreign language. "It makes sense," Maddie put in. I thought back to suddenly appearing in the library. "I suppose, but, then, what's ya'lls?"
Okay, short, but, I'll stop there. I thought perhaps we should cover the powers first, before we travel again, you know?
(February 24, 2013 - 10:11 pm)
Sam stares at the screwdriver in his hand as if it came from another planet. He had no idea what to do to Claopis, but as soon as he had touched it he knew it had to be fixed. He knew exactly what to push out of the way and exactly how to place each and every gear that he had touched.
"I'm pretty sure yours has something to do with machines," Nymphadora offers.
Sam resists the urge to say "Well, duh." Instead, he hands Maddie the raven.

BLARGUM SPOOGLES.
Good idea. I just figured after all that was taken care of we'd need
some sort of mission/quest/thing to do. And Claopis is the name of the
raven god in Amberwood, so yeah.
(February 25, 2013 - 3:42 pm)
@ L; Agreed. We do need a mission/quest. Hmm. What could it be. Perhaps we need to get different things from different time periods and eras. Sort of like Magic Treehouse. Also, what's Amberwood?
(February 25, 2013 - 6:48 pm)
It's the title of a series of vignettes. I've actually posted the first few to here on IW. They're still on the first page, go check it out.
Anywho, Claopis is one of the Five (the Five being he, Claudonica, Levon, Shrior, and Tobant) and he presides over daytime and peace. Just a thing, you know.
(February 25, 2013 - 6:57 pm)
Sam handed Maddie back Claopis, and the raven turned around and all so kindly bit Sam's finger.
"Ow!" he cried. "What was THAT for!?"
"I don't think Claopis is particularily fond of you," Maddie couldn't help but smirk a bit.
"But I fixed her!" Sam protested.
"There was a 12% chance she wouldn't be fond of you."
"Guys!" cried Nymphadora. "Stop arguing! Claopis bit Sam, maybe it was a bite of thanks! It's pointless to argue about!"
Maddie held up her hand in defeat. "Okay. Fine. So what are my powers?"
"Other that wearing a cape?" said Sam, ready to get back at her.
Nymphadora shot Sam a look. Maddie bit her tounge to keep from saying, "Back off, capes are cool," but she decided that comment wouldn't really help anyone.
"I think it might have something to do with percentages," she tried to be helpful. "I keep caculating the exact percent of chances that things will happen, and stuff like that."
Okay, I have to stop here, because I have to go read and I don't really know what to do next. Cappie says "Fpod." Cappie, this isn't science fiction! (Is it?) No fly pods, whatever those are!

Nymphadora ~
"I agree, Maddie," I said, still eyeing Sam. "You evidently can do well figuring things, so I suppose your power is mathmatics! And Sam, perhaps yours is mechanics?"
Okay, like, one line, yes, but I want to confirm the powers.
(February 26, 2013 - 5:51 pm)
Aargh, this thread is DEAD.
So I'm going to write a post.
They had figured out whose powers were whose, now they just need to figure out what to do next.
"Claopis mention her sister," Maddie put in helpfully.
"Yeah, 'Find my sister, Claudonica, and all your questions will be answered.' That totaly makes sense," Sam said sarcasticly.
He's right, Maddie added to herself. With all the information we have, we have a 17% chance of finding Claudonica. We'd need to elminate the other 83% or have a mircale.
A miracle. That gave Maddie an idea...
(March 1, 2013 - 5:56 pm)
(...Claopis is a guy...)
Sam sees the look on Maddie's face. She is the brainy one, he knows that, and any plan she comes up with will probably work, but her smile still terrifys him just a little.

Nymphadora ~
I simply stand and watch as Sam and Maddie try and figure out what to do next. Maddie is evidently gifted with genius. I wish I were smart like that. And Sam also evidently, is gifted with mechanics. Suddenly, Maddie gets this maniacal grin on her face, that makes both Sam and me a little nervous. "A miracle is exactly what we need," Maddie says, a plan evidently formulating in her mind. "And we have it with us! The lockets! They take us to other places in time. Evidently, Claudonica isn't here, she'd most likely be with Claopis." At this, the bird nods his head, as if agreeing with her. "So we need to start exploring other times, trying to find her! Pull out your lockets!" We did as she said. "But wait," I said hesitantly; "we don't know how these work. How will we know where we end up next?" Maddie pondered this, and Sam shrugged. "Trial and error I suppose," he said. "Make a circle, everyone. Hopefully, if my calculations are correct, we have an 85% chance of arriving at the same place. On the count of three. One, two, three!" We threw open our lockets, and... **********************************************************************
So, where should we end up next? Perhaps the Civil War era? Blue and grey uniforms, hoop skirts, what could go wrong?
(March 2, 2013 - 5:11 pm)
Sorry. My fault.

Gah! This thread is dead! top. Top. TOP!
(March 5, 2013 - 4:53 pm)
Even though I never joined it's sad to see a good thread die. D:
