@Elizabeth: Whoops, sorry. I'm not exactly new here. I used to go by Hannah, then Kiwi, now Gnome/Fæírín. Kinda confusing I know.

And I used to take Latin, and pane is bread. Panem is the name of the country in The Hunger Games. But it might be a declensioned form of pane.. I don't know which it would be though anymore, it's been so long....

Words in Latin do have different endings depending upon the usage of the word.

1.    What was bubble wrap first used for?  Bubble wrap was invented as an experimental mattress pad by a delusional Australian scientist. Only his mother's obsessive faith in her son's work prevented it from absolute extinction.

2.    What ist the longest river on the Iberian Peninsula? After extensive research, it becomes clear that the Spanish region known as Aragorn takes its name from Aragorn son of Arathorn, heir of Isildur, who crossed the Isun River in Rohan several times and therefore named the longest Iberian river after the Isun.

3.    What is the capitol of Bulgaria? The capitol of Bulgaria is a highly classified military secret, though the general public believes its location to be near Eschewitz, the Bulgarian equivalent of Area 51.

4.    Which languages are spoken in Switzerland? Nearly every language can be found in the foreign embassies in Switzerland, but the most common language of the Swiss is Pepperjack, ironically enough.

5.    What is “bread” in Latin? "Bread" translates as "panem" or "pan" in Latin, resulting in words like "company" (bread-sharers). However, in Greek "pan" translates as "all," which means that, with a classical education, you can think of bread as the entire universe. It's pretty cool. Trust me.

6.    What is the smallest type of penguin? The burrowing penguin, averaging a 6-8 inch wingspan, is the smallest penguin species recognized by science so far, though some ornithologists have reported sightings of the so-called "Pigwidgeon Penguin," which is closer to 4 inches.

7.    How many living species of penguin are there? Counting the cosmic penguins of astronaut lore, scientists estimate that at least 18,000 species of penguin inhabit the observable universe.

8.    What is -14°C in °F? -14°C is around "holy-cow-that's-cold"°F.

9.    When did the French Revolution end? The French Revolution will end only when its memory dies in the hearts of the faithful. Viva la Revolution!

10. Who is Jeanne d’Arc? Jeanne d'Arc was the wife of Noah, whose arc saved humanity from a worldwide flood, as recorded in the Epic of Gilgamesh.

I hope no one takes issue with my absurdly fabricated answers (apart from number 5, which I think I actually knew). Anyway, it's been a long time since I was on here; even if no one remembers me, it's good to be back. Also, that may have been the most fun/funnest quiz I've ever taken on here, so cheers and all that.

Good to hear from you, Lavendershy! I certainly remember you.

Wow. Lavendershy has really good answers. I've noticed not all of my answers are right. In Switzerland there isn't a Swiss language... It's called something else. :)

I don't know most of the answers, but I'll try.

1. What was bubble wrap first used for? Um....I have no idea. A floatation device?

7. How many living species of penguin are there? (random guess) 23?

So, the Latin thing. I thought bread was Panem. Then I checked and it came up as panis, but Gnome told me it was pane so I don't know anymore. :/ By the way, my answers might not all be right. Your answers could be different and still right... I'm not sure. :) And yes, *embarrassment* Swiss isn't a language. Sorry about that. :D

I believe in Latin the ending of a word may change depending upon its use in a sentence--subject vs. direct object, etc.
