Chatterbox: Down to Earth

Christmas season is

Christmas season is around the corner and everyone's hustling and bustling to buy gifts, decorations, and make plans for holiday parties.  Do you have any gifts you are particularly proud of?  Or any clever wrapping/decorating tips you'd like to share?  Please, feel free to post here on traditions, gifts and all your preparations for Christmas!

I'm not gifted (haha- I didn't plan this) in gift wrapping. :)  But my mom bought this huge package of ribbons of all different textures and designs from Costco. (You could probably have guessed when I said huge that it was from Costco =D)  They add a very nice touch to all of my not-so-nice gift wrapping.  Also, I am creating a picture collage for my brother, that I'm going to frame.  I'm proud of this because it's so personal--and I know he's going to love it.  For my other brother, I bought expensive stickers (made from actual fabrics, not just flimsy sticker material) and glued magnets on to the back, for his new magnet board he got. I'm not sure about my sister's gift yet (I just know I'm going to buy a couple little things) but I plan on buying a Santa hat and placing her gift in there--tying it with a ribbon.  Anyway, sorry my gift ideas are boring, it's all I have right now.  Please liven this thread with more holiday cheer!

I am a horrible, horrible person and wrote "lose the game" on everyone's wrapping paper. I am expecting some INCREDIBLY ANGRY texts come Christmas morning.

As for Christmas itself, it will probably entail me screaming "AH WHITMAN APP IS DUE TOMORROW AH" and frantically trying to finish everything come December 30th. Other than that, it should be good. Mother has all but told me she got me an (actual physical copy) of Into the Woods, so I can stop feeling guilty about watching it over and over and over again. Ditto Sunday in the Park with George. Plus, I can indoctrinate the rest of the family GO ME.

The most expensive gift I am giving is the complete Sherlock Holmes, for my friend who is COMING HOME FROM COLLEGE TOMORROW IT'S SO EXCITING. Other than that everything was under 9$, which is the beauty of buying Discworld for absolutely everyone (except mother, who is getting Water For Elephants because I want to read it). My giftees are all getting BOOKS and they are going to bloody well LIKE IT. (Except Emily, who is getting a hug (rare commodity from me, I don't hug anyone except Grandma) because she was being obstinate and refused to tell me what she wanted except "don't get me a Discworld book" grrr. She's Quinn's friend anyway, I just give her rides everywhere. So nyah /rant)

Also, CHRIIIIIIIIIISTMAAAAAAAAAAAAS!!!

@Kimberly: YES, Scrooge was AMAZING! People actually FLEW!  (I feel like I said this somewhere else.  I hope I'm not repeating myself!)  It was a huge mega-church and it was like stadium inside!  I would guess 1,000 seats!  Anyway, if you know the story, the three angels flew into Scrooge's bedroom; so neat!!

OMIGOOOOOODNESSSSSSSSSS!  5 MORE DAYS!!! 5!5!5!5!  I'm SOOOOOOO excited.  I can't believe how many presents are under our tree. Well, that could be that I have a large family!  :)  No snow here.  I wish there would be!  Amazingly, I have all my Christmas shopping DONE!  But that means I'm always being left home to babysit while others go out.  But ANYWAY 5 MORE DAYS!!!

@R~D~: Wow, that sounds so super amazing! :D I love when shows have cool parts like that! I don't think you're repeating yourself....I don't think you're repeating yourself... ;)

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Christmas is so soon!!!! I am bursting with excitment! Today, we made Christmas cookies and drove around looking at Christmas lights. It was an awesome, festive day! :) I'll try posting some cookie photos soon. :]

R~D~, sorry if I've asked this before, but how many siblings do you have? :)

Tomorrow-the first day of winter! :D

:) :) I love baking Christmas cookies!  :D  We made a lot this year, and handed them out to neighbors and friends.  I think the thing I like most about Christmas is watching other people open their presents and seeing their faces. The realization finally hit me, that it's not just about opening my presents!  I think it's because my little sister is now old enough to understand what's going on, so she is overwhelmed with excitement.  So that makes me extremely excited for her!  What we do on Christmas morning: we each take turns (youngest to oldest) opening one present at a time.  I like it. :D

Oh, I have two younger brothers, an older sister, and a three-year-old sister.  I don't think you've asked before. :P

:D :D Yeah, baking Christmas cookies is so awesome. :) How great that you gave a bunch of them to your family/friends! We're going to bring tons of them to our grandma and some of her neighbors. We made 70+ cookies, so we totally have enough! ;) I know what you mean, I adore giving people presents-watching their face when they open up their gift is so priceless. :) I smiled when I read what you said about your sister--it made me think of my 4 youngest cousins. They're all under 10 and I miss them so much! We had been going to see them and the rest of the family for Christmas in IL, but we had a few unexpected delays so we couldn't make it. :[ I really, really, really miss them! Little kids are so...sweet. :) Ha, ha, we take turns opening our presents too! It's awesome. :) OK, thanks for telling me! I always forget if I've already asked stuff like that. ;) You must have to babysit a lot! :)

Merry Christmas!

Oh, wow, that's alot of cookies!! :)  Somehow when we bake cookies, flour ends up ALL over the floor, kitchen, walls, etc.... :D  I'm so sorry you don't get to spend time with your cousins.  That's a bummer!  Well- at least you're constantly travelling so it won't be too hard to stop by. (I think).  They're sweet, but a bit mischevious, too.  :P  That's funny that we both do that.  We used to just have everyone go at it, but then my parents never knew which present was from who, and who got what, and it was just very unorganized.  This is better. :D  We are going to see Christmas lights tonight!  yayayay! I'll be terribly sad when Christmas ends. :'(

IT'S THE EVE OF THE EVE OF CHRISTMAS!  :D:D:D

Ha, ha, yeah, and most of them are gone now. ;) I know what you mean, we got so much flour in the RV kitchen when we baked the cookies! Flour is such an annoying thing to clean up... :] Yeah, I'm glad that we're traveling so that we can see lots of friends and family pretty much whenever we want! :) I hope you had loads of fun looking at Christmas lights! :D I'll be sad too, but it's not over yet--the week after Christmas we still listen to Christmas music and stuff! :)

How was everybuggy's (this includes you Admins! :)) Christmas? Totally awesome I hope! :) I am SO, SO, SO, SO HAPPY! Like I told my sister yesterday- "I'm so happy, that I could walk around hugging strangers right now!" :) I got a new camera; I really didn't expect to get one! Hee, hee, expect lots of pictures quite soon. ;) I've barely put it down since I got it. :)

Merry Christmas Everybuggy! *hugs**hugs**hugs*

*passes out candy canes*

Virtual cookies for Everybuggy! I made lots of real ones this year to give away. Yes, I had a very nice Christmas. We had friends and family here on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, beautiful music at church and on PBS and CD, and beautiful white, fluffy snow. On Christmas night we took a ride to view Christmas lights. We've learned the best routes to take to see the most spectacular displays. One of the houses has a fantastic light show choreographed to music you tune in on your car radio, and it's a different show/music each year. And this afternoon (the 26th), I got to go cross-country skiing with a friend on trails in a nearby state park. The woods were so pretty, the trees all flocked with snow. And the canyons have ice falls. Now I'm back to reading and posting comments on Chatterboxers' holidays. I always love hearing what you all are up to!

@Admin:  Whoa, that sounds like a totally perfect Christmas! I'm really happy for you!  That light show sounds AMAZING.  I've seen those things as forwards on the computer (cooooool!) but not live!  I wish we had snow. :(  It's cold enough.

@Kimberly: I GOT A NEW CAMERA TOO!!!!!!  I'm SO SO HAPPY, too. :P  It has all these realllllly cool modes that are extremely hard to describe so I won't but it's really neat. :)  I cannot wait to see your pictures.  Please post them soon.  Make a new picture thread; that thread I enjoyed A LOT!

RD, what I've learned about "totally perfect" anything over the years is that in reality there rarely is such a thing. There are always little glitches (or big ones), which you can choose to dwell upon . . . or to ignore. (Sort of like the glass is half empty or half full. E.g., my immediate family was here, but uncle, cousins, etc. were far away.) The key to enjoying an event or a day is to not expect it to be perfect, but to enjoy it as it unfolds--then you won't be disappointed!

@Everybuggy, last night we watched the movie "Ballet Shoes," which I'd ordered from Netflix without knowing much about it, and it was absolutely WONDERFUL! I highly recommend it to anyone. (It's just PG because someone smokes a cigarette, but it was set in early 20th century London when smoking was common.)

R~D~, you got a new camera too? That is just so awesome!!! :D What kind is it? I <3 when cameras have lots of cool modes, those are so much fun to play around with! :) I'll try and post some photos soon and make a new photography thread. You have to promise me something though; when I make a new thread, you really, really, really, need to post some of your photos! OK? ;)

*feels embarrassed* Ah, I don't really know what kind it is. I guess I was just amazed to get a new one, that I didn't even pay attention to what kind. :) It's downstairs, but when I find out, I'll tell you.  Well, somebuggies were saying that the pictures needed to be previously posted on a blog of some sort, and I don't have one so... and the only reason I was able to post a dolphin picture before because it was on my Aunt's bloggy thing. :) When you make your photography thread (which you will soon.  I have a feeling. :D:D:D:D) please ask if anyone knows how to do it without having a blog.  How do you like your new camera? :P  *laughs* I like how we take over threads. =)

@R~D~: Oooh, what a cool camera! I bet you'll have loads of fun. :) Yeah, I think you do need a blog/page...sometimes though, I can have my pictures open in a tab on the internet (like, say, in an e-mail) and I can drag each photo to the tab open with CB and it works. :] I've been rather busy, but I'm going to try and make a photo thread super soon! :) I am LOVING my camera! It is so, so, so, so awesome. :D Ha, ha, ha, ha, yeah, we tend to take over threads often, don't we? ;) It's so much fun....

I hope you and your family have a blessed and happy new year!

Kimberly, please don't include any Web address on any photos you post. It's OK to put your first name and last intial on them. Thanks.
