Does anyone have/had braces? I'm getting them a week from tomorrow! I"M SO SCARED! People are telling me that I shouldn't be scared, but my brother had braces, and he hated them so much! He said they hurt for almost a WEEK! I'm so scared! My dad said to me "Welcome to my world," he had bad teeth just like me, except he had to wear head gear. I'm going to get some teeth pulled too!!!!! My Dentist said it doesn't hurt, but for some reason, I only believe her a little. I'M SOOOOO SCARED!

Ouch, ouch, ouch. I got them this morning!!!!! They don't really HURT, they just ache really badly! And when I eat something, OUCH! I can't wait to get them off in 2 years...sigh...

Your teeth will hurt. But it'll go away eventually. When I had mine I ate lots of mashed potatoes, soup and yogurt. Also, eating cold things like smoothies or ice cream helped. A few times, I woke up at four in the morning because my teeth hurt. (But I had to have these weird clamp-type things that you might not get.) I hope you feel better, and I promise, it's worth it!

OOO! It's getting better! I'm starting to eat some chocolate! (I also ate a fortune cookie cause when you suck on a little part for a little bit it gets soft!) It hurt just a little bit! :D:D:D:D But now I have another worry, everyone. On Tuesday, I'm getting 6 TEETH PULLED! eeeeeeeppppp! I'm so scared! (The next day is ski club and swimming, mom says I probably can't go....) I've never gotten teeth pulled! SO SCARED! Thankfully, I get to stay home for the rest of the day. And the next day I have to go back to school against my will. (Yay...) I'm SO scared! Is it going to hurt when the numbness comes off? I'M SURE IT WILL! I just got pretty used to braces, now THIS! I have to get them pulled because I have crowding. UGHHHHHHH! Again, my dad said, "Welcome to my world." I'M SO SCARED!!!! I've never gotten teeth pulled before! (I think I said that..) I had one cavity, but it was a baby tooth! EEEEEEKKKK!

Sorry, not to make anyone jealous here, but I have never had a cavity, have never had any teeth pulled, and I don't have to get braces. I also missed out on the glasses, though the two next-youngest siblings to me in my family both have them. I'm not envious of them or anything, just... *sigh* I know you think I'm weird now.

My orthodontist used this dental equiptment thingy to get the cement off the teeth that is the most painful thing my teeth have experienced in their entire lives. It's shaped like a pen and has a freezing cold tip that spins super fast. (You know when something cold touches your front teeth, you feel that pain that you can't really express in words.) OK, well imagine that FREEZING COLD ICY PEN OF DEATH being held against your teeth for minutes. With the most hideous smell. Yeah. Talk about PAINFUL!!!

How about an oral surgeon holding a bit of dry ice against HUGE filling in your back tooth that you almost had to get a root canal for? That hurt for an hour afterwards.

I can top that! I had to have two oral surgeries. The second one I was awake for! They gave me like a thousand shots, IN MY MOUTH (ouch) and then I could feel them cutting open my gums and stuff. So that's my horror story.
