Yes, it amazes me that the admins allow this.

What is amazing about allowing this? Each comment form actually asks for your current location (e.g., city and state). Many people don't live anywhere near where they were born. But no one should post anything they don't want to. We don't require a real location for each comment.

Most of us say when our birthday is anyway, and where you were born isn't exactly the most sensitive info. . . . .
My birthday is the fifteenth of September, and I was born in Reno, Nevada.

Um, Vida, no offense but you sort of sound like an Internet predator right now. You probably aren't, but there are people who see this sort of stuff. And if you have the right technological skills, you can search someone's name, where they were born, and the date, and you will probably end up with their last name, where they live, their telephone number, and stuff like that. And since some people post their ages, the predator could also search the year.
Again, don't post anything you don't feel comfortable posting. You can do like some people above did and only divulge the state and not city, you can leave off your birthday, or you can not say anything at all! We should probably stay away from calling others predators, though - I think this kind of get-to-know-you-through-random-facts thread is pretty common. I do stress, though, that if it makes you uncomfortable, by all means do not participate. -Admin
